(Written by my wife.) What was good? 1. Salad was crisp; dressing tasty. 2. Baked potatoes were hot. 3. My husband said his steak was hot and very good. 4. My steak tasted good. 5. Bathrooms were clean. What was bad? 1. Coffee was cold, brown water... 2. ...served with fake cream. 3. The dinner bread was a microwaved, pre-fab, sandwich roll... 4. ...served with fake butter. 5. My steak was fatty and cold. 6. No butter for baked potato. Who serves a water-based, chemical-filled spread in 2015, and calls it butter? 7. A dessert was included with the price of meal, but they wanted to charge us to wrap it To Go. I couldn't stand being there another minute, so we skipped it. Paid for a dessert we never received. 8. Husband's corn-on-the-cob was ice cold. Should I give waitress credit for not suggesting this was normal? Took about five minutes to get it back. 9. Speaking of our waitress, after the cold corn she did try to be friendly. Overall, though, we felt we were an unwelcome bother. In conclusion? I am disgusted. I wish I had protested, but I actually felt so sick to my stomach I decided I'd rather not add to my misery by issuing a fruitless complaint. We wanted to experience a famous, Texas steak - a once in a lifetime experience, right? So disappointing! I seriously hope I don't end up with food poisoning. Thank goodness I never have to eat there again. read more

If I could give it less than one I would and if you're from the NE or even remotely look Native American DON'T hold your breath on service!!!! And don't ask for a burger or anything not a steak cause they'll be fresh out, despite locals being served just that! $10 for 2 ice teas and a salad after a 45 min wait we should have been given those things with an apology! read more

Great food for a place that is in the middle of nowhere. Red mud sandwich and the jalapeno burger is what we had.

Despite the few negative reviews the steak was good! It was definitely better than the Denny's steak the truck driver below mentioned. I would go back. Service was fast so it got us back on the road. And the free cobbler was good! read more

Wait 20 minutes just to get a drink order and then the server was hateful (side note only one other table in the restaurant) after 30 minutes of the server getting the drinks wrong we got our food order put In and the server was rude the whole time! This place has the best food. We had chicken fried steak with baked potato and a wedge salad, and a sirloin with fries and a house salad. Everything was cooked to perfection. The server was very friendly and helpful. They use red bandanas for napkins. Definitely would stop here again when we're in the area. read more

We stopped here hoping for a good Texas steak on our drive from Albuquerque to Oklahoma City and were sorely disappointed. The waitress acted as though we were a bother to her for showing up on an otherwise slow Thursday night. The prices seemed a little high for rural Texas but we brushed it off expecting good quality. My $16 ounce ribeye, which cost $25, could have easily been mistaken for a piece of cooked shoe leather. My wife's 12 ounce sirloin wasn't even an original cut steak, it had seemingly been ground and pressed into a glorified, rather tasteless hamburger. My wife and I visited their Amarillo location when it first opened and did not like it..we decided to give them a second chance....mistake. We went again tonight, Friday Nov. 6th. We ordered an appetizer and dinner. The appetizer did not come and when we asked the waiter about it he said the kitchen had run out ( 5:30 pm on a Friday) Later the manager came by and asked how things were and we told her about the appetizer and she was shocked. She checked and told us the kitchen did not run out. I surmised our waiter and forgotten to place our order and lied about being out. The manager asked the waiter to bring us a complementary dessert which did not arrive before we were ready to leave. The food is marginal, at best, and the service is, well,not up to par. We will NOT be giving them a third opportunity to disappoint us. read more

My boyfriend and I stopped on our way back to Arkansas from a road trip to Breckenridge, CO. The food was great, service was good, and they had the cleanest bathrooms I've ever seen! We left just before the live music began. We were definitely surprised at the greatness considering the location. It was not sketchy, just in the middle of nowhere right off the interstate. Plenty of parking for our big rig. Place was full of locals which is always a good sign. Steaks were tender and tasted great. Basic sides. Dressings on salads tasted house-made. What a great find! We were traveling on Interstate 40 around lunchtime and read the other yelp reviews and decided to try it. We were not disappointed!! The food was terrific. The side salad was large and very fresh. Warm bread was delivered to the table. The steak was excellent!! The wait staff was very helpful and the atmosphere is like out of a movie! Last night I had one of the best Chicken Fried Steaks that I personally have ever tasted. Seriously. Started with a REAL salad, that had all the components of a salad, as opposed to the normal handful of lettuce topped with the obligatory tomato. It's a family steakhouse, so when 8 of us came in for dinner they sat us down promptly. There were two gentlemen with piano & guitar softly singing lovely music that enhanced the visit rather than competing with it. It's quiet enough in there to hold a great conversation, even from opposite ends of the table. The staff was friendly & professional, and my goodness... well everybody enjoyed their food! And when we got the ticket it turned out that all of us had been very well fed, including terrific peach or plum cobbler included in the dinners, for $120. read more

Had the $20 Cowboy Ribeye Steak. It was very tender & cooked a perfect med-rare but was a little short on flavor. (Yelp had a $20 for $10 offer) A little extra salt/seasoning would have helped. Hand cut fries were also lacking salt but that was an easy fix. The dinner salad was fresh and large enough to share. We were in a hurry so we took the free peach cobbler on the run ($1.00 for the 1/4 pint container). If we'd still been at the resturant I'd bought an extra serving of the cobbler - delicious! One star is too many. My steak was well done and I sent it back. When a new steak was cooked it looked much better. When I cut into it it was done but so stringy I couldn't eat it. I tried my baked potato wasn't done, I was amazed. My friend ordered fried catfish and it was so tough she couldn't cut it with a steak knife. The potato salad had no flavor. My daughter got the kabob, the meat was great but the rice was flavorless. Her baked potato was overdone and dry. The tossed salad was ok. read more

This is our second time here. We pass through here on our way to Arizona. The food is really good. Salad is fresh. We had green beans(soft cooked with bacon, onion, and chicken bouillon), baked potato, salad, and corn on the cob. DON'T FORGET the rattlesnake eggs for an appetizer (stuffed jalepenos with cream cheese and wrapped in bacon, deep fried to crisp perfection!) or the fresh grilled jalepenos you can get atop your steak. This was one of the best steaks that we had on the whole trip came with a huge potato and a wonderful new delicious salad. if you're traveling through and traveling by definitely for this ribeye. We stopped in for a late lunch on our way to Palo Duro Canyon. The service was great and the steaks better. They came with a really fresh salad and peach or plum cobbler for dessert. The next day on our way back to Norman OK we had another great meal.So sorry we got there too early for the smoked prime rib at 5:00. Maybe next time we come out to OK. we'll time it right.
