The mysterious food critic returns-currently working through the top steakhouses in the Cleveland area. I've tried Heritage Steak & Whisky and Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse so far. Heritage's ribeye landed in the mid-tier range; the bone marrow was a creative addition but didn't quite save it. Hyde Park impressed with well-seasoned American wagyu and above-average mashed potatoes, but the steak itself fell short on tenderness and had some chew at medium rare. Final verdict: 3 stars

I've been in Cleveland for the past 4 days and I've eaten here twice. The first night the filet that I ordered as medium actually came out medium. The au gratin potatoes are amazing. My second time here Melanie and Nichole at the bar make amazing drinks. I can't wait to come back to Cleveland so I can visit Prime again.

Great atmosphere and service was impeccable. Food and drinks were amazing. I was very impressed with the quality, and the price. Definitely a repeat offender.

Food was 10/10. Our server was super attentive and quick with every request. The sea bass was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Garlic mash and asparagus was great. I love all the art and the vibe. There was a man playing requests on the piano with a group around him having a ball. My only dings would be that the oysters were very thin/little and the espresso martini didn't have real espresso in it but our server let me add a cup of espresso on the side to pour into it. Strange that they wouldn't just make the martini with it.

Visited this location while staying at Hotel Indigo with a good friend from Florida and enjoyed every minute! The ambiance was wonderful, not too crowded, seated almost immediately. Drinks were great, our servers were fantastic and the food was exceptional!!! My filet was done perfectly Medium rare (not too many can get that right!! Their chopped salad is phenomenal! The sides are shareable which is great we got two which was definitely enough! No room for dessert! I thoroughly enjoyed myself and so did those that were with me! I will be back!

Garlic whipped potatoes. And bone-in ribeye with mushrooms.

My fiancee and I visited this location on June 19, 2025 and had an amazing experience. The ambiance had an upscale, intimate feel to it. The staff was friendly, and efficient. And the food was top tier in quality. We had the bone-in ribeye with mashed potatoes, and a piece of flourless chocolate torte for dessert. I would highly recommend this location to anyone in search of a classy date night.

Hyde Park offers an amazing happy hour menu that's available Monday - Friday from 4:30 - 6:00pm. We enjoyed the tuna wontons, jumbo shrimp cocktail, spinach and cheese dip, and the sirloin sliders. The happy hour is quite popular so advise that you arrive right at 4:30 to secure a seat at the bar. The high-tops located around the bar can be reserved.

A good sized portion of the chicken on the early dining menu. My guest said the French onion soup was fantastic.

I've been to this restaurant many times. This past time was great as usual. The service was perfect. We went for the early bird specials and they were great. I usually get a steak, but this time I went for the crabcake and the lobster bisque. I would not hesitate to get this again

Really enjoyed our experience here! Nice atmosphere, really great staff. The cocktails were ok... food was excellent!! Will definitely be back for steaks again! Would recommend the filet and the potatoes. Brussel sprouts weren't bad but probably wouldn't order again. Caesar salad was yum and croutons were divine! The salad in the photo is split between 2 ppl.

Steakhouse, so you know what to expect. Very consistent with our last visit, which says a lot. Food and service are top notch with prices to match. Our food was made to perfection and service was very timely and friendly

Food and service are consistently great. I am obsessed with the food here. My favorites include the wedge salad (candied pecans and a port wine reduction omg), the filet with Cabernet sauce (I always ask for extra sauce because it's fantastic), brussels sprouts with bacon jam (amazing), and the Gruyère gratin potatoes (heavenly). The desserts are spectacular too, my favorites are the bananas foster and cherries jubilee, both flambéed table-side and both not commonly found at other places. Their happy hour is also wonderful with great deals on select drinks and food; the pear martini is incredible and for food, I'd recommend the carpaccio, sliders, and tuna wontons. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere, and a few different rooms. I especially enjoy the room with the fireplace. The bar area is lively and fun with live piano music. I love coming here.

Beautiful restaurant and delicious food! The staff were all very friendly and attentive! Came here to celebrate my birthday and they sang for me and brought out a delicious s'mores dessert. Would definitely return!

Since we were hungry, we followed another yelper's advice of getting an appetizer since we were warned the mains can take 30-40 minutes. Ordered the cracklin wings--got the ghost pepper dry rub which was recommended by the staff who also reassured me that it wasn't too spicy given that it was also sweet and came with ranch. Tasted great, super crispy on the outside, chicken not the most juicy but still tender. 4/5. Also ordered the truffle orcchiette, pork chop, and heirloom carrots. The truffle orcchiette had a great al dente texture but surprisingly compared to the other yelper reviews, was saltier than expected. 4/5 Favorites were definitely the pork chop and heirloom carrots. The pork chop came without the bone, already chopped up, and was the he most tender pork chop I've had. 5/5 The carrots were so well seasoned, with a great charred taste and came with an addicting puree. 5/5 Service was fantastic, with great recommendations. While the birthday guest was away from the table, I did sneakily ask if they do anything for birthdays, and the staff said that they do a scoop of ice cream. Since the sticky toffee pudding already came with a scoop of ice cream, they were considerate to do 2 cookies instead--the cookies weren't too sweet and reminded me of brownie batter. Sticky toffee pudding was good. 4/5 Restaurant is located in Pinecrest so parking available as free parking in a garage about a block away or as pay by mobile street parking. Ambience is great, perfect for a nice meal for a date or hangout. Overall a great place to celebrate a special occasion due to all the good food choices and staff who know how to treat birthday guests well.

I told him I would arrive within 40 mins and he said to just walk-in. The website says this is fine dining so for someone to answer the phone and discourage reservations was skeptical. When we arrived we were told since we didn't have reservations we had to sit outdoors. Now the forecast said rain in 10mins. So we told the lady at the desk that I spoke to the man that also at the door about reservations. She said no problem we waited about 10 minutes and we were seated. Our waitress Abby was amazing! I wanted a wellness drink and they were all out but she suggested other mocktail options. She then asked if we wanted tap water or sparkling bottle water. I was confused that they don't have filtered water. We got the tap and it smelled like sewer. We then asked for a bottle of sparkling water. And realized the glass cups smelled bad. If you want a wellness drink arrive early when they open around 11am. It was 1pm when I ordered my food. I ordered the Farmer's breakfast, it came with Two eggs any style, choice of crispy bacon or chicken sausage, grilled sourdough, potatoes. The potatoes were crumbs and left overs, a scoop of potatoes. For a $19 meal I couldn't believe what I was being served. The chicken sausage was amazing! The sourdough bread was grilled with no oil or butter. I asked for jelly thinking they would have compote. Instead they have mini jars of jelly. The main difference is that jam is a shelf-stable, fruit-puree preserve made with high amounts of sugar and added pectin. Compote is a chunkier, less sugary fruit sauce cooked quickly without pectin and meant to be eaten fresh. My husband had the Last Chicken Sandwich, which he said was good but the sandwich didn't come with a side just a $18 chicken sandwich that tasted wonderful.

The honey garlic chicken was excellent not too dry a little bit sweet with a balsamic tomato accompaniment. The Parmesan potatoes were awful. They tasted like plastic! Unfortunately, it just does not feel like the same place anymore. First, the addition of high tops really changes the atmosphere. What once felt upscale and classic now leans more "sports bar with expensive steaks." Maybe that is just me, but part of the appeal was the elegance and experience. Then came the steaks. We ordered three expensive steaks medium, and before they even came out, the waiter realized the kitchen heard "well done." We politely asked for it to be corrected before the food hit the table. Somehow, one still arrived well done anyway. Thankfully, someone at the table took one for the team and ate it, but when dinner runs around $600, you hope the steaks and the temperatures are both memorable for the right reasons. At one point, a side dish was dropped on the floor. Accidents happen, no big deal. But we did have to gently clarify that yes, we would still like the dish... just preferably not the "farm to floor" version. The disappointing part is that I had promised a fantastic worker and his amazing wife a really special night out. This unfortunately was not it. I genuinely hope this was just an off night, because this place used to set the standard. For now though, we will probably try another steakhouse next time.

Eight years worth of Fairmount moments later, this review is well overdue. AMBIANCE: The ambiance allows you to slow down and enjoy your company. The restaurant is dim lit, has fireplaces, and loungey atmosphere. It somehow feels warm and I heard a lot of people refer to it as a second home (people are always so friendly here!). There is ample space - three bars, main dining space, and huge outdoor oasis bar. Nestled in Cedar Fairmount neighborhood, you'll also be able to enjoy historic neighborhood. There are seating arrangements if you're craving company or want to enjoy your date. Seating options include couches by the fireplace, tables, and high tops. Fairmount is delightful during every season. During the summer you can enjoy the bar and patio. In the winter you can dine at the igloos. I prefer all seasons here. FOOD/DRINKS: The menu at Fairmount is impressive and has exciting seasonal/weekly additions. You'll never get bored. The cocktails here are refined, very boozy, and very well crafted. The food is seriously delicious, and consistent every single time. I've been impressed with every dish. The dishes and drinks frequently follow the seasons. During my latest visit I enjoyed Butter Pecan Warm Cider with bourbon ($12, so bold and boozy, tastes like fall). I also ordered Fig Trouble Little China ($15, a more rich version of Old Fashioned, so delicious). I also tasted Short Rib & Risotto for the very first time ($28, such a delicious dish, every bite was just amazing). My favorites? Ah, so hard! I'll go with the Fairmount Burger! It's angus beef burger with bacon-fig chutney. It's so delicious! I can't even be serious about meat at the other burger places, this is easily the best burger in the city. My seasonal favorite? Kevin McCallister seasonal drink that resembles coquito or eggnog. The drink is topped with rice paper that includes the design of Kevin from Home Alone. It's such a fun tradition! I look forward to this drink all year and always tell the world about it! SERVICE: The service is excellent. I haven't been anywhere where service is right on point every single time. Everyone is nice - the owner, hosts, and waitstaff. You truly feel seen and like the most important guest. I've visited previously while on dates and frequently dine here solo, always had the most pleasant service. EVENTS: Many people book events here for their non-profits or companies. As far as individual events, Fairmount hosts a fun NYE party every year! PARKING: Onsite parking lot is available at the back of the building. You can enter through the front doors on Cedar or right through the parking lot door. There are numerous reasons why I love the Fairmount. I consider it to be the best dining experience in the Cedar Fairmount neighborhood of Cleveland Heights. I also love how the owner Jake is very engaged in the community and is incredibly friendly with the surrounding business owners. I'll choose this place again and again for calming ambiance, crafted cocktails, and delicious food. To many more years of Fairmount and at Fairmount!
