Despite some of the negative reviews.... I can't say that I've ever experienced anything but excellent service. Several people from my office visit the salon regularly and are met with the same. Granted, due to the pandemic, some changes have been made...(I.e., scheduled appts versus walk-ins).. which I happen to appreciate! The salon is clean...and although I can't speak on everyone's encounter, I've witnessed the equipment being sterilized and not merely "washed or rinsed" between clients. Yong has been my tech for years and not only does she do a great job....her personality is infectious, she is entertaining, and is always smiling or laughing! read more

Made appointments for pedicures. Staff was not very nice. The instruments used for the pedicures were not sterilized. They just rinse them between people Didn't know they only take cash until we went to pay. I had to call my husband to come and bring me cash. They should tell you when you make they appointment they only take cash. Or at least have it posted on the door. read more

Went for a walk-in visit, I had never been before but it was suggested to me from a friend, that always does walk ins, I expected a wait time. Saturday morning at 10:30, I walk-in, 7 people are already getting nails, no one waiting. No one getting pedicures, which is what I wanted. I was barked at to wash hands then sign in. I said okay. Then washed hands, signed in, and sat in the waiting area. After about 5 min I am asked if I had an appointment. I said "No, I'm a walk in, I've never been here before." And someone said "OH well no walk in today. We booked you have to have appointment. Sorry." I said "Okay? But the sign says walk-in's welcome. Then someone said "NOT today, booked. BYE!" So I left and will not go back even with an appointment. The placed looked kind of grubby, so no loss. Very rude people and some of the other customers even looked shocked. read more

I try not to leave bad Yelp reviews, but I don't encourage people to go here. This was my first visit here, and I told them over the phone. I didn't see any cash only signs, but maybe I just missed them (not a big deal because I had cash but just a tip if this is your first visit). Every place I get dip always asks me if I want fake tips for my powder nails. They did not. Before beginning powder, I asked them about the tips. They said it was too late (before starting the powder). Then she continued to sand the cuticle down until it started bleeding. Lastly, I know dip is time consuming, but this was the longest it has ever taken for me to get this done. This is my first bad experience with dip. I travel for work and always have great luck with nail places until now. read more

I decided to stop in for a pedicure during my lunch hour recently. Red Nails moved to a new location about a month ago next to Sub and Roll. I've never been to the old location, but the new location is bright a clean. There were a few people in the salon, but I was able to get in without an appointment. If you want a specific person, you should probably call ahead. The pedicure station was clean and I saw them spray down the foot bath. All of the nail stylists wore gloves, as well. Pedicure was $30 and they only take cash or check. Cheaper than the local salons and cleaner than the other places I've visited in town. read more

I have gone to Red Nails on-and-off for more than 5 years now. I have had nothing but good experiences with all the ladies there, but I've always disliked the man when I get a pedicure. He just comes across to me that he felt he was too good to give pedicures and any chance he got he would switch out with a lady so he could do someone else's hands. Lately I had been requesting a "female", but last time I forgot and ended up with him. Long story short, he got mad at me when I tried to tell him where I needed my nail trimmed, he barked "you sit back, I know what I'm doing" and then proceeded to cut the wrong spot way too short. When I told him to stop, he got mad and refused to finish my services, leaving me to sit in the chair more than 45 min until another lady came and finished for me. I'm writing this post more than 48 hours later, because my toes are still in pain from being cut way too short. read more

This review is based on the lack of customer service, solely. I went in to see if I could have my nails redone before I caught my flight home to Atlanta. I had about 6 hours before my flight, but had to drive to Indianapolis. So I had time, but not an extended amount. When I walked in, NO ONE spoke to me. I literally had to say, "Excuse me?" to whoever would turn their head to even acknowledge me. I finally got the one woman, who was doing (two?) pedicures, attention. She said, "Can help you you?" I asked if they provided the service for SNS nails. She said it was $39. In my head, I'm thinking WHY...in Richmond, IN?? Ummm..okay. Then I asked if there was a wait. This is where the customer service fails. She doesn't answer my question. She begins to ask me if I have SNS nails now? If I want to soak? If I can sit at the station to soak? Finally, I interrupted her line of questioning to explain that I had a flight to catch, so if she could just tell me if there was a wait time. She finally answers and says 45 minutes. Umm..ma'am. You just wasted 5 minutes of my time, by NOT answering the question initially. If she had answered, I would have walked out long before I tried to get detailed specifics. I hate when people answer AROUND a question! Just answer the DAMN question you're being asked! Customer service skills are non-existent in this establishment. But then again, it was not ATLANTA. I came in from out of town for a work meeting. Because I had picked off half of my gel polish - I HAD to get my nails done before the meeting in the morning. Stumbled upon Red Nails via Yelp when searching from my hotel. Walked in and was seated right away. They are cash/check only - FYI. Lilly did a manicure/gel polish with design. She was fabulous!! I always ask for Allen or Jenny! My usual services are either a pedicure and/or a gel manicure. Pedicures($30) last several months and the gel manicure($30) last 2-3 weeks. I wouldn't go anywhere else in Richmond to get these services done! read more

Went through get my nails done and the lady at station number four messed them up. They were coming up on the top and under my nails after only having them a few days. I then went in yesterday she wasn't there so I was told to come back tomorrow morning and she will have to fix them for free. When it came time for her to fix them she was irritated by it and tried not to show it but she did. She was very careless when redoing me nail as well as doing them the first time seeing as I had to come back. She wasn't looking at my nails when doing them. She was talking to other customers and being snappy with me when talking to me. She also talked about me to another coworker. When filing my nails she wasn't looking some Of the time and when I pointed out they were very crooked and not even she was upset and said I'm not done and then made a joke out of it and said I'm not done girlfriend. None of this situation was funny. I tipped her $5 for redoing my nails For me because I felt bad not paying for it even though it was her fault they were like that. When I have her the money she gave me a dirty look and said mhhhm. I wanted to take my money back but I just let it go. Also when I was explaining to her what was wrong she tried blaming it on me instead of taking ownership to her mistakes. Don't ever suggest to go to worker 4. I will be going back and going to #6 I have heard she is good my mother goes to her every time she goes in there. You shouldn't be made to feel bad because someone else made a mistake because they are more worried about the money they are going to make rather than her clients nail. I am blown away! I had a terrible experience at another Richmond salon (Elite in the mall) today and came to Red Nails to finish the services I still needed. Yong was amazing. Not only did she get down on the floor to fix the terrible polish job on my toes from that other salon, but she did not charge me for it. The error I experienced today had nothing to do with Red Nails, however she wanted to ensure I had a better day. She also gave me a beautiful dip powder French manicure. Girl has skills. She has a motto to never file too much. So, I am confident that she won't kill the health of my nails. Frequent customers of hers can attest to how strong their nails are despite years of gel or powder at the hands of Yong. She's THAT good. And hilarious--really gives you an enjoyable experience without rushing you out the door. She takes her time, which I really appreciate as customers go to be pampered not shoved out with crappy quality. Do not go anywhere else in Richmond, ladies. Trust me, I've experienced them, and they don't hold a candle to Yong. read more

I was in town in business and came here on a whim for a quick manicure. My nails turned out nice, no complaints. The lady that did my nails was quiet and nice - perfect for relaxing after a long day of work. The only thing that was weird and I didn't like was instead of soaking your nails in warm soapy water, they use a wax heater to warm up lotion and have you stick your nails in that. I almost burnt my fingertips it was so hot. I could really submerge my nails in it because in spite of the lady unplugging the heater thing and adding cool lotion, it stayed burning hot. Even if it wasn't hot it was just kind of weird. Polish looks great though! read more
