I wanted to come back and update my review now that we've picked up our finished pieces. We're…read moreseriously so happy with how everything turned out! The full process took about 3 weeks total. Our pottery class was on March 29th, we came back to paint on April 12th, and then picked everything up on April 17th. It honestly felt like such a fun extended experience getting to come back and see everything through. The painting portion was super enjoyable too. They offer a variety of glazes, some classic colors included at no extra cost, plus a few specialty options for a small fee. My fiancé chose the "Safari" glaze (just $1 extra), which had these cool glass pieces that melt in the kiln and create such a unique pattern. Definitely worth trying if you want something a little different! Pickup was easy overall. My only small suggestion would be to clarify the pickup hours on the card that's handed out after painting. Google hours seem to reflect member hours, while the hours posted on the door are different. When I arrived, they technically weren't open yet (my mistake, I'm sorry!), but the person at the front desk was super kind and still helped me find my pieces, which I greatly appreciated. Overall, such a great experience from start to finish. Thank you so much Creative Hands Studio, we'll definitely be back!

I do wish there was a specific color in the smaller tip bottle for better line work. They were sweet and let us finish our work after the pottery painting open time was coming to a close. It was pretty pricy though. My total was $51.45 after tax & tip for a charger plate. They give you a card for when pick up is ready 1 week after. I confirmed we will be back in 1 week to pick up. This is quite far from where I live in Lake Stevens so it's a bit of a drive. I met my friend in Monroe and drove from there to go pick up our pottery - making it a fun girls day! We were SO excited. Upon picking up, she got hers fine but apparently mine had a chip in it and the lady was kind enough to fix it. But, with that said I had to wait even longer to pick up since she put it back in the kiln. She took my cell number and said she would text me when it is ready for pick up. Very frustrating as we drove ALL the way out there to pick up our pieces. And now I had to make ANOTHER trip out there to pick up. A waste of gas. They need to have a better communication service for when your piece is in the kiln vs. ready for pick up. This is not a system at all and I can see it could frustrate a lot of people in the future. I hope they fix this.

His studio is so cool; its filled with his original sculptures which are absolutely mind blowing!! They are beautiful and creative which made me wish I could take classes there on a routine basis. I took a wheel throwing class with him and absolutely loved it!! I was having problems centering and with a few tweaks he totally changed how I approached the clay. His methodology is easier for me to grasp and retain. I think he would be an awesome instructor for any type of hand building, sculpture or wheel throwing! The studio had a creative and welcoming vibe which made me want to return!

I've been glazing ceramics and doing some handbuilding since I was a kid, but always wanted to learn the wheel. I took one wheel class, had a blast and decided to sign up for an 8-week class- and then another. Dirk is an outstanding, patient teacher and a fun, upbeat guy. I learned so many new things from him and the other students, who had different skill sets at all levels. The studio is such a welcoming environment, I really looked forward to class as my outlet each week. If it were possible I would still be taking these classes, but I moved to Pittsburgh. With Dirk's teaching and advice I was able to set up a mini studio at home where I'm still handbuilding, throwing and glazing. But I still miss the great teaching and company at Dahl Arts. Take a class here- you won't regret it!

I'm now obsessed and have painted every day since I joined, with three finished paintings that I'm really happy with. Dave, the owner, is so warm, welcoming, knowledgable, and supportive--he'll leave you alone if you want to just do your own thing, or he'll chat with you about your art if you want feedback. The space is set up incredibly well, ready for any kind of visual art you might want to do. The classes are fantastic too. I'm so happy that Dabble exists!

They have TONS of professional tools!! Including silk press, vinyl cut, a station to assemble prints/zines etc, a station with a hood to do spray paints!! Looked like they had all kinds of paint brushes one might try, LOTs of professional sinks in their clean up area, even a fridge, small lockers, cubbies and a microwave if you need to put in an extra long session. All set up in the most organized and functional fashion, it's SO COOL!! They also offer classes to learn new techniques! The studio rate looks to be $10 an hour for individuals and $20 for a family unit, ( it's gotta be Guardians and kids who live under the same roof, it's not necessarily a group rate) I was shocked to see so much cool stuff at once so this list isn't complete and I've yet to get everyone together for a visit, but upon first glance this looks like an incredible community asset!!

Our family has been involved with Tessera for six years now, and during that time it has been a…read morecornerstone for our life in so many ways. We tried five different preschools before discovering the magic of this place. I'll always be grateful for the memories and foundation Tessera has given our children and for the connections we've made with other families through this preschool. When you enter Tessera, you might just see a typical preschool--DON'T BE FOOLED! ;-) Tessera is anything but typical! If you look more carefully, you'll notice the culture of the school is present in every nook and cranny of the place. The owner, Linda, provides an enriching environment with specially curated art projects, decor, sensory materials, books, costumes, puzzles, and toys that usually follow a theme. The kids have freedom to explore. She allows ample activity time during the day as well, so more active children can run around, climb, and play more physical games to their liking. I am in love with the process-oriented focus of the art projects she makes available to the kids. You won't find the kids producing uniform preschool art. The art that comes out of this place is meant to strengthen and develop a child's confidence and enjoyment in the process of creation. What does that look like? It completely varies according to the child! The enrichment programs Linda offers have varied over the years including music, dance, sewing, ceramics, ASL, and nature programs. They are run by visitors who are professionals in their fields. My kids have enjoyed all of them immensely. Linda's background is in early childhood development and education, but she's also a parent, so she understands the realities of family life and has a great perspective. She is flexible to the needs of a family. I believe her greatest strengths are her intuitive ability to tune in with the kids, her kind and gentleness in her interactions with them, and her belief in their natural abilities. She is not an adult who gets in the way of a child. She is, however, a great coach to the kids when conflict arises. I knew Tessera was the right place for us when I saw how she addressed conflict. She does not punish (no time-outs, no withdrawal of privileges, no unkind voices or words), but rather has the kids talk to each other. She usually focuses on the child who is upset or hurt, asking them to tell the other child how they feel or helping them stand up for her/himself. She never forces "sorry" out of the other child, but instead focuses on cultivating their empathy. When that fails, because at a certain age and for certain kids it is unrealistic to expect certain behavior, she is particularly adept in anticipating situations before they arise. I could go on and on about how enriching Tessera has been for our lives. I look forward to many more years of my kids' involvement with Tessera. (I'm so happy she offers programs serving kids up to age 10!)
