The south lot is the best lot to park in but the incline going from the parking lot to the actual venue is pretty brutal. But I would walk a mile on that incline for this venue. read more

My Red Rocks experience goes back to June 2009 when I attended the David Byrne concert here. I had always wanted to go to Red Rocks and when I was aware that my favorite artist was coming, my wife and I built a Colorado vacation around the concert. The venue is like no other and anyone that likes live music should at some time come here. We arrived early to ensure we had a close parking spot and we could tour the on-site museum that showcases the history of the amphitheater and those that have played here over the decades. Well worth the time. The weather was cloudy and wet, but just before the local opening act- Devotchka took the stage the clouds parted, the rain stopped and the temperature increased considerably, just as the Rock Gods intended. The view is absolutely stunning with the giant monolithic rocks jutting awkwardly from the fairly steep mountainside with the stars and lights of Denver in the distant background. The perfect blend of man and nature. The show was epic. A perfectly choreographed ensemble of motion and rhythm. Getting to shout "This ain't No Party, This ain't No Disco"... with several thousand of your closest comrades on the side of a mountain is so damn life affirming! We quickly became friends with all of those around us and for a brief moment in time nothing outside of the venue mattered or even existed. I have never high-fived or been hugged by so many strangers in my life. Make sure that you check off Red Rocks from your bucket list while you can still easily navigate the steep incline. One of the best music venues that I have ever been to. I don't know why I have not gone sooner. We purchased tickets to see Pitbull at Red Rocks. I always pictured my first concert here to be a folk band, but I was not let down. We arrived halfway during the opener, and we were able to easily find parking in the farther lot. Although the lot is far, it is not a terrible walk, but beware there are quite a bit of stairs! The venue itself is amazing. The general admission area has long and wide surfaces so people can sit or stand as they please and you can easily shuffle across the aisles between people to get to your spot or find your friends. The music reverberates off of the red rock walls creating a natural acoustic venue. Concessions at this venue are not crazily overpriced. Drinks are about $10-15 and water is a little less. Bathrooms are easy to find and clean! read more

A lot to say, a lot more to see. This was a famed venue I've been hearing about since my high school live music DVD days. Incubus, Dave Matthews Band had the famous bills back then for me and now they're featured on Red Rocks' official Spotify playlist. I was fortunate enough to visit the the Rocks twice on our trip: once to scope out its natural hiking and scenic areas and a second actually attending a night concert. Both very different experiences and I'm sure there's ways in between to entertain outdoorsy visitors and locals alike. The open-seat benches are a workout to scale in itself but there are a handful of trails scattered about the premises that'd also do the trick. I'd say a good hour of cardio deserves the treat of the view uptop. Can't beat the crisp, cool air with an easy sun after a hike; would be better if you pack a recovery brunch! read more

The Red Rocks Amphitheater is a must see place if you are in Colorado. I have not yet had the pleasure of seeing + hearing a concert/performance here BUT, I can only imagine the sounds of the acoustics bouncing off the stone and it being a epic experience. During the day the amphitheater is filled with people exercising and hanging out, playing board games, eating lunch, etc-- also, the views are pretty spectacular. Depending on where you park, be aware, it is a little hike to the amphitheater (flat pavement walkway, just a bit of an incline). Beyond concerts and performances, they also have events like movie nights in the summertime. read more

Amazing place to see a concert on the middle of Colorado outside Denver. Unfortunately didn't get to see a concert in this visit but I will definitely get back there . The red rocks were formed from the weathering that decomposes the rock, releasing minerals such as iron, which oxidizes to give rock a reddish-pink color. There's a cool museum inside as well to see some of the most famous concerts of all time. The official grand opening took place on June 15, 1941. Because It's in the middle of the rocks and outside, the acoustics are fantastic. read more

By far, one of the most epic venues I have ever been too. It's been on my bucket list to see a concert at Red Rocks and I finally made it happen this past September and we saw Death Cab for Cutie! I was with a local resident and a friend from Seattle, both had been before so they knew the best parking and the best entrance to go into as there are several. Please be sure to do your research before you head to the venue. Also, bring food and drinks or do research on where to dine before you see a concert at Red Rocks. I was able to catch the show in the front few rows and then in the middle area. Both has its perks and the sound is incredible! Do yourself a favor and see a show here! read more

Always wanted to visit Red Rocks from how much I have heard about it and it did not disappoint. Not much food choices, but the food was good. We ordered corn dogs from Wylys Thin Air Fare and it was one of the largest corn dogs I've ever had and hit the spot. Beer selection was good also. The only thing I would recommend is get there early and try to leave a little early, as finding an Uber or ride out is difficult as you're not near the city. read more

ILLENIUM at The Red Rocks!! Wow. I can officially check this of my bucket list. What a beautiful venue surrounded by all natural beauty. This venue is hands down the best place to see concert. The sounds and everything about this place is fantastic. No matter where you sit and stand the view is phenomenal. My only down side is that we took an Lyft there without any problem. The cost was about $16 from downtown Denver. But leaving Red Rocks is a different story. The wait time for Lyft and Uber can be up to an hour or more. With that being said there is a taxi service. NOTE* These taxi service are of the clock, so the charge you whatever they want. We had one that try to charge us $75. But eventually we found one at $50. ( Cash only) Other than that we can't wait to come back here for another show. Love this place. read more

This was my first stop in my Colorado road trip. I had to see this famous place. I suggest you arrive before 1pm. If they have an event that night, they will close down the amphitheater to the public at a certain time. You can still hike the trails. The amphitheater is big. I wish I would have seen a live performance so I could appreciate it better. There's no shade, so be prepared. The trading post trail was an easy walk. It starts at the trading post and does a loop. You get to walk along the huge rocks and get to see wildlife. We saw a bunny as soon as we started. Make sure you fill up your water bottle at the trading post. Bathroom are available at the trading post too. We parked near the trail without issues. It was free to park and enter. Overall, I think we spent about 2.5 hours in the area. read more

I have lived in Colorado my entire life and am still in love with and in and awe of Red Rocks. It's been such a huge part of my life here - shows, sports practice, yoga, movies... you name it. One of the traditions my BF and I have is to visit this grandiose place for Reggae on the Rocks. Each time that special season rolls around, I am always so excited to take the trip down to Morrison to have an amazing time. Every visit has been an awesome experience, and one that I wish would never end! Not only are the music festivals good... or the one off concerts... oh no. The Yoga on the Rocks events, Film on the Rocks shows, general cardiovascular fitness via running those dang stairs in my teens, hiking nearby... there are so many things going on. Red Rocks always pleases. It is an absolutely gorgeous venue, an amazing place to see some fricken cool geology, and somewhere you can visit to feel like there is more to life than cities and cars and crowded spaces lol. Fun spot on the outskirts of Denver, Red Rocks Amphitheater is just on every music lover's bucket list. The only other REALLY cool naturally formed venues I've seen at this caliber are the Gorge in Washington and the Caverns in Tennessee, so finally seeing Red Rocks was a treat. Now if you are handicapped or if you are that "kid in every horror movie with asthma", you might have a tough time going up some nasty stairs in the North lot, but overall the walk up to the venue should be easy for anyone who likes masochistic cardio. Currently they require vaccine cards and/or tests as standard with most large venues at this time. I also arrived at night so I wasn't able to see the place in the daytime which I guess is even prettier to see the Denver skyline. The drive up surprisingly wasn't bad, and organization in this case for a Khruangbin show was solid. Exiting wasn't too annoying to deal with either as mud during rain doesn't really pile up too much like some venues that I've been to. Now for the venue: there's the main stage flanked by 2 large picturesque rocks that you'd find pretty much everywhere in Southern Utah, but here it was kind of cool with the ambiance of crowds of people standing/sitting and vibing. If it weren't for the icy cold temperatures and rain I probably would've enjoyed this event more LOL. There are concessions on both sides and the place is all paved with large places to put your blanket down for sitting. It's not as comfortable as the Gorge with its grassy hill but it's still a vibe to enjoy. Overall, it's still a cool amphitheater with pretty developed amenities and services. A nice place to visit while attending a show. read more

I've been to Red Rocks twice, but never for a concert. That's okay though because this place is AMAZING even without the live music. Visually stunning scenery all around that is a must-see if you're in the area. Take the time to climb the steps to get to the top of the amphitheater so that you can see the tiny Denver skyline in the distance. From there, you should see the Visitor Center and Red Rocks Hall of Fame. Plan for a couple hours if you're there for touring/sightseeing. Trust me, you NEED to see this place at least once in your lifetime. read more

What a great, FREE, tourist attraction! I would love to see a show there. The place is majestic, for shizzle. The cute, small indoor museum is a must-see if you love music. If you're from lower altitudes, as I am, be careful going to the bottom and trying to make your way back up. You'll feel like a smoker who has been smoking for 40 yrs. Yikes. Drinks lots of water! Start off at the top circle lot to check out the amphitheater - it's a quick walk from the parking lot. We took our obligatory tourist pictures while trying to stay clear of all the exercise enthusiasts running up, down and across the stairs. [ TIMES ] Visiting in the morning is better especially if there's a show the same day. On concert days the Amphitheatre usually closes to the public after lunch for sound checks, etc. Otherwise, Red Rocks Park is open to the public from one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset. Might be good to check the website in case of any other closures. [ HIKING ] Carve out a few hours if you want to do a bit of hiking. The Trading Post Trail is just under 1.5 miles. It's a bit nerve-racking hiking with kids but the views were pretty amazing and we spotted a few rabbits along the trail. We only did a portion of the trail since we were on a tight schedule sprinkling sightseeing around wedding festivities that weekend. There's another parking lot at the Trading Post. Just outside the store, you'll also see a picture-perfect overlook with the most amazing views. In fact, we even saw a few engagement and a family photo session while we were there. read more

I know this is an unpopular opinion but I really dislike Red Rocks as a venue. Red Rocks siphons some of the best acts to come to Denver far from the city center. I have to get in a car and drive 45min. Or pay 50$ for a bus and this is on top of their skyrocketing ticket prices. Or wait until 2am for a ride share with 500 other people.(true story) If you go to a show at Red Rocks. Dress like it's December. It's always at least 15degrees colder than the city center. It's frosty cold at night, even in mid summer. I was wearing down and insulated pants last time I went out. Fingers numb, shivering. Walking up and down stairs desperately trying to stay warm. And I hope you like climbing stairs. Even if you park in the higher lots, the seating area is stairs. You are gonna have to channel Rocky. Or get drunk and bust your ankles. Whatever you are into. It's the most consistently pro stairs venue(they do have ADA accommodations). Yes. It is one of the most beautiful outdoor venue in the country. I know. I know! And I love outdoor venues. I really do. I'm sure it was amazing in its hay day when people could camp but now I kind of wish it wasn't. And we could all just go to free concerts all summer in civic center park. But I wish a lot of things. People say how lucky we are to have Red Rocks. I don't feel lucky. And More and more it feels like Red Rocks is becoming venue for the privileged few. . In all seriousness, Why can't Red Rocks offer free shuttles? So people can get home safe, to cut down on emissions? To make it more accessible? It's the biggest thing that stops me from going to shows there. read more

This place has its great reputation for a reason. I didn't even see a show here, it's beautiful to take in on its own. Gorgeous natural formation in the Rocky Mountains with a concert hall built into its natural shape. There are lots of awe-inspiring walking trails you can spend hours on. There is also a great museum onsite displaying memorable of the famous acts it has hosted over the last hundred or so years. Definitely worth a visit in any form you choose, perhaps multiple to both see a band you like AND to go take in the views. read more

Overall, the venue is beautiful and well managed. Once we got to our seats, the experience was enjoyable, even though it rained for duration of the concert. The problem that we had was in finding the parking lots. It was dark by the time that we got to the area and there were no attendants or signs pointing to where we should go. Were any of the parking lots full? I don't know. Where are they? Beats me. We drove for 20 minutes around the area and saw one sign for a ticket office. That's it. Then we ended up on a road that led to a small town and turned around to backtrack. Finally, we reached four guys who were wearing safety vests, indicating that they worked at the venue. They were miserable - doing nothing- just standing in the rain. My wife stopped to speak to one of them and asked where the parking lots were and remarked that we had seen a few cars parked on the side of the road. The closest dude walked over said that sometimes people park on the side of the road to make it easier to get, ignoring her question about the location of any parking lots in the area. So, I said could you just tell us where the parking lots are, and he flipped out into an expletive-filled rant, acting as if I had insulted him. He said that he wasn't going to help us because we were rude. I may be direct, but I'm not rude. He worked at the venue, presumably to help people get to the parking lots, but my question was just too much for him and walked away. OK. Not helpful. My wife then saw an offshoot to the road and asked the general group of four if there was a parking lot up there. The jerk just shrugged and said that we could go up there if we wanted to, but he wasn't going to help us. On her own volition, she decided to drive up there to check, and we finally found a lot - I don't know which one, because there weren't any signs, but it was a parking lot. The attendants there were fine and they told us where to find the stairs. We got to our seats while the opener was playing. So, it worked out, but we shouldn't have had to deal with no directions and one real jackass. I would have second thoughts about ever going again. read more

Amazing venue! Came from out of state for a Porter Robinson show on Saturday. Bathrooms (and the venue in general) were clean. Staff are super friendly. The rocks are beautifulll!! Don't know of any other venue like it. The rocks even light up at night! I can totally see why people come here to exercise during the day. The stairs will definitely work your glutes! Wish I had more time to check out the trails. Lots of memorabilia/hall of fame displays, saw two gift shops. Multiple parking lots. What a nice venue to have at your access as a local. What a stoning stunning view! It was totally worth it to wake up so early in the morning to do the yoga on the rocks. This is definitely one of the yoga events on any yogis' to do bucket list. I will put this activity as one of the lifetime opportunities to try out if you are in Denver. I hope the following tips will help any 1st timer to this event. Yoga & View Nothing can compare to the experience of doing yoga with 2000 people at 7 am in the morning on a big pieces of rock and seeing the green valley in front of you. I took those pictures from my row (row 63) which is higher up toward the top. Yoga movement: It's very basic to low intermediate level. A lot of downward dog and warrior I, II, III poses. Scale is really intimate given the capacity. Lots of place to spread out for chaturanga, star, tree, and shavasana poses. I love the boat pose particularly, I can see the big red rock in front of and in the back of me when I rock back & forth. It's a very unique experience. Great acoustics: we could hear the instructor no problem. Listen to the Dead show from 7/8/78 on the way up to get into the mood. Yoga Mats: They didn't provide yoga mats, so you will have to bring your own. Tickets: It is $15 per person. I pre-paid online and scanned the tickets to get in. You can't buy tickets at door. Gate opens: I will also suggest go earlier before the starting time, the gate opens at 6 am. The yoga starts at 7 am. Arrived earlier will allow you time to put down your yoga mat and walk around. I took some Protein Bars, Electrolyte Water pills, CBD Sparkling Water...etc. Weather: It's very hot even at 7 am in the morning, so bring water for sure. The visitor center opens at 7 am, you can buy icy cold water there after the yoga. Parking: Parking is good. Plenty of parking spots at 6:30 am. Uber was $60 from the downtown Denver at 6:00am and $25 going back at 11: 00am. Bathroom: During yoga, the visitors center is closed but there are bathrooms in the round pillars on the left and right sides of the top platforms. Right hand side has less people Other tips: There are few nice hiking trails to check out if you have time. It's photogenic with great views. read more

We went here to watch the Music of John Williams. Colorado Symphony Orchestra was so COOL! The venue and music were awe-inspiring. John Williams wrote the soundtrack to my life. It's so amazing that venues are opening up again. My wife and I danced, hummed, and "conducted" throughout the concert. I can't wait until the next visit. read more

This place is gorgeous! Was visiting the area and the whole family (group of 8) decided to take a hike here. We found parking really easily in the morning by the trading post. Walked the Trading Post Trail, which was a short length of 1.4 miles that went all the way around the outcropping of (you guessed it) red rocks. I took many pictures along the way. After that we went up the steep slope to where the amphitheater was. Impressive! We weren't there for any particular event/concert/band, but it was clear this place draws a HUGE crowd judging from the number of rows of seats. We head up the stairs to explore the museum, which had neat information about the geological history as well as a record of every single band that's played in the location dating back to the early 1900s! It was also nice and cool inside, a welcome reprieve to the heat outside. There's a water fountain/bottle filling station inside too. Small gift shop inside the museum, as well as a bigger one down the hill at the trading post. Lots of fun shirts, hats, stickers, keychains, postcards, etc., plus snacks and drinks available there. read more

Not only do you get to enjoy the beautiful Colorado scenery and weather, the venue itself provides fantastic sound and ambience that is unmatched to anywhere else. And to be honest, it's more affordable than a lot of other places given the lineups! No matter where you sit/ stand here, the view is phenomenal. Before dark you can see put into the plains for so far and it's stunning. The rocks are beautiful and encase the venue on the sides and front bringing that Colorado beauty front and center. The audio is clear even for an outside venue and you'll feel the music through yourself from the ground up. Absolutely outstanding venue. Bonus - you can bring you're own unopened drinks in which will save you $$. The walk to the amphitheater can be a bit of a trek. Be prepared for leg day. But trust me when I say it's worth it. If you have the chance to see a show here, take it. Try to get on the upper parking also. Your legs will thank you! read more

What a beautiful space for a concert! I clearly didn't do my research beforehand, though. So, follow along if you're from the Midwest like me... -I wore walking shoes (tennis shoes) and that was a good call! Ladies, don't try to be cute and wear heels. You'll hate life. -I'm not in terrible shape but sure felt like I was when here. We were in the lower parking lot and had to climb up a pretty steep hill of paths and stairs. Wowza my lungs were burning! It didn't stop there - there were even more to get up to security. Then, I'd you are going down closer to the stage you'll go down a lot of stairs. -If you're attending a GA show, go early. We didn't realize how dumb we were tailgating beforehand. We should've gone in right when we got there (about 20 mins after gates opened). -As of September 2019, beers are $10/each, so prepare yourself for that. Lots of food options. -We didn't have a seat, couldn't really get even a ledge to sit on, so ended up hopping around the Amphitheatre trying to find a spot where we could see without having cigarette or weed smoke in our faces the whole time. (The outer edges are the smoking section.) -The screen is only on stage left, so go to stage right to get the best view of it all. -Traffic is pretty terrible getting out, so I'd you're a road rager save yourself some stress and just hang out at your car for awhile. Now that we know most of the tricks, I look forward to attending another show there in the future. P.S. Parking is included with the cost of your ticket, so no $20 cash only situation to mess with. AMAZING - we weren't interested in the current band lineup and had a short window to checkout Red Rock Amphitheater. We even went back twice due to the fact the Amphitheater was closed...(see below on why) PRO TIP: Whenever a band is playing, they will block the Amphitheater off to prepare for a concert, so make sure you check the schedule online or GO EARLY! There's a lot of trails nearby that gives you very nice views & def. recommend you take time to explore them. Additionally, they have a gift shop / museum that's FREE - very cool to see the history behind how it was built and how they've poured in millions into it. Parking is so easy w/no issues; they will have you covered! Walking up the steps of the Amphitheater was a slow process for us due to our weak FL lungs & trying to adjust to the altitude! read more
