I had a terrible experience at this store ten days ago. I don't live in Patagonia, but go there occasionally to hike. I bought a head of romaine lettuce. I was charged 5 cents tax. I have never seen a tax on fruits and vegetables. When I questioned this, the manager came and in a very rude voice said something about a local politician, and that I should 'go and talk to them'. I responded that they should put a sign to warn customers and she said ' Well, no one's ever complained about it before!'. I have never been treated like this before in any business. Red Mountain has many customers from out of town, and the manager knows that. A real professional, like the former owners, would have calmly explained it to me. I had made it a point over the years (since 2010!) to try and support this business, despite their high prices. I never should have been humiliated like that. It's so much easier to bring my own food with me from Tucson when I visit Patagonia - it's cheaper and much better quality. I will never step foot in Red Mountain again. read more

This is a wonderful store in Patagonia. If you are expecting a Safeway, you'll be disappointed. They have a great selection of vegetables and greens, many grown locally and a wide selection of healthy foods, meats and spices. Also, they have a big selection of coffees. Patagonia has plenty of pizza shops and saloons, so we were thrilled to find a grocery store. It's not just any grocery store, either! They have a big selection of fresh fruit and vegetables, local pecans, plant-based milk and ice cream, organic cereal and dry goods. They also have natural soap, toothpaste, etc. This is a great place to stop on your way to/from Patagonia Lake or other nearby areas. Leave your plastic in your wallet though; they only take cash or food stamps. read more

What an amazing store! One stop for organic and specialty foods. The store is very organized and the food are well stocked. The store owner is so friendly she talks to the customers like their family. We bought micro greens and heirloom for tomatoes to make it in a salad. The taste was so refreshing! I would definitely go back and grocery shop here to support a local business business in the Town of Patagonia. read more

I have spent a significant amount of time in Patagonia this year and have been very impressed with Red Mountain foods. They have fish fillets flown in from Alaska weekly, a nice assortment of vegetables and fruits (including unique options you wouldn't expect), and just an overall great selection for being such a small place. I recently bought their homemade peanut butter and it has to be the best PB I have ever had. This summer they also had a farmer's market on Thursday morning so would recommend checking that out. Sweet, little oasis in a tiny town. Prices and fresh food quality are both great! Selection is outstanding for a small grocer. Very good selection for such a small town. Produce is fresh and as local as possible. Most items are labeled with their place of origination, which helps with decision making. As far as the 'no credit or debit card' policy- well- that's practically to be expected in a small town, so travelers should keep that in mind no matter what their destination. Cash is easily obtained, and checks are also an option. Personally, I don't leave home without them. Anyway, every time I visit this town, I've managed to get most of what I need here, and whatever they don't have, I can usually pick up at the Patagonia Market. read more

The fact that this high quality small town grocery store exists in rural Arizona is phenomenal. A great selection of healthy food, bulk foods, good quality produce, and priced to move sale items makes me think that the owners are pretty savvy. We are addicted to the bulk multicolor popcorn.
