The beer at this place was delicious! Server was very helpful in picking out some local beers to try, and they have so many options. Food was also very good, and we enjoyed hanging out on the patio while enjoying our drinks and food. Very laid back atmosphere and would happily return.

Tap & Barrel was a super fun, lively bar and kitchen, we came during one of the World Cup games for dinner. Even though it was pretty busy, we only had to wait 5 mins to get a table. The burgers were cooked well, juicy, and didn't feel too heavy. I really liked our server as well, she was great at checking in and making sure we had everything we needed. I also tried a beer from their tap list and it was good!

The cocktails were on point. The food was prepared and presented beautifully. We enjoyed oysters, bluefin tuna tartar and lobster rolls and fresh cut fries. Our server wax wonderful and attentive. Great spot to enjoy dinner and drinks.

Rolled into town and stopped for lunch! Fun atmosphere with a very nice patio if it's a nice day. Friendly bartender that helped us choose the right beer! The street corn scallops were absolutely amazing and cooked perfectly!

Lots of bourbons to choose from!

Excellent find. Fantastic meal. Heck of a good time. Lots of beers and booze to choose from nestled in all warm and cozy in the eclectic environment of Bar Harbor, ME. I had the burger special which was fucking fantastic! I was getting pretty tired of seafood at this point and it was the most refreshing change of pace. It was one of those just in time food experiences. C went for the crab cakes. What a gorgeous version of crab cakes they were! Fancy pants presentation and all things considered some of the best crab cakes we had on our trip. Bartender was really friendly and was super proud of their whiskey/bourbon collection. He did point out a few bottles to us that were really quite special and hard to come across. They had some Penelope variants that were unseen to me. I would come back in a heartbeat. If I lived nearby, I would be here all of the time. There were a ton of interesting menu items I would like to try. '26 - 26

Amazing food and atmosphere. We watched the home run derby and enjoyed some drinks and grilled cheese sandwiches. I had the lobster grill cheese and my friend had the amber. We both upgraded our side to one of their salads. Both amazing! Also the bartender sings, takes pictures if you ask, and is super cute.

What a great spot! We went for the chicken wings and took advantage of the bone marrow special. Both were so good! And the bartender, Marina, was so nice and helpful! If you're looking for bourbon, this is also the place with over 180 different selections. This restaurant has a good amount of outside seating, limited inside seating with an open air design and seating at the bar. There's a lot of parking nearby but is pay per plate M-F.

We stopped here for lunch. The food was great, service was good and the craft beers in tap were excellent. I had the scallop street corn dish with seared scallops in a dish of homemade creamed corn which I recommend. Others in our party had the lobster roll, the French dip, the fried haddock sandwich and a burger. All agreed that the food was very good and we would stop there again.

I came here with a group of 5 adults and 2 dogs. We were happy to find a spot that was dog friendly! We picked a spot on the patio that was under a tree to keep out of the sun. The waiter was very friendly and answered all of the questions that we had about the menu. He even put up with my dad's very bad "dad jokes" the entire time. The beer menu was overwhelmingly large. They had just about everything that you could ever want. Everyone enjoyed their food very much.

Came here for dinner on a Saturday in November. We were able to be seated at the bar when we came in. Inside has good seating and outside is covered and had heating which was nice. Atmosphere is nice and bartender was friendly. I ordered the crab cakes and really enjoyed them! I just wish there was a little more food because I was hungry afterward for $24. But we still enjoyed our dinner!

Great smash burger and cozy setting. We sat outside despite the chilly weather. The service was a bit slow but they were very busy. I was only disappointed that they ran out of French fries, so I had some chips with my burger.

Great service, drinks, ambiance and food. What we ordered: Lobster Grilled Cheese Lobster with American + Goat Cheese. (Absolutely delicious!! Highly recommend!) + Short Rib Grilled Cheese Braised Short Rib with Caramelized Onions, American + Cheddar Upgraded our sandwiches side to French fries instead of the chips since they looked way too good to pass up!

Excellent food (lobster grilled cheese, scallops, truffle Caesar, soup and lobster roll 10/10) Awesome service, ambiance, seating options and even music. Loved our experience, and highly recommend anyone to stop here! Patio is also highly dog friendly!!

Ask the Community - Tap & Barrel Tavern

Do they have gluten free bread options?

Yes we gave gluten free buns.

    Do they take reservations?

Im sorry we are first come first serve but we are usually able to make room rather quickly.

Is this kid friendly/good for families?

Absolutely, there are some tables for you to sit at but it is rather small inside. They have games to play and usually have some funny videos playing on one TV.

Spend that time wandering Main Street's shops, because the wait was worth the bite. The shrimp and scallop scampi arrived swimming in garlic, butter, and pasta (perfect fuel before a half marathon). My uncle's fish and chips delivered an actual deep-fried slab of fish, somehow golden and perfectly cooked. And then the seafood pie: crispy, flaky, golden on top in a way that looks borderline burnt but is actually just butter and scallops doing what butter and scallops do. This dish was basically chowder, piled high with fish... And some more fish, with a dash of chowder. The menu comes on a blue card with specials posted outside, lobster roll price included, which is a small kindness when half the island hides behind "market rate." My fish and chips were more fish stick than dockside catch, but the chips were crunchy and delicious. My partner and I had no complaints on the salt front, but apparently my aunt had enough for all of us. We snuggled four into a booth, sticky tabletop and all. My aunt would call the sticky table a detractor; I'd call it the point. The staff was prompt and genuinely warm, not just to us but visibly to each other; someone had to step out mid-rush it was seamless enough you almost missed it.
