I've found it: the perfect gift for any occasion from wedding to funeral.
Marielle S.

I am updating and bumping up to five stars because this thrift store has become my first stop whenever I am looking for something from clothing to cheap electronics. Over the past year I have found multiple working, great condition Polaroid cameras for a photographer friend of mine for $4 a piece. These cameras can be resold online for good bucks- score! I have found multiple dresses brand new with tags that I was able to snag for less than $10. I have found collectible gifts for next to nothing that cost WAY more online and that friends will cherish for a lifetime. Just today a found a practically brand new denim jacket for $6. If you aren't a regular thrift store shopper, I know you are rolling your eyes, but trust me- you will be surprised what you find here. I constantly see brand new items for men and women that are selling at a steal. I wouldn't go so far as to buy swimsuits or shoes here (that's where I draw the line), but when I need a new dress for a casual event, this spot is always my first (and usually only) stop.

Originally from a NY Italian restaurant. Quality, and useful. What's bad?

I've worked retail so I understand the rush of wanting to go home, but must we be rude and even asking a simple question is too much?

This one isn't as big as the one in Harahan but I still usually find great items at a reasonable price.

Now I'm a big thrift store junkie, especially since I'm trying to lose weight and don't want to…read morespend much money on clothes. This Salvation Army by far has a wonderful selection of furniture. Even when I don't need furniture (I'm big about reducing, reusing, recycling and have sanded down a table by hand and varnished it etc.) I still take a look. They also have a reasonable book selection and being the book lover that I am I can be a bit gluttonous when it comes to books. I mean, who can pass up a book by Maureen Dowd that says "Are Men Necessary?" I bought it because it made me laugh (the feminist woman that I am, don't worry guys, I still love ya'll but it is a pretty funny title). Then there was the one that intrigued me entitled "The Year of Living Biblically." I'm a good ol' Catholic Filipina lady and the idea of someone trying to live as literal as possible from the bible cracks me up! Especially since the bible was written by how many people? Don't get me started on Theology. Anywho, back to my review. I have bought many dresses and skirts in this location. I still think the Goodwill on Tulane Ave. is cheaper but hey, this is my second go to spot. There is also a huge selection of guy stuff. I like looking at the bric a brac as well. The donation site is the next building over and the people are quite friendly. I've donated a papasan chair (imagine that round chair in Cost Plus World Market that you think is comfy but you end up falling out of, well I kept falling out of it! hehe) and other items. They are very efficient and help you unload your car as well as politely asking if you want a tax deduction receipt. There is a convenient parking lot and it's across from Lowe's. Plus it's near Crabby Jack's which is delish but never open when I want to go! hehe

Ever since I was released from jail in February I have been struggling with homelessness. I…read morerecently visited the salvation army men's shelter in new Orleans and I was shocked by the way it was treating people that was staying at the facility. As soon as I walked in the door I was threatened by the security guard. She stated that if I don't want to sleep outside tonight I needed to get on the back side of the table

Have you ever noticed that whenever you go into one of the Out of the Closet stores, that no matter…read morewhich one you go into, no matter what city you're in, they all feel and look exactly the same? This location is absolutely no different. You walk into it, and you know you're in an Out of the Closet. In terms of what they have to offer, they offer what all Out of the Closet stores present, high-end vintage clothing. The clothing they offer is very well curated and you know you're going to get something nice. Sure, you may be able to find something similar at a thrift store for a cheaper price, but there's no guarantees. And, there's certainly no guarantee that you're going to find a high-quality item of that something that you want in a specific style and format like you can at Out of the Closet. All Out of the Closets locations offer a very nice selection of both men's and women's clothing. Plus, they all have tons of shoes. This one is no different. Like all Out of the Closets, sometimes you find what you're looking for and sometimes you may find something really great that you never even expected that you wanted. And, sometimes you're going to find nothing at all. That's just the name of the game. So, if you're on Magazine Street, and you want to take a shot and grab that really interesting piece of vintage clothing, this may be your place to do it.

This love thrifting. This place has enough for all. They had…read moreclothes for all shapes and sizes. We picked up an lsu sweatshirt for 10.00 it was in excellent condition. The prices were very fair and reasonable and the customer service was excellent.
