Built in 1894 for the Bowman family & lived in until 1974, it only had three families live there. Filled with furniture from the original owners & family pictures on the walls, it really shows the lifestyles of living in this time period. From the coal burning fireplaces to the ice box in the kitchen to the wooden Mormon beds, this home is a must see!

I had never heard of any of the movies myself, but I also don't consider myself to be a fan of western movies. So that that as you will. There's a large gift/souvenir shop that you walk through to get to the movie sets. They ask for a donation of $5 per person by way of a donation box at the door. The gift shop has a variety of items-some of them made locally and others made in China. It's a strange mix. I would assume this place is on the route for tour busses, because I saw a few of them during my visit. Plenty of parking out front, even with the busses.

This museum displays artifacts and archival materials of the people who lived here (Native Americans) and the people who then subsequently colonized the area. There's also information and displays about the fossils found in the area. I didn't watch the film being shown due to time constraints. There is a gift shop located in the museum with the usual NPS offerings. Overall, I thought that the museum was good, even though it appeared that some of the exhibits were a little on the older side. There's a lot of empty space in the museum, probably to accommodate a lot of visitors during the busy season. It's worth a stop to learn more about the area, and especially if you want a place to cool off from the heat.

I didn't know, but apparently there are fourteen new dinosaur species that were discovered in the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. Super impressive especially given how unwelcoming the weather can be. There are both indoor and outdoor exhibits about paleontology and geology. There are also bathrooms and picnic areas, although it was pretty hot when I visited and no one was using them. Very informative! It's worth a stop if you're in the area.

We learned this visitor center is one of four visitor centers in the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument and is operated by the Bureau of Land Management. The visitor center has a lot of information about the monument especially regarding the dinosaurs who once lived in the area and the fossils that have been found in the area. They also have a small book store and gift shop. Overall, it is worth the stop. We didn't plan on doing any trails while in the area as it was a cold afternoon in January but the woman working seemed to be very knowledgeable and was giving another couple recommendations.

Its location right on the main drag of Kanab was convenient as well. I was optimistic when I saw the clearance rack outside, but it all went downhill from there. The items were not logically organized and the staff was the opposite of friendly. We spent a good 10 minutes in the store and the woman at the counter looked around bored the entire time. Everytime we found something that might work, the price was way too high or there wasn't the size that we needed available. I should have taken the hint with the lack of greeting or acknowledgement from staff and not wasted my time!

This review is strictly about the photography displayed in the gallery and the amazing artist…read morebehind the lens. Wow! I was blown away by Jason's photographs. Springdale has three local photography artist with a gallery and they are all very talented, but the photo art at Dezion by Jason Butler was by far my favorite. We are hobby photographers and we felt very fortune to meet and shop talk with the artist and we can tell immediately how passionate he is about his craft and the amazing Nature that surrounds his home. Jason's photos reflects who he is. In his photos you can feel the humble love and respect he has for nature and he has honed his craft to capture that love in the most amazing photographs. I wish I had 10% of his talent! Although we walked in close to closing time, he spent quite a bit of time with us talking about where and how the various photos were taken and showed us some of his favorite lenses giving even more life and the stories behind the photos. Strangely, one of my favorite photos was the night shot of the Hoover Dam. We only met him once but we left feeling like we made a new friend. Make sure and stop by the gallery when you visit Zion and say hello to Jason!

If you're into hidden history and Old West vibes, Silver Reef Ghost Town is one of the coolest…read morestops in Southern Utah--and honestly, it feels like stepping straight into a movie set. We stopped here not expecting much, but it completely surprised us. This wasn't just any ghost town--it was once a booming mining town in the late 1800s with over 1,500-2,000 people, all chasing silver that was somehow found in sandstone (which is basically unheard of). Walking through the area, you can still see preserved buildings like the old Wells Fargo office and other remnants that give you a real glimpse into what life was like back then. The museum is small but packed with artifacts, and the guided tour adds a lot of context to the experience. What really makes this place stand out though is the setting. You've got these insane red rock cliffs surrounding the town, so it doesn't just feel historic--it's actually beautiful too. There are also trails nearby if you want to explore a little more. Overall, Silver Reef feels like a hidden gem that most people drive right past. It's quick, unique, and surprisingly fascinating. If you're anywhere near St. George or Zion, it's 100% worth the stop. Beautiful grounds which include yucca trees, cactus, and sagebrush. Great off the beaten path place to be still and look around. I really got a sense of good energy from there. Very cool. So goon set his drone out to follow me, buzzed behind my car guessing to get a plate, buzzed me a couple times....I flipped it off a 2-3 times and it eventually left....how rude.
