Happy new year! Bluebird was hosting a party to ring in the new year, so I went here with a couple of friends. The tickets were a little pricey, so that's the only thing kind of iffy. Street parking all around or you can Uber/Lyft. They do have security to check IDs and bags. But once inside, it's free room! It was not that crowded for how many people were there and I still felt like there was enough elbow space. It did get very loud because we were right next to the speaker so definitely protect your ears and bring some earplugs. Overall the venue itself was really nice and I would definitely consider going back if the price is right. read more

It is my goal to visit every major concert venue in Colorado and I can confidently say Bluebird Theater is in contention for first place! So intimate, not a bad seat in the place (it's standing room GA but you get the idea). There are multiple tiers in the stands so try to get there early and get a spot against one of the tiers rails. The bottom section is touching the stage. I saw Bryce Vine here and he had many interactions with those in the first 2-3rows. So awesome can't recommend enough! read more

We came here to see a great local artist Atlus and were not disappointed! The venu is small and intimate. Anywhere you stand you have a great view of the stage! The sound was good and clear. There was no line to get in and easy process. It's standing only so no seats, we stood by the bars and leaned against them. They have 1 bar with 2 bartenders, they offer alot of drinks. We chose the watermelon, redbull margarita and it was pretty good but very expensive. There was no line at the bar as well. They only have 1 toilet for everyone, no men's or women's bathrooms just 1 toilet so try to go before they start or you will be waiting after the concert. Overall it was a great experience! We had so much fun and I got emotional listening to such a great artist. read more

Bluebird theater sort of reminds me a little bit of Winterland and the Fillmore in San Fran. A grand old building that has amazing vibes. These types of venues are a dying breed as I could give you a shopping list of great small concert halls that have closed over the last half century. Attending an event here, one must appreciate the intimacy of the venue. It's small (capacity is limited) but that makes for great sound and a great view no matter where you stand. And stand you must (exception for handicap area, which was limited to 6 spots). All tixs are GA so if you want to be at the stage, arrive at doors. Drinks are pricey ($20 for two bevvies), bathroom stalls slightly grungy, theater a but chilly but hey, the music was fantastically loud, the band uber energetic (Geoff Tate and his Rock Band Leksi) and the crowd 110% engaged. Security check in place (the folks af the door were fabulous and friendly) and bonus....no bag restrictions!!!! So ladies, celebrate, party on, and flip cartwheels if you must (just be ready to have that bag searched). The only downside for me....parking. The neighborhoods surrounding Bluebird are restricted to permit holders so best place was on St Paul and 17th (unless one gets lucky for a street spot on drag city central...oops I mean Colfax). For some, if you have senstive ears, bring ear plugs or ask at the bar for a pair. read more

Came here for a concert on a Saturday and it was a great time! Finding parking was kinda a pain as they only have one teeny tiny parking lot and I had to spend around 10 minutes finding street parking. Granted, it was a Saturday night in Denver, so it makes sense that it was busy. The ID check/security line going in was quick and smooth. There are bathrooms and a bar right when you walk in. Bar prices were pretty typical for music venues, so no surprises there. There are stairs going up to the upper balcony area as well as a main floor with different levels with railings so there really isn't a bad view. Seating was limited to a few stools behind one of the railings, but I didn't have a problem with standing. Sound and lighting were good! Overall, it's a cute and intimate venue and I would go back if I were seeing a concert in the Denver area again. read more

My first show at the Bluebird was everything that I could have asked for and more! As most know, parking is pretty nonexistent down colfax and really throughout Denver. Therefore, I suggest carpooling or hitching a ride through uber/lyft or someone you know. Merchandise is located right at the front when you walk in after getting through security and ID checks. The staff were awesome and welcoming! The bathroom situation was severely crammed with only two stalls and a tight squeeze, but ultimately did the job. There are two bars, one on the main floor and one upstairs. They have your average options, but no food or snacks. Capacity lands at about 500 people, which makes this one of the most intimate concert venues in Colorado. The concert was one of the coolest things I have experienced. I preferred the balcony seating up top because it offered a great view of the stage and an opportunity to sit on the ground if you don't want to stand. Plus, if you snag a spot in the front row you can lean up against the railing. The sound was perfect. The crowd was great! Lighting was on point and everything ran smoothly from start to finish. Seeing one of my favorite artists in such an intimate venue was so special and fun. Definitely a night I will never forget at the Bluebird. I can't wait to see more artists in this beautiful venue. read more

Really great venue, not stadium room so if you're short like me it can be hard to see. The building is cool, definitely not ada for any of my.handicalped friends it's hard to navigate to the bathrooms. Nice staff, perfectly dingy with some really cool ceiling and light figures. Saw one of my favorite bands and had.some.good drinks, will definitely be back for another show. read more

Forgot how much I love this intimate theatre. We came here Friday night for my first foray into synthwave, and saw Timecop83 & Josh Dally with The Bad Dreamers. Absolutely loved these performers, their styles, vibes, attitudes, and dynamics on stage, and of course their music. The last time I was here was growing up in CO, I think for the Goo Goo Dolls circa 2000/2001? And possibly an AFI concert here in high school? I could be wrong.... Cool venue in an area in denver with some cool bars around. Super easy to get in and has chill vibes. Went to see a Ron Pope concert and it wasn't too crowded so it wasn't bad to stand the whole time. Wish they had chairs in some areas because it is tiring to stand for hours. They have some railing you could lean against or you could sit on the concrete in some places. The lights and acoustics were good. The bartender was friendly and even told us about the new water filter/bottle filler thing they got so you could refill the water bottle you could buy at the bar. This is my favorite concert venue in Denver. I've been lucky enough to see a handful of shows, including a few bands that mean a lot to me. Contrary to the many venues along Colfax and in the greater Denver area, it's my personal belief that this is the best place to see a rock band perform. The picturesque marquee adds to the allure of Bluebird. It's quite magical seeing that brightly lit up sign. Onto the housekeeping side of things: security is efficient, scanning tickets is painless and the bar works quickly. It's never overcrowded at Bluebird. And more so than some of the other venues, it seems like fans respect the time of the artists performing. Rather than just going to a random concert as a general "thing to do" or "be seen." My favorite concert was the Russian Circles concert I saw back in September. Not only do I believe that they are one of the tightest heavy bands working today, but damn, the Bluebird made them sound extra special. Killer venue down E Colfax! read more

Probably my favorite venue for a show. It's a cozy theater and anywhere is a good place to see the stage. The sound quality was excellent and at least for Caroline Polachek and Oklou (left field pop, PC Music) the sound wasn't too loud. I didn't need earplugs and was close to the stage. The door people were also very nice. The crowd was also good for the most part. They were true fans instead of being there just to be seen or something to do. Only one small group I saw was getting too drunk and a bit messy when everyone else was intently listening but someone next to me spoke to them. I can't speak for the bar as I didn't order anything but everything was good. read more

Was great except for the ~60 year old security guy with the short beard that kept touching my friend at the end of the end of the show while ushering them to the exit, despite telling him repeatedly to keep his hands off. It was creepy and aggressive, and he kept saying he had a right to touch anyone in his venue?? It was super weird. Maybe a bad day for him but not cool to touch customers like that. I've seen two shows at Bluebird Theater. The first was a Vader and Internal Bleeding show in the summer of '17. More recently, I seen Islander and Nonpoint here. It seems like a lot of mid-sized metal shows play at Bluebird theater. The venue itself is pretty alright and drink prices are reasonable. For example, I paid $6.50 for a gin and ginger. Their air conditioning is now working so that's definitely a plus. There's a two-stall bathroom for women, but at least it's clean! Best theatre I have ever been to and it's entirely because of the staff. Right after entering, I rolled my ankle and thought I was going to have to go home. My boyfriend talked to a security guard and they sent Michelle to help us. She immediately rushed over with a chair and assessed the situation. She wrapped my ankle and asked me if I wanted to have a seat in the handicap section. I agreed and got to still see the show! If it wasn't for Michelle, I would've went home without ever seeing Jessie Murph. She is a true angel on earth and I will never forget her or her kindness. After the performance ended, she even checked in on me. thank you for hiring such a gem!!! I will be seeing more shows here and will definitely tell everyone I know how great staff is. read more

Gadzooks "Rise Up" saw and heard a nightingale here, Ms Andra Day. This venue is small and intimate and I was just feet away from her. The acoustics are good so when she belted our her tunes I was mesmerized by her voice. The openers were two young sisters Chloe & Halle and after their set they stood in front of me to hear the diva. They were so kind to pose with me for a photo. The crowd was kind and appreciative. A fun time was had by all present. I flew from Washington DC to attend and it was so worth the trip. read more

The Bluebird Theater is a great intimate venue for a concert. It's small and quaint and the sound quality is good. I love the Bluebird marquee outside, a wonderful old time vibe. I'm sure it has gone through some renovations, but keeping the gargoyles on the wall certainly helps preserve some history to the place. It is standing room only, with a few tiers, so make sure you wear comfortable shoes. Parking is a bit difficult, so give yourselves ample time to scour the streets for a spot. Also, make sure you have your ID. They will not let you in unless you can show proof of age to be 21+ (even if you clearly are 21+). We were running a half hour late, had difficulty finding a parking spot, and unfortunately I left my ID in the car, so had to do an about face a few blocks back to retrieve my ID. Just a note, they won't give you a glass of water, but instead tell you to buy a bottle instead. read more

I visited this venue on 2/4 for the Gracie Abrams venue. There were several issues with this venue. First let's start with parking. There is no parking lot, and residential signs all over. I did see one car get towed. Some people did ride share for this concert, but that was not an option for me. The stage is about 5-5.5 feet up off the ground. The staff kept yelling at teenagers to "Get your hands off the stage!" They also denied one teenager the ability to bring a sign in. One that they probably had put a lot of work into. The people were so packed in that people were standing on the stairs and in the walkways. The only people that kept going back and forth were managers and photographers - to many fans chagrin. Typically venues have dedicated spotlights. As far as I could tell tonight - there were none. For the opening act Alix Page and then for the main act Gracie Abrams. Then later, I had a very rude encounter with one of the staff as they lied to my face. For these many reasons, I cannot recommend this venue. read more

This venue's security check is a breeze to get through and the staff is friendly. It looks like an old performance theater, as the venue has tiered sections with railings. There's no seating, so get there early if you're shorter or you won't be able to see. The stage is elevated, but when people crowd in for the headliner, it may still be difficult to see. There's a balcony area too if that suits your fancy. The bar was well staffed and had a quick turn around time for drinks. The sound is great too, although the show I saw had a difficult time mixing the drums for the first few songs Downsides are it was a challenge to locate the men's restroom since the bathrooms are kind of hidden away. Give me more small theater shows!! This is where it is at in Denver. I typically get over long waits in line at the door, wristband sticking to arm hair, and metal detectors. All of those are now part of the experience. However, those never impact my experiences. I am all about sound, comfort, sightlines, drinks, and restrooms. Pretty much in that order. Sound is always dependent on the house or band front of house sound so that is typically always up in the air. Overall, pretty good sound from the front row balcony. Old man concert tip: Front row balcony is the place to be. I can dance, never have anyone in front of me, and have the best sound and sightlines for lights. Heaven at the Bluebird. If you are upstairs, the bar is only feet away with a supercool bartender, and bathrooms just steps away. Top notch Bluebird, top notch. read more

Concert was great. Staff not so much. Afterward while my wife was using the restroom I took 1 step outside holding her stuff so I could wait my turn, when she came out I handed her her stuff and friend going back in to use the restroom as well before we walked to our car. Some Karen standing right there who had seen me take 1 step outside the door yelled at me that there was no re-entry. I tried calmly telling her I just needed to use the restroom real quick. Her response "that's fine, there's a 7-11 down the street". I get policies, but that was ridiculous, as she saw me literally take 1 step outside and not move. I will think twice before going to another concert there due to the unreasonableness of the staff. They take their 1 but of power and lord it over you. read more

What a cool and intimate theater! It felt like a throwback in time, with such a down to earth vibe, and what an appropriate setting for my favorite artist of all time, Jess Glynne!! It's 400 capacity, and I've never had such good 'seats' (it's standing only - although there were some bar stools in the back and the balcony). You are so close to the artist, there's no need for a jumbotron. The sound system was great and pumping all night. We didn't experience any rudeness from the bartenders or the security, perhaps because all of us Glynners are a well-behaved, respectful crowd ;O) The drinks are not bad either, we got the Svedka specials for $6 each and they were healthy pours. There are no coat checks, but there are hooks and railings you could place your coats on. The reason it's not a 5-star review is because their ticketing system through AXS is horrendous. The website is not very informative as we found multiple different will call times online and hoped to look to their website for some guidance which was nonexistent. Called the theater only to be sucked into the automated system or busy tone. We ended going and waiting in line at 8 (that was the general consensus on the interweb), only to have will call ticket window open up at 9, when the show was suppose to start. We were freezing waiting in line for an hour. Ugh. Sure there are not pyrotechnics, but it you want to see your favorite artist in a close setting while feeling a little nostalgic, Bluebird is where it's at! read more

I saw Stars at Bluebird theater this past weekend and it was an awesome experience. The venue is pretty small but it's well ventilated. There is standing room only. We got spots right in front of the stage and it gave a intimate vibe to the show. The place filled up pretty quickly but it never felt overcrowded. The acoustics were great and this was probably one of my favorite shows I've been to. Note - water is $2 and they do not give out free cups of water at the bar. read more

Small and intimate. I just went to my first concert in the area, Son Lux, on 22May18. I dug the venue. Entry was not a hassle. You need your ID & ticket. That's it. You then pass through a metal detector which I am not opposed to especially, when crazy shit keeps happening at concert venues. Denver Police also had a presence. Definitely makes you feel safer. Upon entrance, you face the merch counter which can get congested when lots of people are making purchases. Pass to the right or left or go up the stairs on the left to the upper level and you're in. It was a general admin concert. The ground level is tiered which helps with being able to view the stage which isn't lifted too high. I tried the upstairs area which was comfortable w a more distant but full view. There's a bar on both levels. They have good prices. I believe I paid $7 for a Tullamore Dew rocks. The bathroom lines can get long but at least they were clean and had toilet paper, soap, and paper towels. Parking can be an issue. I parked across the street at the cleaners. They have signs stating what times you can park there for Bluebird so you know you won't get towed, but the spots are limited. read more

Don't ask me why, but it took me almost 13 years of living in Denver to make it to a show at the Bluebird. Too bad for me because I've really been missing out on a great little live music venue! The Bluebird is a cozy room with a historic feel. The floor is thoughtfully tiered so most folks will have a good view and there are lots of railings for you to lean on and/or rest your belongings. Bars with fairly reasonable drink prices and clean bathrooms are located on both levels. If you make it in early, you might want to grab a seat at one of the tables on the balcony. But what matters most to me about a music venue - and is the reason why it won't take me another 13 years to come back here - is the sound. It's fantastic! The Deerhunter concert we saw was loud (the band is known for its "ambient noise rock" music) and contained some intentional distorted feedback loops. The sound could have easily been garbled and muddy but it wasn't. Amazing! The Bluebird is an integral part of the City Park neighborhood. In fact, it's the epicenter of the Bluebird District, self-described as "an eclectic business and entertainment district at the center of historic Colfax Avenue where edgy meets entrepreneurial and independent meets community." So whether you live in the neighborhood or are visiting from somewhere else, don't wait (like I did) to see a performance at the Bluebird. read more
