It's easy to find, just right next to the downtown YMCA. The entrance is at second Street and Guthrie. There is a light, which makes it easy to turn in from all directions. The parking is by far the cheapest I've found in town. The rates did just go up, but that's not a big deal because honestly, where else can you park downtown for two dollars? ($1 for 3 hours if you're a YMCA member) Being on the outskirts of downtown, you are in for a little bit of a walk to reach your final destination. From the garage to the Second Street Bridge/Yum Center is about a half a mile. To the Kentucky Center, or the other cool things down W. Main St. is about a mile. The garage usually has a parking attendant. They except credit card. And there are the occasional times when there is no attendant present, but they just lift the gate. This equals free parking! The garage has 4 levels. If you need to park and go into the Brown school, there is a sky bridge on the third floor that leads to the school. The garage is fairly well lit. There are stairs on two corners of the garage. There's also an elevator if you choose to go the lazy route. If you do choose the elevator, and it's early in the morning or chilly - be prepared, there's a real good chance there might be a homeless person in the area at the bottom of the elevator. (This is the main office entrance for the Metro YMCA Association office). Having grown up at the YMCA, then working there during high school and college, i've been in this garage all times of day. For 4:30am - 11pm and I've never felt unsafe or been hassled.

I get it that parking garages serve a need, but this one annoys me. It takes FOREVER to park here. It isn't terribly wide and each and every turn is super tight and somewhat blind. You can't zip up a few floors and park. Assuming you are lucky to even get in on the 3rd. I often find myself circling for 10 minutes and parking up high. The killer part is the price. 1 hour: $3.50, 4+ hours $8.75 A meter right next to the parking garage is $1/hour. Sure you have to feed it every 2 hours, but damn that makes a huuuge difference. The all day parking at most of the surrounding ground lots are 5 or 6 bucks and one of them is 7. We are in Louisville, downtown or not, a city where our prices are almost always so reasonable. 8.75 just doesn't count as that for me. Ouch.

The inside is beautiful, spacious, and well maintained. My school hosted our graduation here, and it was an excellent choice. Getting there was easy because we stayed at a hotel directly across the street, and our room even overlooked the venue. I didn't have to worry about parking as I parked at the hotel and walked across the street, but I believe there is either street parking or garage parking available. Outside, my school had several photo props set up, which made for a fun experience before and after the ceremony. From the moment we arrived, everything was well organized. There were staff members throughout the venue directing graduates and guests, so I never felt confused about where to go. They even had people available to help graduates get dressed properly and make sure everything looked perfect before taking pictures. Although there were nearly 1,000 graduates, the ceremony moved along surprisingly well and didn't feel overly long. The seating for spectators looked comfortable, and it seemed like there was a good view of the stage from every section. The venue was also very comfortable, I never felt too hot or too cold during the ceremony. The graduates' seating was nice, and I appreciated that there were large TV screens displaying each graduate as they crossed the stage so family and friends could easily see them. The stage setup looked great, and staff members were there to assist graduates as they walked up and down the steps, which made everything feel safe and organized. The school offered both a morning and an afternoon ceremony, and I attended the afternoon one. Everything appeared to have been cleaned and reset before our ceremony began, and the event ran smoothly from start to finish. There was no food served at the event, but overall, my graduation was a wonderful experience, and I thought this venue did an excellent job hosting such a large event.

Seriously though, they have a library, a ValuMarket, a second-hand store, and the best movie theatre in the city. There are some restaurants attached to the mall as well (The Backdoor, a halal buffet, the aforementioned Subway, and a Ramen spot). This is also a great place to park.
