It's a bit of a remote location (which I loved) but the lodge has everything you could possibly need - a really great on-site restaurant, general store, gas station, and they even do their own guided fishing trips and kayak rentals complete with backhaul drop offs to a launch point of your choice. And even though you're a bit of a captive audience, their prices are surprisingly pretty reasonable - even for the gas! The lodge is currently split into two sections - one has been recently renovated and one hasn't. I stayed in a double queen room in the renovated section and a single king room in the non-renovated section. Both rooms were spotlessly clean and very cozy - but I definitely prefer the renovated rooms - simply because they have a superior bathroom layout/shower - The shower in the non-renovated room was very rudimentary- almost like one you'd find in an RV - and there was very little counterspace. And the TVs include an option to log into your streaming apps to watch your fave shows. But the beds were both very comfortable in both rooms - the mattresses felt very supportive but not overly hard - seemed like temperpedic quality. The decor in the renovated rooms is very desert-cowboy-chic - but the non-renovated room was super retro - more like a 70s spaghetti western style lol. There are refrigerators and Keurig coffee makers in all the rooms - renovated and non-renovated alike. All the rooms have outside patio seating but it's not private. I was next to the restaurant in the non-renovated room and was worried it might be too loud but I didn't hear a thing - it was peaceful and quiet! Speaking of the restaurant- the food is absolutely fantastic! I ate two dinners here and a breakfast and loved it all. They also have a unique dessert - avocado pie! Highly recommend! Everything here is family owned and all the staff were friendly, welcoming, and very helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and fully intend to return bc there's SO much to explore in the area - especially if you love the desert outdoors!

By far the best aspect of the lodge was the guide we hired to help us fish Lees Ferry. His name was Shane and he was incredibly experienced. It was my first time fly fishing and he taught me to cast, mend, and set the hook. We caught more fish before noon than I did on my last fishing trip. Shane knew every spot to visit to get the trout biting. The food at the lodge was also incredible. I ate one of the best patty melts I've had and the breakfast burritos hit the spot before a fishing trip. I also can't give the sweet potato fries high enough praise. They had the perfect amount of crunch and salt I look for in a fry with that same sweet potato taste. If you stop in; try the avocado pie! The lodge is absolutely worth a visit. Stay a night, try out the restaurant, try to book Shane if you can, and fish until your arm gets tired!

Since our visit was during the off season, they unfortunately only had four types of cookies to choose from - apparently during the summer they have 16 different varieties! While we didn't have that amazing selection, the employee did tell us that they cookies in the tray were less than an hour from the oven! We ended up trying one of each (4 for $8.46): Chocolate Chip Cookie - This cookie has a golden brown ring around the edge and the bottom. It has a delicate crunch along the more well baked portions, but the interior remains soft and gooey. Especially the semisweet chocolate chips, which at only an hour after removal from heat, are still melty. The center of the cookie tastes under baked like raw flour with a somewhat granular and sandy texture. Chocolate Parfait - This is a tall cookie that doesn't seem to spread. It looks more like a small scone or biscuit to be honest. It's quite wan in color, so there's no particular baked crust. Instead, the entire thing is soft and tender, but it's not under baked like the chocolate chip cookie since it all tastes baked through. It's absolutely stuffed with large pieces of Belgian milk chocolate, and like the other cookie, the chocolate is still melted and gooey. Oatmeal Raisin - This cookie has the hardest bake with a darker golden brown bottom creating a great crunch. It's otherwise filled with oats and studded with plenty of sweet raisins. Snickerdoodle - This cookie is surprisingly yellow in color. It has the same chewy and tender texture throughout and tastes like a sugar cookie with cinnamon. I do have to say that all the cookies were super sweet. So sweet I had to drink an entire bottle of water afterwards. I drank more water after the cookies than a 5 miles hike the previous day. The staff is small -- by that I mean that the restaurant waitress also checked us in. She even let us do an early check-in. The wifi is actually really good. They gave us a password for the protected wifi which didn't work, but they have free, fast-speed non-password protected wifi. I'll be honest, the outside looks really terrible. But it's clear that right now, they're in the middle of some construction and are attempting to make some improvements. Walking inside, we were all much more comfortable as it looks like a regular low-budget hotel or motel. No bugs or anything like that, pretty normal. It's so conveniently located near the park and for anyone who is going to spend most of their time outside of their room and at the park anyway, this is a good bargain.

Amenities were also disappointing for a property charging a nightly resort fee. The hot tub jets were broken, the water wasn't warm, and it looked pretty dirty. The pools are not heated, so they were ice cold in April. Ironically, the hot tub appeared to finally start working the morning we checked out. Food options on site include the Driftwood Lounge, a breakfast deli, and the Rainbow Room for buffet and dinner (reservations required for dinner). The buffet was just okay -- next time I'd skip it and order an entrée instead. The hot & spicy wings at the lounge were decent.
