I understand that this is discount hotel. However, we stayed here after hiking the Grand Canyon specifically to take a shower. There was no hot water for the duration of our stay. Around 7pm I told the front desk clerk. He reassured me the hot water was down but it was being worked on and it would be back up within the hour. Otherwise, I would have moved hotels. We never had hot water for the duration of our stay 1 night stay. Expedia reached out on my behalf to request a refund. The hotel would not give any refund. Also there is barely any light and the room and very few outlets. The only good thing is its proximity to the Grand Canyon. We will never stay here again. read more

This is a very run down motel that is NOT clean. The maid doesn't clean, but puts your towels on the bed. Toiletries are very poor quality and are not refreshed by the maid. A filthy pillowcase was put on one of the pillows. Things are held together with duct tape and are hazardously wired (see photo). It is inexpensive, but I have stayed at inexpensive motels that were perhaps a bit outdated, but they were clean and safe. read more

Here is the worst first. I noticed a $50 charge on my credit card after we checked out. I called and was told the cable from the direct tv box that goes to the tv was gone. I said well that explains why the tv didn't work. I was told I took the cable. I assure you I didn't. Since when is a cable $50? The hotel is run down. The furniture screams thrift store rejects. There was black mold above a window. The floor in the bathroom was dirty cement. No flooring at all. The carpet was stained. The pocket door to the toilet was hard to open and shut and extremely loud. We had a room with three beds there was a small table with one chair for the table. It would have been nice to have a couple more chairs. The location is great. Thats about all I liked about the hotel. read more

On the plus side my room was only $35 which was very reasonable. I also had a microwave and fridge which is important since the food options in Kanab are subpar- I bought lots of stuff at the supermarket. On the downside my room was very noisy. I could hear the trucks and cars on the main road and I was at the far back of the complex. The walls were also super thin and I could easily hear every word said from abutting rooms. read more

Where do I begin? My room looked like someone was murdered in it! There were rusty dark red stains on a FILTHY carpet!! The walls were dirty, the beds were uncomfortable, the towels threadbare. It was simply disgusting. I don't think I've ever stayed anywhere so incredibly gross. I would rather camp in the dirt than stay here again. Even the toilet had some sign on it saying I had to remove a rubber band from inside the tank before use! Whaaat?!! YUCK. We honestly loved this place. Not sure what people are expecting but they had comfy beds, AC was functioning better than our 4 star hotel room in Vegas, and it was a cheap bargain. My husband and I came back from an off roading trip and had damaged our tires. The front desk was super helpful and luckily the managers family were staying and they pulled all stops to help us get our car back on the road. Overall, amazing service and we were able get a good nights rest to recharge to get back out onto the roads. read more

If I could, I'd give this place 0 stars. The owner or manager here is very rude, has a crappy attitude, and absolutely zero customer service experience. If you need a budget hotel to stay at in Kanab, check out the Sun-n-Sand Motel across. The owners of that place are locals, nice, and very reasonable. When my wife and I tried to stay here last year, after about 5 mins of waiting at the counter for someone, a guy walked out of his living area sweaty and in dirty pajama clothes. I thought it was rather odd to greet us like that. I then went outside to check on our vehicle and saw a lady sitting on a bench also in some dirty pajamas. She was not sitting there before when we walked in. It was easy to tell what they were doing. When I went back inside, my wife was talking to the guy and I noticed he was being very rude to her. I then asked him if I could park our vehicle, which had a smaller trailer hooked up to it, in front of the room we were going to stay in. He started to just talk loudly to me that I couldn't block the driveway. I told him sternly it wouldn't be blocked. He then proceeded to say some condescending stuff to me. That's when I decided we didn't need to spend out money at his crappy hotel and deal with his crappy attitude. My wife and I then went across to the Sun-n-Sand Motel, and were able to reserve the last room they had there for basically the same price this place was going to charge us. If the place across is full and nothing else is available in town but this place, I would recommend just camping somewhere instead, sleeping in your vehicle, or traveling to the next nearest town with some hotels. This is by far, the worst hotel and worst customer service I've ever experienced in my life. Employee was rude and almost had my car towed because they forgot to give me a parking pass which I didn't know we needed until I saw the tow truck at my car. I grew up poor, staying with my family at Motel 6s all around the country. As my Mom always said, "Just because you are poor doesn't mean you have to be dirty." Red Rock evidently doesn't believe this. I didn't expect a 2 star hotel to be a Hyatt, but this hotel was awful. I am not a diva/complainer but this hotel gave me the creeps and was majorly disappointing. Here's why: --Dirty toilet, walls, door, carpet, chair, everything looked dirty INCLUDING MATTRESS which was stained. I put newspaper down before sitting in the chair in the room. --Holes in walls. Floor is a dark strange concrete in bath area and dirty stained carpet elsewhere. --Barely any water came out of sink even though I turned on both hot and cold. --Cable went down first hour I was there and did not work next day either. ***It rained overnight and the roof in our room leaked RIGHT ON OUR BED. DO NOT STAY HERE!!! I would give it negative stars if I could. I booked a room for 3 nights at $122.76, two days later I changed it to 2 nights at $81.84 total. The day before I arrived in Kanab they charged my credit card $122.76 for the 3 nights, then sent me an email the next morning saying they would not honor the price and were going to charge me $89/night to stay there. This person is dishonest to say the least. read more

This place is much cheaper than the other overpriced motels in town. It has terrible curb appeal on the outside, but the proprietor was friendly enough and our room was functional and reasonably clean. Maintenance is definitely lacking though. We called this place and made reservations a few hours before arriving. When we arrived at 8pm I found no employees in the the office, but there was a child walking around the front desk area. I rang the bell, and even called the number on a sheet posted on the front desk window. I heard the phone ring inside the hotel office when I called and still no adults......no answer strange huh. So when an adult finally arrived I asked for my money back because I did not feel comfortable anymore staying at this hotel. The employee looked me in the eye and said he would charge me an additional 18 dollars if I canceled. When I asked him why, he said because of the trouble I caused him. He finally refunded my purchase and I left. It was a horrible experience, I do not recommend staying at this place. I didn't even make it to my room and I had enough. read more

Stayed here in July 2008. Room was very small but well equipt. Staff wasn't friendly when we extended for another night. The jacuzzi water was smelling dirty. Overall the motel was ok to sleep in but not much more. Rate was kind to high. The town is quite interesting. Has tourist info, movie star memorablia, many restaurants around. Absolutely gross. When you look in the shower and it has A LOT of black mold with copious amounts of pink slime over painted tile, it is time to leave. Also, something powdery was leaking out of the base of the walls. Don't know what. A call is being made to the health department. read more

We had a wonderful experience here. We changed our route and drive by the town. And we found here to stay overnight. We got last one family suite available. The room was clean and tidy. The hot water and wifi was good. The lady front desk showed us the room and gave suggestions for trip. Of course it wasn't a luxury one with nice view, but it's good for your family or bunch of friends to stay together and enjoy walking in the town. Would be zero if it were an option. The absolute most unprofessional place I have ever encountered. We made a reservation three days in advance just to call and confirm the day of reservation because we hadn't heard back, that they over booked and didn't have a room for us. Then without our permission tried to book us at a reservation in a different town. We showed up to get answers and make sure we weren't charged without our consent for this other booking- to find out that the other place they booked without our consent wasn't even open for business. In no time I'm sure this place won't be open for business either. Slammed the door in our face and threatened to call the police when we said we will take them to court to fight any charges made on our card without our consent. Heard from every other hotel in town that this is to be expected here- wish we'd known sooner, go to hell avoid this place at all cost. Ok this a a 2 star motel at best. So that said I'll give it 4 stars for being a 2 star motel. Nothing fancy but kept me out of the cold and pretty much just slept there. Only 1 road in the town and it's at the end of it. Close to Zion & Brice canyon 30 minutes from each. Good price not to many complaints. We had two rooms reserved and he had clearly overbooked the hotel, so we had to share a room... we had few/no other options because it was a busy week in Kanab. Would give this place 0 stars if I could. Yes they had beds and a bathroom so we did get what we paid for. But this was the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed in EVER! and I stay in hotel rooms 75 nights a year for the past 10 years. Continental breakfast consisted of juice and instant coffee! The shower had mold growing under a non slip mat in the shower (which we had to clean prior to showering). The carpet was so dirty our kids soles of feet were black within 10 minutes of taking our shoes off. Crumbs on the floor against the base boards. Toothpaste spray on the mirror and wall next to bathroom sink. Sheets smelled and looked clean. Did an inspection for bed bugs but found none (did not check under mattress and box spring ). My son had bites on his bottom and stomach the next day but I didn't and I slept in the same bed. Beware of this motel. We arrived and was given a room ( that's about what it was ) a room. It was like a modular or trailer. Management told us there was room in back to park, but later after having pulled back there a man came out and told us we couldn't park there. Apparently it was a relative of the owner. Needless to say we went to get our money back because of the misguided information and horrible accommodations. Management was not happy and non compliant. Accused my family of having already been in the room and called us liars when we informed him that we had gone next door to eat since it was late and had not eaten yet. I found more than just my husband in bed with me. I woke up to find bed bugs in my bed and left with several bites. At first I was not sure but after killing the second bug and blood splattered all over my pillow I knew I had been a "human buffet" for the two hours I was in the bed. Luckily my son's bed did not have these invaders and got a whole three hours of sleep. When I notified hotel staff in the morning and asked for a refund on my room the manager refused to do so since he had already discounted the room for us since we were in town for a funeral but would not charge us for a second night since I was refusing to stay in the room. Poor customer service and the rooms are very dated; mattresses are horrible, no tubs for little ones to take a bath in and the shower head looked more like a sprinkler head then a shower head. read more
