After our Jollibee chicken visit, my eldest daughter and I ventured right next door (literally a few footsteps away LOL) to Red Ribbon (I have caught myself calling them Red Robin LOL) for some mamons and whatever cakes they have available at the time. I have been here once before, but just haven't gotten a chance to do the review until now. So here we are... staff was very friendly and helpful. The gentleman behind the counter answered my questions the best he can. Thank you sir! Yeah, they ran out of Ube Flan! And it's not part of the Cake Sampler either if you're wondering... I already asked LOL. Anyway, I ended up getting the Ube Overload which is a nice compromise because I wanted something Ube. Unfortunately, cake was dry, but cream was good. I will have to catch the Ube Flan next time. My eldest daughter love their Cheese mamons so we bought 6 of them and got 1 Butter mamon for free... hey, that's a savings of $2.47 as that's the price of an average mamon LOL. Any penny found is a penny saved! By the way, a mamon is basically the infamous Filipino-style sponge cake. Very light and spongy the way we like it. They do have several mamon flavors to choose from. Be Happy Choosing! Store is nice with lots of tables and chairs in front of it. This eating area is shared between all the eateries and shops around it. Love this concept! Mamon and individual cake slice prices aren't bad at all, but their cakes are a tad high. Cake sampler is about $37, but you are getting 4 different cakes to try... I guess that's okay since you won't need to buy 4 whole cakes to accomplish the cake taste testing desire LOL. With its' deep purple color and semi sweet taste carried through in many of the products from cakes, rolls and mamons. The rolls are like jelly rolls. Several good flavors to try here. I like the mango and ube coconut but they are all good. The colors are so vibrant you almost don't want to eat them. Vibrant yellow and deep rich purple. Screw it! I'm eating them. And have! Several times over the years. Cakes are amazing. Ube and Mango are really brought out here. Other cakes are available but the mango supreme cake and ube overload cake is what I normally go for. These are available as celebratory cakes for special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries. Don't forget to get some pan de sal, a Filipino bread bun. It's an all time Filipino favorite. Filipinos love eating this in the morning with their coffee. I often frequent the fried chicken place next door to Red Ribbon and noticed the beautiful display of bakery goods. Being that I have a full set of sweet teeth's I had to try them out. I was going to purchase the Ube Overload, Mango Supreme and the Ube Flan one cake at a time. I end up buying the Mango Supreme first (my kids love Mango) and a slice of the Ube Flan (as a teaser). The Ube Flan was yummy with a nice texture of the flan being firmer and the soft Ube cake with cream. The Mango Supreme on the other hand had a slight strange aftertaste.. I will always have a special place for Red Ribbon because I love desserts, bread, baked goods and chocolate. They are the only place I know that sells individual chocolate cake slices, who does that? You can literally have a slice of chocolate cake every day of the week! If diabetes and diseases weren't a thing, this would be a staple in our pantry. There are so many other things here I want to try! I love getting their empanadas, my favorite flavor is the beef one. I crack it open and it's warm, buttery, savory and so comforting. They also sell soft pandesal (bread rolls) and oh yes, party cakes! They have pre-made cakes ready for purchase which is always a quick way to find a cake. They also conveniently provide a disposable cake cutter and sometimes (if you ask) they'll provide a HBD sign and/or candle. You can view all the premade cakes in the glass case, my personal favorite is their chocolate mousse cake, ooOooyum! My older brother & I can devour that easily in 1-2 days. Also, the taste of everything is always consistent, you'll never buy the same thing again a few months later and wonder why it tastes odd. They are located inside the Seafood City Supermarket and usually doesn't have a long line when I visit. The cashiers are quick, efficient and friendly. It's fairly clean and straight forward.
