I have worked with Red Rock for several years doing annual maintenance and repair on a very unreliable unit purchased from another contractor over 15 years ago. They have also installed a mini heat pump. I love the service and feel as though they are always available to take my calls and have an appointment available within the week. These poor reviews baffle me, this is not my experience. I highly recommend Red Rock. read more

After repeated visits by Red Rock to repair our hot water heater were unsuccessful, I finally agreed to purchase a replacement. The units continually cycles, making a sound like a fog horn heard throughout the house. After repeated requests to service this problem, a representative finally came and told me some nonsense about needing a 20-gallon tank added. Repeated calls to resolve the issue were met with no response. They clearly put in the wrong or a defective unit and are avoiding responsibility. These people are both incompetent and deceptive. I will have no choice but to hire another plumber to repair or replace the unit and sue Red Rock to recover my original expense for purchasing the unit as well as the costs to repair or replace it. Red Rock does a lot of work in our condo development. I have seen their trucks here frequently and presumably people are reasonably well satisfied. I too used them in the past and was quite satisfied. So, . . . When needing further service, I called them. They responded and sent Tim who was helpful and seemed to adequately diagnose my requirements to solve our problem. He was going on vacation for two weeks and I agreed to wait until he returned. Then, inexplicably, all communications w/Red Rocks ceased. No calls were returned. No one showed up for a scheduled appointment. Total radio silence. Consumer relations 101: Answer clients when they call. I called at least five times in the past week, once speaking w/someone at a call answering service. Never, not once, did anyone return my call. I was trying to coordinate who was to get what materials. I am quite confident Max screens his calls. But, why not answer? So, read the comments of others, do you want to do significant business (furnace installation, etc) with a company that may or may not communicate with you during or after? Stay away!! They came in to fix heat tank problem, instead they created a new electrical problem for us where the heat turns on as soon as we go to take a shower. $1200.00 later... they are no we're to be found. Made an appointment but they never showed up. Dough or Max do not answer their phones or return calls. Completely unprofessional and unethical. read more

Red Rock rocks! We recently had a new home heating system installed by them on rather short notice and they delivered on time and at competitive cost. The job was a big one - removing a 30 year old cast iron boiler and replacing with a new Bosch Greenstar combi unit, eliminating the need for separate domestic hot water tank and supplying baseboard heat in one contained, high efficient unit (95% efficiency). While we haven't spend a cold season with it yet, they did an excellent job on new plumbing - which was a massive 5 zone - and completed as scheduled. read more

I have used Red Rock 4 times in the past few months. Two were difficult Plumming issues that were resolved. I had at least 3 other Plumming companies work on it. One just left and never came back. I also had a new boiler installed. I cannot say enough good things about this company. All of the staff that I have met are very profession and nice. I might say very tolerant of my many questions. Red Rock installed our heat pump system. First, they kept rescheduling. Then they called and told me they couldn't do it because the ground was frozen (this was in mid Feb). Well, turns out it wasn't. and MY WIFE AND I dug the required trench ourselves using shovels along our foundation that they claimed they couldn't do. I called them back to let them know we had done their job, and that they could come back and install the rest of the heat pump system. They eventually came back and installed the system. To say they did an unprofessional job is an understatement. The electrical was not properly done, and was left exposed on a finished wall inside my garage. My electrician was shocked by the shortcuts they took. I had also told them I was planning on finishing the rest of the garage later, and to consider that with placement of lines. They did no such thing, and now I have to add soffits and replace condensation lines, that could have been installed in such a way to avoid me having to do all this later. They left portions of the lines uncovered outside. I have called LITERALLY at least 10 times, asking them to add the covers. Of the times I get ahold of someone, they always say they will take care of it, and never do. I even spoke to the owner telling them this, and he said it would get done the next week. Obviously, it didn't. I would rate their service 0 stars if I could. read more

After giving Brock's a try and not being able to get them to keep an appointment, I decided to try Red Rock. They, just like Brock's, forgot to put my appointment in their system, so I was left waiting for a no-show. However the owner was very apologetic and offered me a discount on the next bill and sent me a picture of the appointment schedule to verify that I was now in the system. The guy that came for the HVAC was great, very informative and helpful. They also came out for a toilet issue and that tech was also helpful so I think they will be our go-to HVAC service. You don't have to wait forever to get an appointment which is great for HVAC situations. Not 5 stars because they did miss the first appointment, forgot about the discount on the 2nd appointment (resolved) and were supposed to get back to us about a water softener quote but have not heard back regarding that. But they will show up and do good work, so far so good. We didn't have any major issues or emergencies so we'll see how it goes when those arise but glad we've found them! read more

They are awful and lack any ethics. I have had them work on my Baxi a couple of times NEVER AGAIN. They came here to fix a leak 3 months ago. They replaced some parts over $300 said it was fixed but still leaking. Then They sent someone back again 6 weeks ago to see what part is needed. The same part a simple hose. Said they will order it. Now they remembered to send me a $99 Bill to find the problem I already pain for. I'm still waiting for them to fix the simple hose. Also when I was watching the worker for a minute troubleshoot the problem. I watched him drain about a gallon of warehouse Out of a radiator. It's a closed system . I called and asked them to bleed air out of the system. That never happened either. NEVER AGAIN. THEY ARE AWFUL. This is the first time I have ever posted a rewiew. This company is literally the worst business I have worked with in Vermont. The people are very nice--that is when you get a hold of anyone. 99% of the time, you will only get a voicemail. Getting a callback is next to impossible. They don't follow up when they say they will, you can't get a hold of them to schedule anything, and they almost never return messages. I suspect that they just decide there are certain jobs they don't want to do and rather than communicate that directly, they simply avoid phone calls. We had a few of our heat pumps break down due and despite it being almost winter, they wouldn't return our calls to help us replace the units. We must have left a dozen messages and even spoke with Max once, who said he'd get back to me. He never did. I have also heard that this company is unethical in other ways that I will not repeat on here. Suffice it to say, stay away. You will very likely be left hanging and utterly disappointed. read more

What a joke. The owner came to my house to look at replacing my hot water tank. He said I'd have a written estimate in a day. After emailing and calling them back Twice; I never received the estimate or a call back. Business must be too good to bother with small jobs? Don't go to homes if you don't want the job. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Doug and his team at Red Rock Mechanical! They have come to our rescue on more than one occasion with our A.C. and recently got us a new unit within days when ours failed us. Said I would get a $300 rebate after 4 phone calls to the office they said it was included. Very dishonest!

I am extremely disappointed with the ethics of this company. I made arrangements in early May to have my furnace and air conditioner unit replaced. The earliest they could come was June 28. I called the office on that date to verify the appointment. I spoke to the owner and was told they were running late on another job but would be here by 11. By 11:00 they had not showed up. I called the owner three times leaving messages with the answering service. My phone calls were not returned that day. The next day I called three times and did not receive a return call until I left a message that I was canceling my services with the company. The owner then returned my call within minutes. He stated that he was on vacation and blamed the lack of communication on his replacement. He then informed me that my furnace was on back order! I'm wondering why he didn't know this when I spoke with him the day it was supposed to be installed! I have since learned that my neighbor hired them to replace furnace and air conditioner. After a year, the AC is still having problems with water leaking down into the hall below. I do not recommend this company because they lack a few very important business practices: Trustworthiness, consideration and integrity. I believe this was a blessing in disguise's and that I dodged a bullet by not hiring them. I was proactive in finding someone to replace my furnace and AC before the real heat and humidity hit. I am now stuck in the heat of the summer weather with other companies booked and unavailable. read more

I have had some bad luck with a Baxi boiler system and thankfully came across Doug at Red Rock Mechanical. Doug has been very helpful not only diagnosing the problems, but has been fair, trustworthy, and accommodating. I have had a number of issues with heat and hot water over the past 18 months or so, and Doug has always been quick to respond. He's been easy to work with, and provides great service, despite the circumstances. I would highly recommend Doug and Red Rock Mechanical. read more
