We recently ordered a custom cake from Mr. Baker for a bridal shower, and it turned out absolutely gorgeous and delicious! This was not our first time ordering from Mr. Baker we usually stop in and pick cakes straight from the display case but this was our first custom cake experience, and it was so easy from start to finish. When we went into the bakery, we were given a card with the email address and told to email the baker directly. I emailed that Saturday while still in the store, and by Sunday morning I already had a response from Victoria. She was wonderful to work with throughout the entire process! I sent her inspiration pictures, and she quickly provided three different quote options. All of the inspiration cakes I sent included fresh flowers, and Victoria explained that we would need to bring our own flowers to the bakery the Friday before pickup so they could safely place them on the cake the next morning. Everything went smoothly, and when we arrived to pick up the cake, it looked absolutely stunning! The flowers we brought in were beautifully arranged, and the entire cake looked elegant and professionally done. We ordered vanilla cake with buttercream and their Strawberry Chiffon flavor, and both were AMAZING. Everyone at the bridal shower kept talking about how delicious the cake was! So many guests had never heard of Mr. Baker before and wanted to know where the cake came from that we actually brought extra business cards and handed them out during the shower. I was looking for a place to grab a drink and a treat after work when I discovered Mr. Baker right down the street. I ordered a strawberry matcha latte, an almond croissant, and a strawberry croissant (for my sister). Two employees were working, and the service was very kind. However, I found the quality of the drink and food to be mediocre. The strawberry matcha was decent and visually appealing, but aside from its cute appearance, nothing stood out in terms of taste. My almond croissant was hard to bite into. This was disappointing as it was flavorful. I'm not sure if it was because I went in the afternoon, but I had to bite and chew harder than expected. May need to ask for reduced sweetener, as I do. The Tiramisu latte is standout when you want something sweet to drink. They have a small selection of tea bags when you want to keep it simple. The BAKERY: High quality. Beautiful to look at and taste usually meets expectations. They have a chocolate cake slice - double chocolate - that is the best chocolate cake we've had around these parts. The rainbow cake and matcha cake are nice options. They honestly have a whole host of flavors that you just have to try until you get your fave. They have a whole assortment of pastries, tarts (nice option, but I've been disappointed in the crust). I love their strawberry croissants and they've been one of my favorites for many years, now. We got a few little treats and everyone liked what they chose. The problem is, it's complex and although I've had many, there has been only 3 in my lifetime that were pretty much perfect-one being here in CA. This one was perhaps slightly better than others I've tried, and worth the taste. Let me add, that the cream in the croissant, and the frosting on the cupcake was light, fluffy and delicious. Now that is where they excelled on MY visit. It's probably the first time I didn't feel the need to take some of it off of a cupcake. I also ordered a caramel latte, I'll just leave that there. The service was a little awkward no warm welcome even tho they were empty the employee was just standing in the front waiting for us to order. We got a tiramisu latte pumpkin cookie and pecan bar. We ended up sailing and being out most of the day, but the cake held up under those conditions. The stock decor was beautiful and my friends enjoyed the cake. Work on customer service. I had a very disappointing experience with Mr. Baker while trying to order a custom cake for my daughter's birthday. When I initially placed the order, I was told that I needed to pay one week before the pickup date. I attempted to call the bakery multiple times on Sunday, which was the cutoff day for payment, but no one answered the phone. I followed up on Monday, and suddenly I was told that the cutoff was Sunday and that I should have paid by then. I explained that I had tried calling the day before and even offered to provide timestamped screenshots of my call log showing my attempts. After sending the screenshot, they asked for additional screenshots showing multiple calls, which felt unnecessary since I had already shown proof of my attempt. During this conversation, Victoria, who handled the situation, was extremely rude and aggressive on the phone. Her tone was unprofessional and dismissive. What made the situation even more confusing was that after reviewing the screenshot, she told me that even if I had provided proof earlier, it would not have made a difference because they were only checking whether their phone system had issues. Yet earlier I was accused of not calling and even told that I had lied After two days of back and forth and a very unpleasant interaction, they ultimately said they would refund the payment because of the situation. Overall, the customer service was very poor, communication was inconsistent, and the interaction felt unnecessarily hostile for what should have been a simple issue. I hope the management improves their communication and professionalism, especially when dealing with customers who are simply trying to resolve a problem.Dont ever talk to Victoria, she's angry and rude. read more
