Very good food. The steak & mash potatoes were the star of the show. The brussel sprouts were not good to me, I think they needed to be cooked longer. Every year right before Christmas, our group has a tradition of dining at Red for a special evening out. Historically, we've had excellent experiences--enjoying the atmosphere, service, and food--and we typically spend a significant amount of money during each visit. Unfortunately, this year's experience was markedly different. We were seated at a high-top table in the bar area, where it was quite loud due to football on the TVs and general bar noise. We noticed there was little to no holiday music playing, which felt unusual for the season. At a very low volume--barely audible beyond our table--we played Christmas music briefly from a phone, primarily for our own enjoyment. Within minutes, a man approached our table and abruptly demanded that we turn the music off, stating that he didn't like it. His tone was abrasive and unnecessarily confrontational. At no point did he introduce himself or explain his role. Only after the interaction escalated did I ask if he worked there, at which point he stated he was the General Manager. This was not an appropriate or professional way to address guests--especially paying customers--regardless of the policy. To avoid further conflict, we immediately turned the music off. After taking a moment to process the interaction, I approached the hostess stand and asked to speak with the General Manager, Eric, to better understand the situation. During that conversation, Eric stated that no guest had complained and that he personally did not like the music. He also mentioned that the owner is Jewish, which he cited as the reason Christmas music was not being played. That comment was particularly concerning. Making religious references in this context felt inappropriate and unnecessary. In today's environment, it's difficult to imagine a scenario where a guest expressing personal preferences tied to religion would be acceptable, yet this explanation was offered without hesitation. Throughout the discussion, Eric showed no accountability for his approach or tone and continued to argue rather than listen or de-escalate. The situation could have been resolved easily with a respectful, professional introduction and a courteous request. To be clear, this was not an issue of policy--it was an issue of leadership and professionalism. As regular patrons who visit a few times per year and spend close to $1,000 per visit depending on wine selection, we will not be returning to this location as long as Eric remains the General Manager. A General Manager can either elevate or damage a guest experience, and unfortunately, this interaction did the latter. I would encourage ownership to review this incident. The interaction should be visible on camera--we were seated at the bar-adjacent high-top table on Saturday evening between 5:30 and 7:30 PM. This situation directly resulted in lost repeat business. That said, I want to recognize the positives: our server was excellent, and the Assistant General Manager who later checked on us was professional, attentive, and handled himself well. Bottom line: This entire situation could have been avoided with a simple, respectful introduction and a polite request. Instead, it was handled in a way that felt dismissive and unprofessional. I hope ownership takes this feedback seriously, as leadership behavior has a direct impact on customer loyalty and revenue. read more

I took my wife and daughter to Red in Pinecrest for my wife's birthday, and the experience was disappointing from start to finish. Despite noting the birthday in the reservation, reminding the host, and the server acknowledging it, the service quickly fell apart. When I asked for help with the wine list, the manager approached saying, "I am in the middle of something right now and I can help you if this isn't too long." Not exactly the tone you expect at a high-end steakhouse when reviewing bottles over $100. The hamachi crudo tasted far from fresh and lacked balance or acidity. Our entrées--two medium-rare filets, chicken parm, and sides--took far too long to arrive, to the point that staff repeatedly reassured us the food was "coming out shortly," even though we hadn't asked. When the steaks finally arrived, both were medium-well instead of medium-rare. They had to be remade, leaving the sides cold. The corrected steaks were the right temperature but lacked Red's signature sear, seasoning, and care. By the time they arrived, my daughter was already done eating. Dessert was another letdown. We ordered the bread pudding, which was gummy and tasteless, expecting it to accompany Red's typical complimentary birthday donuts--but those never appeared. When I asked, both the server and the manager confirmed they still offer them. The server even said he "didn't know it was her..." until I reminded him he had wished her a happy birthday at the start of the meal. We've celebrated birthdays and special events at Red for years, but after this experience, we'll be choosing other restaurants moving forward. Very disappointed. read more

We love the RED Steakhouse downtown, so we had to try the one in Pinecrest. The vibe of the restaurant is a bit different, maybe less upscale feeling? But, that's not a bad thing. We were seated right away and we got straight to ordering. My partner and I shared the shrimp cocktail, lump crab cake, ribeye, diver scallops, whipped potatoes,and the mac & cheese. For dessert, we got some sort of s'mores dessert, which was delicious. Overall, I would come back, especially with the lovely location of being among the Pinecrest shops. read more

The bone in steak was extremely salty that we had to get it redone. The mashed potato the same but my daughter kept quiet but later mentioned the same. We were not charged for it. So this review is not going to give you a great breakdown of the possibilities of the restaurant as we came here solely for dessert (we did have one appetizer, their special bruschetta with artichokes - it was really good). As far as the desserts - really disappointing. We tried 3 desserts: 1 - Black Tea Honey Cake - it was ok; 2 - Opera Torte, was also ok; and 3 - Pear Tart - really disappointing, the taste of star anise was so overpowering, we had to send it back. We went to Red for a couples' date night, and it was perfect! There were six of us (we made a reservation), and everyone was happy with both the service and the food. The steaks were flavorful and cooked to perfection, the sides were generous in portion, and the flavors paired beautifully. Our server was attentive, kind, and patient as we relaxed and enjoyed our time visiting together throughout the evening. One thing that keeps this from being a 5-star review. Parking! As someone who drives a manual transmission, I rarely allow others to park my car via valet (IYKYK). We came here with a group of nearly 20 people and they had a private room perfect for group events or celebrations. Wife and I went here to celebrate her birthday. First time in this location. The place is modern and welcoming, not what I imagined at all. The host was friendly and got us to our seats immediately. It became evident later-on when the bar filled up and the restaurant got busier that this was a bad idea (hence the 4-stars) The food was amazing. We had calamari for appetizer, it was fresh and not overly coated; Also not greasy, as some places tend to serve them to be. Dinner for me was a ribeye steak while the wife got the NY strip steak. We got the double crisp fingerling and Brussels sprouts. The food was delicious! Steak was cooked the way exactly we wanted them (medium) and the sides were pretty tasty. The potatoes had a rich garlic flavor to it that made it very savory. As a treat, as it was mentioned on our reservation, they brought out the beignets. This caught me off guard, as I assumed it would be "airy" inside....NOPE! It was like a fried pound cake, very dense. It came with 3 dipping sauces, chocolate, caramel and a berry one. Loved the berry dip and the chocolate was okay, Carmel, I could have doubled up on the berry. If you like sweets, make sure to save room for this, because it's very filling. Overall, we'll be back. I would highly recommend the croquettes for an appetizer and their cucumber cocktail to start. For dinner the filet mignon was delicious and perfectly cooked (med rare plus). I am no longer a regular at Red. Everything I've said below is true except for the ambience at the new location in Pinecrest -- I'm talking about the "ugly section" of the restaurant. Let me explain... It's that third portion deep into it that looks like you're in a cheap ballroom of a Holiday Inn. For the last three times I've been here, they sat my party here -- the equivalent of being given bleacher seats but for an expensive concert ticket. This section looks more like an office space. It normally wouldn't bother me, I'm a low maintenance guy, but I have a problem being charged Marble Room prices for what looks like a cheap wedding reception venue at your local La Quinta. For this reason, to avoid the risk of being banished to dine in this gulag section -- the better alternatives would be the nearby Cru (very elegant) or Giovanni's (they have a beautiful section called the Picasso room) or the Marble Room itself. Heck, The Cheesecake Factory might even look a bit more decent. Ambience does matter. I wouldn't serve a steak on a garbage lid, even if it was properly sanitized. Either that or they give people discounts for being seated in the construction-grade canvas paneling section of this once upscale restaurant. The rest of the restaurant is fine, it's just this 33% risk of being seated here that makes me hesitant to book -- god forbid your upscale restaurant experience could go downhill into Golden Coral buffet territory pretty quick. It was my birthday dinner and, I can't lie, I actually wanted to go to Capital Grille instead. We weren't able to get a reservation on a Friday night. So I opted for Red to check out their new space. We started off with the small Frutti Di Mare. Worth it in my opinion. Costly, but a great appetizer. Especially knowing we were going for steaks. I got the Filet Mignon (medium) and babe got the NY Strip (medium rare). Both cooked perfectly and tasted great! We shared the "Loaded" Potato Gnocchi (definitely get that) and Cauliflower & Prosciutto Gratin. Now that I'm thinking about it, I don't actually recall any Prosciutto. It was definitely the least favorite of the two, but a fine dish. Nothing to rush out to get. Dinner was finished off with a complementary dessert. They offer beignets with a few options for dipping. Fantastic! I would go again and just order that. Our server was Chris and he was awesome. Personable, attentive, and unobtrusive. Service was a little slow but my partner and I were occupied with each other and some strong cocktails! I see where other reviewers say the walls are plain to look out. It does make the space appear a bit unfinished but it wasn't super obvious to me when we walked in. Also, it wasn't as noisy as I was expecting, based off other reviews. One which was ordered medium rare came came medium plus more and was ver dry and had little taste. My bill for 2 steaks, sauce, one side potato, one salad and two drinks was over $220. Really enjoyed the Red experience. We were able to sit outside and immerse ourselves in the fresh air of a very nice Pine Crest development. We had the french onion dip as an appetizer and it was great. The olive oil with parmesan and garlic served prior is also a great app addition, just go easy on the bread, as it is all delicious and you don't want to get super full before having a steak. Our steaks were perfectly cooked, I had the 16oz ribeye and my wife had the 8oz filet mignon, both a perfect medium rare, as flavorful and tender as advertised. We had the mixed mushrooms as a side and it also pairs really well with the flavor and consistency of the meats. The carrot cheesecake was a piece of art, wonderfully plated and with an explosion of flavors, highly recommend it. Our waitress was great, friendly and very attentive, but the kitchen service was considerably slower than you'd be expecting for a weeknight service at an otherwise 5 star restaurant. The pandemic brings some personnel constraints, so i'm hoping it's just that and that next time kitchen service flows better and is on par with what this restaurant aims for, but we do plan on coming back. read more

The entrance is kinda tricky to find for this place it's tucked right between a hair salon and Moxie. Perfectly nice. The steak and potatoes were absolutely delicious. They came out quick, hot and fresh. The service was top notch and there is a great wine/ cocktail menu. Happy hour is only served at the bar. This restaurant is connected to Moxie physically and has the same owner. Parking can be a bit difficult due to the small parking lot to it might be a good idea to drop off your date or elderly grandma at the door before parking. They do have party rooms for business parties, and other occasions if needed. As I was here on a Tuesday night I'm not quite sure if reservations are needed on the weekend but it definitely was not mandatory on a week day. read more

Of course, no one can honestly tell the heat count unless they take a bite, but the seeds are left in..soooo do the math. Mine were a 8-9 on scale of 1-10 hot. Ya, thankful for the nice, crusty bread to help soothe the tongue after dancing with danger. We also had the crab cakes of the day which were browned lightly, moist and flavorful. These two cakes were paired with a Tabouli salad and it was a refreshing duo. We were very excited to try RED, and ended up very disappointed. The front of the restaurant is lovely and cozy, with lots of windows, wood, and atmosphere. We were a party of six so we were seated in the back room which had very few windows and zero atmosphere. Our view was a large red wall and a TV that was turned off. The lighting was really bright so it looked and felt like a conference room at a budget hotel. Nothing on the walls save a few sound absorbers. Our server was friendly, although he did disappear for long periods. We were seated at 6:45pm on a Saturday, and the restaurant was not even half full the entire night. At 9pm I had to track down our server and ask him where our dinner was. We had ordered appetizers and drinks, but dinner didn't appear until 9:15. There was one bread basket dropped off and never refilled. The bread was nothing special, although the olive oil/spices/parmesan mix was very good. Most of the steaks were over-cooked. I ordered mine rare and it was medium. Another in our party ordered the porterhouse, which they dropped on the floor and had to make something else--so his meal came out even later. They also didn't have another porterhouse so he had to order something else. We didn't want to send anything back as it was getting close to 9:30 and we wanted to eat before they closed. The presentation is nonexistent; just a hunk of meat on a big white plate. No drizzle, garnish, or presentation of any kind. The side dishes were very good (tater tots, potatoes au gratin, brussels sprouts). The server did not ask if anyone wanted dessert (we wanted to try the donut holes) or a last round of drinks, he just dropped the check and disappeared again. The manager never came over, even after the dropped steak (although we didn't ask for the manager, that should be standard procedure when things are going wrong). We didn't leave until almost 10pm. There is a 20% service charge added on (which is fine), but at $915 for dinner, I expected a lot more. We won't be going back; there are so many other good steak restaurants in the area, this one is just expensive to be expensive. Skip it and go somewhere else. read more

Pulling up to Red the valet is complementary just make sure your hostess validates it for you. staff was constantly checking in, and very accommodating to two young children in our party ages 5 and 2. Food came out quickly and to exact specifications. No one table was too noisy, did not even notice the low music until i was listening for it, perfect volume for small party conversation. read more

We picked this restaurant for our anniversary dinner because we heard it was an experience to dine here. We were not disappointed either. Our server was knowledgeable and very friendly. He suggested what was freshest coming out of the kitchen and what to avoid as the MP on some of the seafood wasn't worth the price. We started off with fresh made, hot and crusty dinner rolls followed by the antipasti plate. There was a spicy antoulli sausage pate, salami, prosciutto and 2 cheeses, pickles veggies and granola. Next, we had our entrees and they came out very quickly. We enjoyed a strip steak and a ribeye. Oh my goodness, the meat was seasoned and cooked perfectly! I treated my recently high school grad to what I hoped would be a great dinner. It wasn't bad but for the prices they charge it was disappointing. I'll try to make this short and sweet. I ordered a filet medium rare. I made a unforced error by not cutting into the center of the steak. I started at one end and it was medium rare, however, as I worked my way towards the center it became progressively rarer. By the time I got close to the end it was definitely a rare, rare. I don't know how they did that trick but it made for a disappointing steak. My waiter was less than attentive, he never checked to see how my meal was and I had to ask another waiter who was walking by to get me another glass of wine. I don't mind paying top dollar for a meal, but I expect to get perfect food and attentive service. read more
