Love, love, love this shop! I've been to many yarn stores all over the country and this is still my all time favorite. The people that work here are friendly, helpful and very welcoming. I'm not a knitter but I bought a knitting loom last autumn and tried my hand at making some scarves. Not only did they turn out beautifully and were simple to make, but in the process I became a little obsessed with making more and more. However, I also am not a fan of scratchy yarn so I looked everywhere for soft, natural fibers. This yarn shop has some beautiful yarn. I wish they had baby alpaca though. But still, what I did find was gorgeous. Their natural fibers are on the back wall, I paid about $28 for two skeins that made a respectably long scarf. The clerk (who I think was also the owner) helped me figure out how much yarn I needed. The yarn was a very soft wool and acrylic. Next fall, if I'm still gung-ho on knitting scarves I'll be back. read more

They have a good variety of high quality yarns, and the ladies working here are always welcoming and helpful. They are happy to answer any questions you have for knitting and crocheting. For her birthday, my daughter requested a trip to a nice, upscale yarn shop. I was pleased to find All Wound Up very nearby. We had read the good reviews and let me tell you, they don't lie! We were at their shop for roughly five hours, I kid you not. Leslie, the owner, was very nice. We had pleasant conversation, laughs, and she shared a lot of knowledge and ideas. There is a beautiful selection of luscious high quality yarns, many of which are local and hand dyed. They offer classes and knitting socials. The shop is warm and inviting but also well lit and spacious. Really nice shop that is a tad off the beaten path. This is a newer shop with a very nice selection of yarns and supplies with an emphasis on local sources. Nona was there to help us and could share where yarns were spun and dyed as well as her own favorites. I wound up buying a couple skeins and two patterns that Nona had created herself. The shop will print your patterns AND make sure they are put in your Ravelry library which was super helpful. We arrived just before closing and I noticed a couple of ladies who came in AFTER closing. Nona didn't bat an eyelash and was taking care of those ladies as we left. The shop hosts lots of classes and socials and is set up to support groups in a very cozy setting. I just wish they were closer, but we WILL be back. read more

At first I was very pleased with this yarn shop. It's in my neighborhood and the staff is generally pleasant and eager to assist. However, their return policy or rather their exchange policy is very restrictive. I took a skein of yarn in to exchange yesterday and was told no because it was 'light'. I was accused of trying to return a skein I had partially used. When I insisted that they had sold me the 'light' skein, they refused to take it back because they would have to 'throw it in the trash'. So, if I get this right, they can sell a light skein with no problem but I can't return it. How is that my fault? I will not be back. read more

LOVE having this lovely, warm and welcoming yarn shop in my neighborhood. Amazing selection of gorgeous yarn and all the tools you need. Leslie has been teaching me to knit since January, and as I've moved on to more complex projects, I'm able to just pop in and she helps me get back on track when I mess up or get stuck. If she's not there, any of the other women are able to help as well. This really is as good as it gets as far as yarn shops. They carry both all-purpose, affordable merino yarns and the really cool fashion forward stuff. They stock indie spinners like NanoStitch Lab (a local, indie Seattle brand!) along with well-known cool brands like Wool and the Gang and Malabrigo. It's way too easy to drop bank here. There are lots of affordable classes on popular fiber techniques, and the owners are super invested in their customers' success. I just can't say enough about this place. read more

I love the service at this shop. I have taken a couple of classes here and both Leslie and Nona are excellent instructors. I have taken many classes in my lifetime and I have to say these ladies are the most organized and delivered the best instructions hands down! Best part is when you take a class you also have access to instructions via a special YouTube channel for reference. The shop is well stocked and staff is friendly and helpful. They make you feel welcome no matter the skill level. Parking is plentiful and shop is located in a quiet residential neighborhood. I found them searching via Yelp; glad I made a special trip there. Fantastic selection, but the woman that owns it isn't genuine at all. I feel like her smiles never reach her eyes, and everything she says is fake. I get up here occasionally because their selection seems worth it after a while, but I never leave with a good feeling and I always leave asking myself "why am I buying yarn from a place that so clearly doesn't want me buying yarn from them?" This lovely yarn shop is worth a drive from most anywhere in the Seattle area. I was blown away by the selection and wonderful organization of high quality and luscious yarns. Even though I was only contemplating a small 2-skein project, I received excellent assistance from (I believe) one of the owners (Leslie?). She helped by showing me examples of the yarns in completed projects, and even gave me some tips on adjusting my needle size to get a little more spring from the yarn I chose. During my visit, a number of knitters arrived for a "knitting social" - it sounded like a fun group. I look forward to my next project and next visit to this great shop. read more

Great yarn shop, lovely local yarns. I found a sock yarn that is a blend of merino and silk, so pretty and soft. They stock other locally made yarns which is what I look for, the unique and different. The ladies in the shop were very helpful and let me browse for a long time, undisturbed. They have some books and lots of displays of the yarns knitted so you can see how the yarns knit up. They have open knitting times during the weeks and for the company alone, I will go there again. read more

The owners Nona and Leslie are so wonderful. They have great knowledge for the art of yarn knitters, crocheters and I'm sure much more. After the local yarn shop, Spin a Yarn closed, my knitting group and I were at a loss as to where to shop for yarn. So, we traveled to neighboring cities to shop and met at the Walnut Coffee cafe, we love and appreciate you, for our weekly meet ups. Now we meet up at the All Wound Up yarn shop. I love the mother and daughter vibe at this yarn shop. Leslie and Nona are always there to greet you, as if they are welcoming you into their home, but never overbearing or pushy. Great yarn selections from well-known companies to not-so-much, like some beautiful yarn from Hawaii. We visited All Wound Up and all enjoyed our visit very much. They have a very nice selection of unique and high end yarns as well as some moderately priced selections. Displays of finished products are plentiful. Owner very helpful and friendly, explaining in knowledgeable detail how to put beads into a knitted project. I went in not intending to buy yarn but couldn't resist a beautiful worsted, shimmery yarn not seen in other shops. I will go back, really liked it. read more
