On the way to Moosehead area I found the Lakeshore House and decided to stop. Started with a drink, could say that a "splash of Cran" was a bit more than that. The place was very busy with locals and got a seat near an entrance, for two, where everyone walked in from the streets idea entrance and would wait for the hoatess/waitress to be seated. Not an ideal.place to sit. The food was decent and well cooked. I had the scallops special and wild rice, both were delicious but I would have liked to have had a vegetable with the meal, that was about $26 The fried shrimp were large shrimp with the tails left on and the side of coleslaw was large chunks with little to no dressing. The fresh cut fires were a plus. The waitress was strung out, all ovwr the place, but very pleasant. This is a local "watering hole" and it has a welcoming vibe. Would atop again but saw other places that id like to try fist before going back. read more

What's great is that its atv/sxs access.....the atmosphere was great with outside dining by the lake, the service was great, and the food was delicious. If your in the area, and need some good food, stop on in.....side note, the pizza my friend got looked amazing as well!! read more

Hidden pub in the hikers hostel is worth seeking out. Inside is a nice tiny bar but the waterfront back yard is where it's at! Fast friendly waitstaff. Ok draft beer selection. I would love to give this place a 5 - really would. Lots of reasons for 5 stars, like the food, friendly waitstaff, camp like ambiance. The only thing holding me back is the crazy wait time on a not so busy Sunday, for the food to be served. Like over an hour wait time for a sandwich and fried fish special. But I digress...on to the good! The fried fish was outstanding! There was a very large amount of flaky fresh haddock that had the perfect coating and was not greasy at all. I would say - some of the best I've had! I opted for the side salad instead of the fries. I'll not make that mistake again. Don't get me wrong, the salad was fresh and very nice...but those fries that came with the Reuben were excellent! I'm not sure, maybe hand cut? They had a great seasoning on them and were so crispy with a soft center. If they are from frozen- I want the company name to figure out where to get some for myself! My husband enjoyed his Reuben as well. Oh, and bonus was that they had my favorite hard cider - freedom's edge, sweet mulled, as well WHICH they served in a chilled glass. Love it! We will definitely be back, but not when we're super hungry or in a hurry to get either upta camp or home. I get things run slower in that neck of the woods, but moving things along in the kitchen a little faster would do wonders for those passing through! read more

Best staff and the food is excellent. it is also a Cheers type bar where you get to mingle with the locals. the view out over Lake Hebron sets the atmosphere for a real Maine experience. Don't pass through Monson without a stop at this iconic restaurant. read more

A challenging review for me. We arrived 3:50 pm on a Saturday. First time in and I've driven by countless times. Pretty robust menu, everything from fish & chips (which my wife had), to burgers & tuna steaks. I had a Ruben with fries. Ruben was decent. Fries were fantastic as they were hand cut & dusted with seasoning. My challenges is we left at 5:15-5:20 PM. Their speed of service is a one star for not being very busy. I wish I'd known as I just figured it was a small local bar where we could grab a quick early bite to eat and be on our way, but there was no way that was going to happen looking at the tables around us and there speed of service. Waitress was nice, pricing is fair and the interior is rustic. Maybe I'm out of line as this is just rural Maine & they get to it when they get to it. Not sure if I'd go back for sit down service but would entertain take out if they offer it. read more

Steak Bomb! Steak Bomb! Steak Bomb! Wow was that a great sandwich! They have a good beer menu and we had some quesadillas that were also very good. Great ambiance for a cold January day and I bet in the summer when the lake is not frozen it can be even better! Service was very good as well. We ate in the bar and it was a little loud but not too distracting. I'm planning to return when I'm back up this way. There were a few apps I wanted to try but just didn't have room or time for them on this trip. I'm steak bombing it next time for sure though! Loved that one! read more

5 stars for ambience and a clean bathroom. 0 stars for not serving us. We stopped in to have a late lunch because we had heard really good things about this place. When we entered the pub the waitress suggested that we take a seat by the in the Adirondack chairs by the dock. They were a couple of other tables that we're just finishing their meals, but no one else to come in. My companion got up and used the bathroom and was again greeted warmly by the waitress. After waiting between 25 to 30 minutes we got up and left... and the same waitress who handed us the menus and suggested we sit in those Adirondack chairs looked at us with a big smile and said thanks for coming in! So thanks for letting us use the restroom? We would really like to give this place another try, however, we would have to insist that we actually get served read more

Im very happy that we drove 20 minutes out of our way to eat here! The chicken wings alone were worth the drive! We had the Thai flavored bone in wings!! Top notch and worth stopping in for! Actually all their appetizers sounded great and next time we go I'll probably try a few! They had a nice beer and wine selection as well as desert menu!! Nice stop while Touring We came for a very late lunch (dunch). There is some outdoor seating on a deck looking out to the water. We choose to sit inside. Portions are plentiful. My husband had the Bomb. He said it was very good. I had the Fish Fry which was 3+ pieces of haddock. Very good. What a sweet little place nestled in an ol'home sitting on the lake with stunning views. Love that all the establishments we visited are following COVID guidelines-we felt at ease and were able to enjoy ourselves. We started with smoked trout, followed by a bowl of Chili and Loaded Potato Soup. Our boys enjoyed pizza (which was ok) and a chicken quesadilla. Whether I'm in a hurry or not, it would be nice to be acknowledged by the staff when you walk in. We waited and waited just to order a beer and no one looked at us for a good 10 minutes. 4 people walked by us sitting at the bar and no one said a word. No, I'll be right with you, I'm sorry it's busy (wasn't that busy).. or even a friendly smile or hello. My dad and I stayed with Nick for two nights during an AT section hike. Nick and all staff were super nice, helpful, and easy to work with. Rates are reasonable. Love the location of this restaurant and everyone is friendly however service is horrendous regardless of the fair warning, not to come if your in a rush. Nobody should have to wait 15 minutes for a waitress then wait another 20 minutes for a draft beer and glass of wine! Followed by our food order receiving appetizers after our main dish while never receiving the glasses of water we asked for immediately. We also requested another beer, that was never served! We would not have minded the laid back service if we at least had a drink. We actually wanted to stay longer and enjoy the view but we couldn't wait to get out of there and stop for a bottle of water! The food was okay but not for that long a wait. We've given this place a couple of chances and had the same experience each time. I've read reviews on other sites and people have written the same thing yet seems like no one is listening. read more

Rebecca, the owner of the Lakeshore House Pub, has more energy than anybody has a right to. She puts it all into her restaurant and it shows. I didn't expect much in this out-of-the-way place but was hugely surprised at the good food served up. The salads were fresh and delicious, the fried cauliflower was unique and yummy, the hamburgers looked delicious. There was a selection of beer on draft as well as wine and a full bar. The back patio and dock on Lake Hebron was a nice venue for food and drink as was open mike night on Thursdays which had a interesting casual bunch singing along to 60-70's folk songs with guitars and an accordion player. Oh, and there are some inexpensive AT hiker places to stay upstairs. Get a shower, do some laundry and come out back for some food and fellowship. read more

The menu states clearly that if you're in a hurry this is not the place to go. This is accurate. The staff is very nice but if you don't get a seat on the outdoor deck or in the back room - where you can see the lake - it's probably not worth the wait. We waited 15 to 20 minutes to order and then 45 to 60 minutes for our food. It was decent but not outstanding. Yum! My Mom and I were "on business" in Monson lately. We rented a cabin in Monson and decided to try out the Lakeshore House Pub based on other renters' reviews. I ordered the French Onion Soup (small serving but delicious) and the Garlic Honey Mustard chicken wings. My Mom had the Lobster roll with a side salad. She said that everything was excellent, and she even tried my chicken wings. If you come here, you MUST try the Triple Berry Cobbler. Comes with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. If you drive too fast through Monson you might miss it. The only real issue was that the establishment had a ten-person reservation for dinner when we were there. Definitely needs more space, as it can accommodate three families nicely in the back room. read more

Escargot, smoked trout, calamari all delicious. The food is complemented by the vibe in the place. There was live music that was great. Not too loud and great sounding. The decor is hard to describe.
