My bf and I tried on life jackets while she grabbed our canoe and paddles and she pushed us out into the water. There are two paths, a scenic path and a path with food, both are very pretty though. We saw so many animals but I could only take pictures of so many. When you go to the restaurants you do have to tie up your boat yourself but that's super easy like even I figured it out. There are two restaurants on the path, a bar type restaurant and a seafood restaurant. We went to the bar and i'd definitely recommend it! We decided there to keep our original reservation since it there was only a small chance of rain. The staff on-site was super nice. They helped us load into the water & helped us get out. They had life jackets & various sizes so you could choose one that fit. Unfortunately for us, it rained about 45min after we got into the water but we found some trees to hide under until the rain stopped. It was actually pretty cool experience to watch it rain. Super relaxing. It was a nice kayak trip! Definitely will be back!

We rented a boat from James(owner)to go fishing for a couple hours. All was good until we tried to…read morerestart the boat to move to a different fishing location. The boat wouldn't turn over and we had to troubleshoot for about 20-25 minutes. Once we got "emergency instructions" as according to James over the phone, we were able to get the boat back running and returned immediately to the docks. This ended our trip 30-45 minutes early plus the time we spent troubleshooting the boat so we asked James for a refund of the cost of just 1-hour. At that point he became hostile and told me "if I was an experienced boater like I claimed I was" there wouldn't have been any issues. He claimed all experienced boaters know you never turn a boat off on a river. I grew up boating on the Colorado River and this is news to me. James then became visibly angry and starting yelling that if we didn't leave the docks immediately he was going to call the police and tell them we were operating under the influence. I was DD for our trip and I hadn't drank that day so I welcomed him to do so. He then retreated to the office and never came back out. We decided to cut our losses. What turned out as a nice Sunday of fishing with friends ended on a very sour note. I won't be renting from James or this company ever again.

Notification wasn't until the morning of the cruise, your travel insurance doesn't cover it, and you're given a voucher to take a "cruise only" within the next year. The meal and entertainment was fair and the boat stayed dockside. We live 6 hours away and have no plans to return to Louisville any time soon. The most annoying part was on the next night. We took a walk on the Big 4 Bridge and guess what comes passing under? Yep the Belle of Louisville, and had we had known, we could have used our vouchers...

Upon boarding the boat, the crew offered a bourbon service that would rival most any local selection. We all enjoyed lovely bourbon refreshments! Together with visitors from Tennessee and other nearby states, we learned some Kentucky River geography and history, along with equine, bourbon, and horse racing history. The captain was skillful and knowledgeable, as she cruised the riverboat on the sunny Sunday afternoon. The tour guide was a true font of history with amusing anecdotes of his personal career in the bourbon industry and his overall knowledge of the Commonwealth. He was friendly, engaging and humorous. The round trip ride lasted about 90 minutes. The boat was very nice with bench seating and the ride was smooth. We sat upstairs in the open air to enjoy to scenery. A bar tender will take drink orders and deliver beverages to your seats. Drink prices are reasonable. Drinks can also be ordered and purchased on line. (I think snacks were also available). We booked our cruise several months in advance with tour and tasting tickets at Buffalo Trace Distillery. Two members of our party backed out and we were able to cancel their reservations (thankfully) the week before and get a refund. We started with our visit to Buffalo Trace. We arrived about an hour early so we could shop at the distillery and we were glad we did because we did not have time to shop after the tasting and getting to the boat. The tight timeline between the tasting and the boat departure was the only downside to the trip. I recommend the cruise, but plan on going at least an hour early to the distillery to shop.

He scolded me for not paying attention. However, we had two people rent our a dingy which in hindsight- if he would've mentioned that then they would make more money-- instead of scolding my group for having ONE extra person. Also! Book ahead when getting a boat! They fill up fast and when I called about the weather looking like it might lightening and thundering-- they were not concerned and said I could reschedule but they don't have many weekends. I'd suggest they be more willing work with people on weather and to remind people on protocols such as 10 people and offering solutions.

A great little park and a good place to launch a kayak from without paying a launch fee…read more I haven't done any hiking or anything else here except for start an afternoon of kayaking. My friend made the suggestion when we were looking for spot to launch that wouldn't cost $15/boat. The convenience of this cost savings makes up for the downsides. The two downsides are the small, tight parking lot and the long trail from the parking lot to the place where you can put your kayak in to the water. That second problem could be mitigated by the use of a hand wagon...we just need to get one. Ha ha! I am eager to explore more of the park on foot, but I can certainly guarantee I will be back here for more kayaking adventures.

Really cool park that is hidden in a neighborhood of Prospect!…read more I came with a few friends and we hiked the trails. It's not a difficult hike, but there are some hills, rocks, creeks. There are benches to rest on and swings too. I got a bit out of breath sometimes because it was a bit more strenuous than I anticipated. We saw lots of people walking their dogs, kayaking/canoeing. There used to be a waterfall you could check out, but it's not closed off since it's private property. You can park down in here in the small lot.

I saw one swimming and it went right towards the guy's fishing line and attacked it as I predicted. For some reason he started to reel it in (I would have cut the line or waited and given him my rod if it started to climb the line). The snake "jumped" off the line and swam away under the bridge and into the dark part by the grass.....umm ok time for me to walk...fast....away. So be careful!
