The server seated us and was very attentive to our needs. From the bottomless coffee to the follow-up order for one of those homemade biscuits, our server made us feel like we were her only customer! We loved this! Our family ordered the eggs, bacon and toast, as well as a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich, the granola parfait with berries, and the kid-sized omelette with a side of sausage patties. The portions were large and no one was left wanting for more food. We had to try the biscuit, so we sampled parts of it but ended up getting most of it "to go." The flavor reminded me of the biscuits my mom used to make when I was a kid. Delicious! We highly recommend this restaurant and know you will find a little bit of something for everyone here. We found a local place called Breakfastime. Really cute place that is family friendly and seems to be very popular. Full menu and servings are large. My son got pancakes, my wife got a two egg breakfast and I got blueberry French toast. The staff is extremely friendly. The lady we had went way above the call of duty in service and was so friendly with southern charm. Give this place a try, if there is a line don't worry it is worth the wait.

This week was different- I ordered the special for the night, a tasty fish dish. I am on a keto diet. The fish came topped with slaw. I was supposed to order " a carb" so I asked for more green beans. They said I already had a vegetable ( slaw). And that I couldn't have green beans. I love their green beans. But that was that - the waiter remained firm. So my plate came looking a little bare ( white fish fillet with slaw on top). I had not had that happen before. It annoyed me!

We still had a twenty-minute drive to the lodge when we reached the North gate. The drive was pretty, though, and passed quickly. The circular driveway in front of the lodge was clogged with cars, forcing us to park down the road a bit. No one was around to welcome us, and finding someone took us a bit. Once we did, the valets quickly took care of us, and we were checked in. Our room on the second floor overlooked the 18th green and a valley on the backside of the lodge. It was terrific: large and spacious, with lots of wood and chunky lodge-style furnishings. The bathroom was huge, with a large tub, separate shower, and his-and-hers sinks. The minibar came stocked with complimentary non-alcoholic drinks and some snacks. While staying here, we enjoyed their astronomy presentation at the top of the silo, walking on several trails through the nearby woods, time in the spa, and making smores out back by the fire pit in the evening with the other guests. There was a special cocktail hour with apps and drinks, and a chance to talk to some of the local providers of food and items to the hotel. They do an excellent job of using local sources for the lodge. Dining was top notch, except at the Stables family-style restaurant. The Stables was a disappointment. Our other meals though in the lodge were top notch. The staff at Primland is the best, and they are what make this place so special. Come visit in the summer and enjoy the cooler temperatures of the mountains.

I have lived in Blacksburg my whole life and ODB has been a go-to bakery for most locals for a while. Serving a variety of pastries, cakes, breads, and offering lunch, brunch, and dinners. They have a lovely variety of options for customers to enjoy. The bakery primarily serves French pastries and caters to French cuisine at their meals. Although they offer more than just French inspired food. In the past, my family and I have enjoyed grabbing their cakes for celebrations and individual pastries from their pastries case. But recently, they have not been up to par and have left us very unsatisfied. The cakes have been dry and do not taste fresh at all. On my latest visit I tried a couple of things, all of which were cold, with dry, crumbly textures. It was evident to me that these pastries were not made day-of and had clearly sat in a fridge for at least one night (if not more). I found this to be extremely disappointing as ODB used to have a reputation of serving FRESH baked goods and pastries. I cannot attest for the hot food they serve during meal times, but the pastries and cakes have gone down hill. Over the winter break, I had their NY cheesecake bar (which I've gotten in the past and it was phenomenal) and it fell so short of what I remembered. It was lacking flavor and the crust at the bottom was dry. This past visit, I tried a Napoleon (also have had this before and really enjoyed it), a specialty cake, a scone, and a couple macarons and macaroons. The Napoleon was so cold and the puff pastry was super stale, it practically fell apart the second I tried to eat it. The specialty individual cake slice was also very cold and the cake wasn't moist at all. Again, indicating it was not fresh or made day-of. The scone was also a disappointment as it was dry and lacked any moisture. I thought the macrons and macaroons were fine though. While most of this was disappointing, the price didn't help either. Nothing was inexpensive and the quality was completely missing. So disappointing to leave this review as I used to enjoy coming here for sweet treats. It's sad to see that ODB is unfortunately not what it used to be. I will note that the service is very friendly and they do their best dealing with customers. Could have been more efficient, but I did go during a busier time. I hope they can turn things around, but until then I do not think I will be retuning soon.
