Stanley Selig, the owner of Plumb Perfect sends you to places to shop for your fixtures and materials to get the best price, and then you find out it is so he can jack up the price and charge you 15% - 20% more. When you finally agree to a proposal, Stanley comes by to pick up the first check, then you hear nothing for weeks. The job starts with no warning 6 weeks after you give him the first check. Stanley Selig says he is "hands on" and the only time you see him is when he comes by for a check. 4 weeks into the job, when the shower tiling was almost finished he came by for another check. No other inspection of the job. The drain for the vanity was cut but not capped. No consideration was given to the fact that the washing machine shares the same wall. When I used the washing machine, the new vanity and the new floor were flooded. The leak created a water stain on the living room ceiling downstairs. When contacted it took 2 days for him to send someone to correct. In addition to texts saying it could not be their fault. The money he collected for the job, was completely mismanaged and he started harassing for more money. The brand new shower leaked and left more water stains on the ceiling below. When I contacted him, extremely upset, he texted "give me the money or no fix". When I responded that his was the most unprofessional company I had ever dealt with, Stanley's response was a text saying, "You are the most demanding nasty customer we have ever dealt with", he denied being aware of the shower design, and said "your bad vibes has made the shower leak". (His men who actually installed the shower, showed up half hour later and repaired the drain. They apologized profusely for the behavior of their boss. They obviously have pride in the work they do, even if their boss does not). Stanley took over the vanity top installation because he wanted more money. He sent 1 worker to install a 48" quartz top. My husband had to help with the install and thankfully was not hurt. The job that was supposed to take 3 weeks actually took 7 weeks and some of it had to be completed privately. Had a kitchen sink plumbing issue, that called for a quick response. And while engaged, I figured also ask Plumb Perfect (sic) to swap out a disposal. The cost charged for the replacement Disposal was more than fair. 5/8 Evolution Disposal and charged $269.00 Labor for what felt an hour was $270. But the work done to shore the under-sink plumbing was not even close. Quickly apparent that while the pvc was replaced (to replace the fit to the sink itself) , unfortunately, I still have a necessary lobster pot to catch the leaking water. My fault not to call immediately and request to have things squared. I just recently, though, had an upstairs bathroom sink that I was hoping to have cleared up. And so the opportunity to get back in touch with Stan and ask: "Hey. I have this plugged bathroom sink, can you lend a hand, and in the meantime perhaps take a look at the still compromised kitchen sink." Texts back and forth. Stan indicated he would send somebody by at no cost. And as quickly rescinded his offer. After I had indicated I was absolutely willing to pay what I felt a reasonable rate, all things considered. As others have stated, it's hard to know where to start because there is so much to say about why NOT to EVER use Stan / Plumb Perfect. We called Stan to do two things in two bathrooms in our condo - replace the flooring and replace the toiletS. Yes, he's a plumber supposedly, but he "had a guy" to do the flooring. One toilet leaked, we had to get another contractor to fix the floor that came up from the toilet leaking...on and on. However, what is most offensive about Stan is the intense, unwarranted, obnoxious, rude, and inaccurate texting that Stan engages in. It is out and out harassment. All we wanted was to get the job he was contracted to do done correctly. He has chastised us for using Bath Fitters to refit our tubs, gotten ruder than hell with us for hiring a licensed Rennai installer to replace our Rennai heater, and 4 years after the fact, keeps texting that we "screwed" him when we hired a licensed, recommended by the manufacturer, contractor to install a very expensive heating system in another home we owned. He goes into homes, looks around, and then butts into business that has nothing at all to do with him. He actually tried cajoling us into tearing out the brand newly installed Bath Fitter tubs so he could "do a more professional job." Yah, right! The final straw with him is that he is now texting that he is going to file a suit against us with the anti-defamation league over anti-semitism. We really and truly think that Stan Selig is mentally unstable and should not be allowed to hold himself out as a plumber. He lacks a license and is borderline insane. We have tried several times to settle our financial obligation to him, but he won't hear of discussing it. He never got the job finished correctly, so we proposed a lower price, given that, and rather than discuss what makes sense, he babbles on about topics that have nothing to do with the job. Absolutely horrible experience from start to finish, beginning this summer when they came to replace our hot water tank and berated us for not yet making the switch to natural gas (we did not money to do so until now). After Stans tirade we began the transition but the entire process was met with little to no communication, no timeline, damage to our home during removal of old tank & installation. I had a pipe burst in the middle of the night and this was the first number that came up on a google search. Stan came out to my house, didn't even kneel down to look at the burst pipe, stood around and shined a light at my boiler, but didn't actually touch or do anything. He then sat himself down at my dining room table, proceeded to insult my house, insult the cleanliness of my basement and insult my boiler/heating system and my intelligence at buying a house with this type of boiler. (he also told me about his online dating history -- which I did not ask for nor want -- would he have done that with a man?). He was unable to do the job due to his unfamiliarity with my heating system, gave me the number of a different plumber. I hired the other plumber to do the job, but Stan continued to call me repeatedly starting at 7 am. when I didn't answer, he sent progressively more aggressive text messages about intending to finish the job (that he didn't even start!) and that he deserved the job as he was there first. The messages were extremely unpleasant and unprofessional and I was forced to block his number. Found out upon further investigation that he isn't even licensed. Call someone else. read more

Stan has come to my rescue three times at two different houses. The first time he fixed a leaking pipe in the basement just in time before a real estate showing (and added a new shut off valve). He has helped with the new house twice and has also given me advice on how to fix a couple of other issues on my own. Stan was able to get 2 plumbers to my house within an hour for a nasty emergency situation. It was a doozy that required specialized tools they did not have, so they referred another plumber who was able to take care of the situation. Stan and his 2 employees were incredibly kind and professional. Stan called that eve to inquire if everything had been fixed. When I asked about a bill, he said he would not charge me because his men couldn't assist that day. I greatly appreciated that, and also his quick responsiveness, follow up, kindness and fairness. I had a leaking kitchen faucet and needed a replacement. Other plumbers were quoting me weeks and they were able to come in a couple days. Mike replaced the faucet SUPER fast despite having to cut my rusted-over old faucet out of the sink (no residual damage btw). We had an issue within a day or so that the faucet lost pressure. Both Mike and Stan came back to the house, quickly diagnosed the issue, and got my faucet back to working order. Will be calling them for all my future plumbing needs! read more

I selected this plumber based on positive yelp reviews for a repair for my tenant in VT. Let's start with what he did well; he installed a new faucet and discarded the old leaking one on very short notice. Well done, thank you! What was difficult for me was Stanley's attitude. He was downright offended and angry when I asked if I could select the new faucet that will be installed and lectured me on how he is experienced in designing kitchens for decades. All I wanted was to have a say in what design of faucet will be installed. He was insisting on using a particular brand and refused to install anything else. While I appreciate his experience, he never put the customer needs and wishes first in my dealings with him. In addition to this, the final invoice came in 50% over the original estimate provided by Stanley over the phone ($600 vs. $400). Stan and his Team have now helped me out twice with a rental property in Burlington. They are quick to respond and were out to help within 48 hours. When others take days, if they even call you back, Stan and team were in and out efficiently. Prices are very reasonable and the work has been satisfactory on a toilet replacement as well as replacing water heaters. Stan is a character and his experience lends to strong opinions but I thoroughly enjoyed having him out. He went the extra mile to check in to make sure the hot water was hot enough for the tenants the next day. He also made sure I was more knowledgeable about my home's plumbing while he was working. If you are considering hiring Stan, don't!! Seriously, find another plumber or just go without water. My rental property had a leak that was soaking the basement and my regular plumber was out of town. So I called Stan and one of his workers came out and spent an hour looking for the source of the leak. My tenant found it in minutes and pointed it out... it was painfully obvious. Then the tech left without doing anything. When I asked Stan why he refused to answer. Stan and the tech showed up the next day (tenant still without water at this point) and replaced the shutoff valve to the water line in the fridge. The tenant called and said that the leak was as bad as before. Stan came back the next day and patched a pin-hole in fridge waterline that he later told me was all dry-rotted. He just patched it. It takes 2-seconds to cut out the plastic line and splice in a new one... why would a plumber leave a rotten line in place AND not even tell me? It turns out that there was nothing wrong with the shut-off valve that he replaced. The "leaking valve" really was a valve that had water running down on top of it from the fridge waterline. When the tenant describe what was wet, it was obvious that it could not be the valve. So, I had the carpets cleaned as I did not want a moisture problem in the basement. Right after that my tenant calls and says that it is leaking again. So, I called someone else and they fixed it right away. But then I had to have the carpet clean yet again because Stan screwed up. When I talked to Stan about the fact that he was at the house 3 times to fix a very simple leak and that I had someone else come in he became made that I did not call him again. I would be an idiot to call him again. Then what followed was a series of texts and emails where he was insulting my manhood, was very condescending, rude and extremely unprofessional. It was like talking with a small child that was having a temper tantrum. He complained that it is really hard to find water leaks, which can be true but the basement ceiling is open, access to the valve and water lines is all exposed. Someone with almost no handyman skills could have dealt with this problem... but it is too complex for Stan. This is not me being a prick, this is what Stan told me. He did shotty if not highly incompetent work, was horrible to deal with, then tried to over bill me. When I questioned why he was charging me 1 hour labor for a plumber and 1 hour for a mechanic for a job that would take 15-min for one person with basic skills (ie. me) to do, he got upset. I told him that I would gladly pay the 1 hour for the plumber but he needs to justify the mechanic. He said someone had to go shut the main water line. WTF!!!! You turn a knob!!! He could do that. I am really sorry that my tenant had to go through all of that. He was great about it but for such a simple problem he was inconvenienced for days by having to turn the water off to the house and deal with the mess. Basically, Stan does a horrible job, wildly incompetent, unprofessional and child-like. Plus he openly tries to rip you off. Sometimes, it is just better to go without water until a real plumber can arrive then it is to call Stan and still not have water and more damage. read more

I had used this company a few years ago with good service! I bought a new washer to put into my kitchen because I am a senior and an amputee. Stan came went down to the basement to see if he could install the new washer! I heard him into my furnace! He comes upstairs and gets on his knees begging me to switch to gas! I said NO! He rambled on and on about switching! He never gave me an estimate on the job, he really never checked out what he was called for! All he was looking to do was fleecing me to have gas installed and then wanted me to return the new unit I bought and buy a scratched and dented unit from his "friend" at resale shop! I had to call to see when he was going to do the work! A few weeks later, oh Tuesday between 10-10:30, I sat and waited, 1:30:I called him, his story was I got called to Massachusetts to help his brother. The day before he came to make a list for the job! I then said I have changed my mind I want it on the inside wall! When he finally called me back on Tuesday after I called him, he said you changed where you wanted it, yup 3 feet! Well he said you never told me you wanted it changed! I emailed him with my disappointment, he is now harassing me and house shaming me! He is like a little child having a tantrum! His last email was sexual harassment! If I could leave zero stars I would. He was the most wildly unprofessional person I have ever dealt with. After trying to work with him on a small project for 7+ months I finally walked away and found someone else. He suggested I purchase fixture brands he previously said to stay away from, he then wanted to choose the fixtures for us instead of letting us choose them. (Are you kidding me??!!). He refused to work with certain bath/kitchen stores in the area as well as refusing to install certain fixture brands. At times he blocked my phone calls yet refused to correspond via email. When we did talk, his conversations were all over the place, he was constantly contradicting himself leaving us bewildered. He set a date to start the project but then when he never called to confirm the night before and I reached out to him, he said that the life of a "service" plumber means that he can't commit to any sort of specific work timeline. Meanwhile, the Better Business Bureau has an alert for his business indicating he does not have the necessary license from the Vermont Department of Public Safety. I think I dodged a bullet. My worst experience yet with any home service repairman. He was an hour late on the first day. I gave him (Stan) a window from 10-12pm and called him at 10:30am to double check we were on, he couldn't remember me, until I mentioned our road. He showed up at 1 (an hour late!). I had to go back to work and my father stayed behind to wait for Stan. They found the leak and he left to go get parts. This was probably no later than 1:45pm. My dad calls me at 2:30pm asking if I had heard from him. He calls me at 4pm to tell me he had an "emergency" call. Says he will be back the next day at 9:30am. Calls me at 9:15am (as I am on my way to my house from work) says he overslept, be there in an hour. 10:30am I try calling him and get a receptionist. I tell her to tell him forget it. He calls me a few minutes later apologizing, says he will fix the leak for free. I, mistakenly say ok. He claimed he was 12 minutes away. I told him I had to go back to work and leave my door open for him. After a few hours I feel the need to go home and check on our house. He had never been there. I lock up and he calls me at 3pm, asking how to get inside the house. Unreal!!! And not to mention he was extremely critical of our house. Pointing out flaws left and right to my dad. He continually badgered me with calls and text messages. Wanted a "thank you" for fixing the leak after I told him we were hiring someone else. This guy has no respect for time nor your property. Had our small master bath remodeled. A job that is going on it's 4th month of renovation, mainly because Stan rarely ever shows up to work. The contractor who Stan hired to help with this project has been fantastic, and has done about 98% of the entire remodel. The remaining 2% of the work, done by Stan, the contractor has had to go back and fix. Stan does not come prepared with the appropriate tools, does not measure accurately before cutting into the wall, and did not correctly caulk the sink to the wall. Again, the contractor has been fantastic and has fixed all of these issues, and I would definitely hire him again. I am so fed up with Stan's poor work ethic and craftsmanship. For the initial quote, he seemed like he knew what he was doing, and offered creative solutions, but in the process of working, he complains about how difficult the job is, even though he is rarely here working. Stan also has tried to tell us that because of unforeseen issues, such as another layer of vinyl under the floor needing to be removed, that he will have to charge us more for his work. This is unacceptable, and it is not the only instance where he has tried to nickel and dime us for more money. I would highly recommend using another bathroom remodel service, the finish product looks good, thanks to the hired contractor, but the lack of professionalism from Stan is far from worth the amount he is paid, especially for doing the least amount of work in a shoddy manner. read more

Own a home that we rent and had new tenants moving in, we needed to have new dishwasher installed, bathroom faucet replaced, and leak in basement fixed. Entire time that I dealt with Stan, I was never sure the job would get done right. Stan is a bit of a bully on the phone, he would cut me off when I was speaking, and he kept asking questions about the job though I answered them first time, so I wasn't sure if he understood or would do it right. Still, we were stuck. We agreed on day to do work, Stan was 2.5 hours late, I had to call to see where he was. When he came, he called and asked "Where did you get the dishwasher? It's a piece of crap." ( It was brand new and was recommended model). He installed it but scratched our newly refurnished wood floor in the process. With sink faucet, he called and said yet again "What's wrong with it?" I said it doesn't turn on easily and needs to have cartridge replaced which we bought and was there. He said "I don't think that will fix it" but when I asked what else could cause the problem he said he didn't know. I said change it anyway, he did, and that solved the problem. So, I found Stan difficult, I had to repeat things, he was late, he kept questioning my instructions; what ever happened to the customer is right? Stan charged us extra $22 to come over, he never mentioned this until he emailed the bill to us. I paid him, told him the experience was negative and I wouldn't hire him again, he emailed back and said I was a pain in the ass! How's that for professionalism? I hope the job he did at least came out okay, but his attitude needs serious help. read more

Like other reviews here, very similar experience of grossly unacceptable, unprofessional behavior. Lost house key, became mad when we said we were no longer comfortable with him doing the job given that clearly irresponsible behavior -- insisted it wasn't a big deal, and people lose things all the time. Tremendously misogynistic, completely rude and lied about what he supposedly had already done when confronted with his own action. At one point he told us he "wanted nothing to do with people like us" and told my spouse she was a "mean, unkind person" for not "letting him" complete the work despite losing the key that would admit him to the house to do it. After the fact, he sent us an unprompted text message saying that "life is always easier and better when [he] refuses to work with generation x and the new millennials" -- so if you were not born before the late 60's, you may be ineligible for his poor services, FYI. read more

Stan put a bathroom in my basement in 2008. Our house is now on the market and just had an inspection. He installed an upflush toilet for us and it was discovered during the inspection that he left the vent for the sewer venting into our utility room. We had no idea because it was hidden behind some pipes and we basically knew nothing about sewer vents. Now we have to rip out sheetrock to find another sewer vent to connect it to. What a disaster for us and what an epic fail as a plumber. I wish I had known more at the time so I could have made him come back and fix it, but my husband reminds me that he tried to get more money out of us at the end of the job and we had a verbal disagreement with him. So please look elsewhere for a plumber, or be sure you know what you're doing. read more

I had just moved to Burlington and was having some plumbing problems in the basement. I called Stan and upon arrival he informed me that he couldn't do the job as he didn't have the proper tools. He also told me that all the plumbing in my house was done wrong and that he would "write me up a quote" to fix it. He than called a friend who did have the tools to auger my line, and that friend told me that the line must be crushed somewhere so they would need to dig it up. They told me I had multiple problems and that I would need to have all my plumbing redone (which I was not told during the inspection). At the end of about 2 hours Stan and friend left me with plumbing that barely worked, and a bill for about $600. I was charged hourly for both men (even though Stan literally did nothing except call a friend and stand around). In less than a week the original problem was back, and I was recommended someone else (P and P Septic Services). P and P came in and augured the line, told me that I did not in fact need all new plumbing, and the two men spent about the same amount of time I did with Stan. I now have working plumbing, and they only charged me $150. If I could give Stan a negative score I would, it feels pretty crummy knowing that I got ripped off so bad. Avoid "Stan the Plumber" at all costs. read more
