I liked this place. Lots of reasonable art supplies and live demonstrations in the back. I will be taking classes here.

They also have great holiday decor for every "holiday" from beach season to Thanksgiving, Fourth of July to Christmas. They have you covered. Need Halloween ornaments? This is your place. Great for last minute gift buying. Great for a "pick me up" for a sick friend (or yourself). Their paper napkin selection is amazing. And they have a lot of great soaps, scarves, wallets, and other stuff you do not need. Now about that customer service... it's hit or miss. Sometimes I walk in are they are super friendly. Other times, the woman behind the counter doesn't acknowledge me. What's the expression? Every one of us is carrying some burden? That said, I've never had anyone be outright rude to me.

We bought two things that were almost identica, so when I went back in to return it less than 24 hours later they would not refund me my money that they only offered store credit. I was just visiting this area for the week and am too far away to shop here again to just casually chop. So them refunding me was really the only way I'd really be receiving my money Back. At the time of purchase they did not say items could not be returned, and if they were returned they would only be given store credit. This is something most businesses do if they have this policy. They pointed to a small sign on the table. I told them in the future it might be nice to have a bigger sign that isn't so easily over looked or tell customers when they purchase something that any items they purchase can not be returned. they said they don't make exceptions on this rule that they are a small business. I'm tempted to dispute this with my credit card company but am going to cut my loses. I handed the gift card to someone I met on the street a couple blocks down in hopes they can get some use out of it, since I won't be.

I had a disappointing experience at this Hobby Lobby location…read more I approached an employee who appeared to be a manager after hearing a "Code 7" call and seeing her quickly come over to the party decorations section where she was organizing merchandise. I politely said, "Excuse me, ma'am, could I ask for help with something?" Before I could even finish my question, she completely ignored me. She didn't look at me, turn toward me, or acknowledge that I was speaking to her. After waiting a few seconds, I felt awkward and said, "Oh, never mind," and started to walk away. That's when she responded with, "I'm waiting," in a tone that came across as rude and impatient. I then asked whether they had a specific item in stock. She told me no and said she had supposedly placed an order that morning and was waiting for it to arrive, but it never came. The explanation was unclear and not very helpful. What made the experience worse was the overall atmosphere. Several employees seemed unfriendly, and I felt like I was being looked at rudely while shopping. Additionally, there appeared to be numerous employees standing around the checkout area, yet very few were actively helping customers or processing purchases, which was frustrating to see. Customer service can make a huge difference in a shopping experience, and unfortunately, this visit left me feeling unwelcome and dismissed. Just to be kind, i got my $5 worth of stickers and wil be spending $50+ at michael's instead.

About…read more70% of the store is dedicated to decor, things along the lines of "live laugh love" which ends up really masking the reason I am sure 90% of people go there, which is for supplies. The layout of this store is not intuitive. There were cricut items in 3 different aisles that weren't even near each other. No rhyme or reason. With a store this size, they really need to adopt the Home Depot model where you can look up an item and it tells you what aisle to look in. I was trying to make a craft that I had found on tiktok and I could not find most of what I needed. Spent an hour looking to just get 3 of the 12 things I needed. They were out of weird things too, like all of their scrapbook paper that looks like wood/flooring was gone. And they didn't have green paper. They had a spot for dollhouse mirrors but none available. They seemed to be out of stock of most things, other than the cheesy decor. The prices are great, but the customer service, ease of finding things, selection, and availability keep me dreading a trip there.

Wow.... I've been going to Alexanders Bead Bazaar for years and was really surprised at the…read morenegative comments. I wish we had an Alexanders on the South End and I really dreamed about the store when I lived back East for 3 years! I could not find any stores with decent prices. Trust me when I tell you that Alexanders is heads above their competition - and not just in the NW. When I lived in Seattle ABB used to be the place I wanted to shop more than any other store, and have recommended it to at least a dozen beaders. Even when I taught classes at a different store. They beat out Bead World which is too expensive and predictable in their bead selections. Glad some of y'all have deeper pockets than I do to shop at BW. If you have a business license you want to get signed up to save moreat ABB where you have to have a minimum sale of $20 to qualify for the discount, which is easy to do. ABB's goal is to find moderate priced items for the Scottish souls, which I admire. Even their rough gem strands for $3 that I put into some of my more eclectic work. They have a lovely selection of $3 pearl strands too. Occasionally markdowns on $1 strands that I scarfed up and wish I'd bought more. And I l-o-v-e the 25 cent charms. Such fun! I over-do those every time. But once I overbought something and they kindly reimbursed me. No hassles, and no telling me it had to be store credit, which would be okay too. (unless the customer was POd) As for staff - I have enjoyed talking to the owners over the years, Sam is passionate about being able to give a good deal for those of us who are thrifty beaders, but they also have the high-end gems on strings that I enjoy just gazing at and dreaming of what I could make. You know that 'zen' state you go into while gazing at beads? And I actually broke down and bought a couple of the pricey ones at different times. They also put half price sales on those unique and expensive beads - so you need to keep an eye out. ABB is certainly more accessible than gem shows all year long - and I need to feel the bead so I get a 'feel' for the texture and colors of my designs - cannot do that with Fire Mountain, which often disappoints me when I receive my orders. Scrawny beads for supposedly cheap prices. (rolling eyes) I go to most of the gem shows around the NW and in Oregon, Texas and Ohio... and still enjoy going back to Alexanders to see what Sam Savar has managed to dig up in his travels. One of the owners is a wonderful beader and teaches classes. Their artwork and fine beading examples are around the store to peruse, and they don't panic that you might want to know how something is done - ergo, 'copy' their beadwork. So check out their website and blog - get on ther mailing list so you know when the sales are coming up. Only staff negative I can think of - sometimes the ABB clerks talk about things that are too personal, and not related to beading, and it is a small store so you can hear everything. Their lack of professionalism disturbed me once or twice, but overall I don't see it as a reflection of the store or the owners. I also had help when I asked for it, and they let me browse - and visualize - to my heart's content from the moment I walk in the door and pick up a basket - showing my ABB shopping savvy. Otherwise they'll ask if you want a basket. The only thing that really bothers me is that they are not open on Mondays. Seems that every time I go visit my family North of Seattle for a weekend and come back by Alexanders they are not open. I even went by bus one day taking an hour trip just to find them closed. Frustrating. I wish they would change that. I was serious when I offered to work there just on Mondays. LOL! Owner suggestions - besides opening on Mondays - please seriously consider moving the cash register about five feet closer to the door so they can see the front door better, and relate to incoming and outgoing clients so the clients feel more connected. Why not have a Suggestion Box so one could make proactive comments privately, or request different items? One could sign up for the mailing list there too.
