We were thrifting and decided to stop by here. There's a giant parking lot the place is even bigger. The sections are really well separated. They have a lot but not too much name brand clothes. Although they are beyond pricey when you can get almost anything new for under 10 bucks. The prices should be more fitting for the type of store it is. I have been cleaning my mother who passed away house out. I brought house hold items and clothes, on a Saturday. I continued to clean the house on Sunday, I made sure to try my best to bring things that I thought were good usesble items, of course, some things that were not good were bound to slip through. The next day my husband brought some more stuff, there was some misunderstanding about what was the time cut off to drop clothes off. The guy was rude to my husband and told my husband that he had to throw away most of the things that I had brought the day before because it was junk. I did not know clothes and a shower chair for the elderly was junk. If he felt that way, he should have kept that to himself. I understand that it was not the most expensive stuff, and some of it may have been outdated, but to call my dead mother's belongs junk was rude and horrible. Red, White and Blue is my usual thrift stop on the Westbank, so naturally I am going to compare this store to my "go to". Pros: They accept credit cards They have fitting rooms The store is really well organized. Not only are things organized by gender, but they are organized by size and style with big signs (noted improvement since Jennifer B's visit). No long lines Cheap cheap cheap: they had some decent looking tops for as low as $2 Great selection of kid's clothes for low prices. Considering how quickly little kids grow out of things, why waste your money paying retail? Cons: Abysmal electronics selection and a lot of what they do have is broken. A lot of the things they have are stained or torn, so be sure to check each item carefully. Quality of merchandise is less than other thrift stores, but there is much more of it. Housewares are piled on top of each other and completely unorganized I HATE the area where this store is located and there are pan handlers in the parking lot that store owners do nothing about. There you have it- a solid three star rating. This spot is worth checking out, but don't expect to find anything spectacular. read more

I used to love this thrift store...it was my go-to thrift shop. Then they removed the fitting rooms. Seriously. There's no place to try on clothing before buying it. So...yeah...you just have to hope it fits, I guess? Or buy a bunch of stuff and bring it home to try on and then bring back all the stuff that doesn't fit quite right or doesn't go together like you thought it would or whatever and then wait in a line to get a refund on all the not-quite-right stuff that you would have normally just put back on the rack after discovering you didn't actually want it while TRYING IT ON IN THE NOW-NONEXISTENT DRESSING ROOM. I've never before seen a thrift store go from "pretty cool" to "utterly useless and absolutely annoying" in literally a single day. With the removal of the fitting rooms, Thrift City has managed to accomplish this noteworthy transformation. Not going here again to shop. Not going here again to drop off my never-used or gently-used clothes. I'll start donating and shopping elsewhere. Did I mention that this place sells clothing and has no fitting rooms? read more

Dude. So good. I like this place because it's fairly well organized, and has new stuff every week. It's cheaper than goodwill, and open on Sundays. They have a ton of "stuff" that isn't clothes- small appliances, knick knacks, etc that keeps my husband occupied while I rummage through the dresses. Minus one star because they used to have a "vintage" section and a "better" section, which would showcase their brand name or legitimately vintage items. Both were gone when I went 2 days ago. Three reasons why this is my favorite thrift store in N'awlins 1. The staff is super-friendly, always willing to take a minute to say hello or help you shop. Can't say enough about the difference this makes. 2. They have plenty of dressing rooms, so I can try on crazy combinations or items I might not normally buy straight off the rack for fear they would not fit right. 3. The prices are really cheap, so just in case I do bring an item home that hugs in all the wrong places, I can donate it back without feeling bad. They also have a pretty good selection of books, toys and puzzels. I usually walk out with a few good steals. As an added bonus, they take plastic and give military and SC discounts. I've always loved thrift stores but I find myself deferring to them more now since I am focused on managing my finances better and have developed an interest in certain "vintage" accessories and clothing. Also, I find flipping through all the clothing on the ocean of racks relaxing after a long challenging week. Am I the only one?? Anywho, I like this store because it it big and usually neat. Overall, I like the selection. Usually I am able to find a few cute things. The staff kinda stays out of your way but they seem like they would be helpful if a customer had an issue. The prices are about average compared to other thrift stores in Nola. I believe they have certain days of the month where they offer additional discounts. They take credit cards and have a parking lot. They don't have a fitting room which is annoying and the reason I can't give 5 stars. read more

Open on Sunday. That's the only reason we ended up here. My daughter had to dress like an "old person" for school on Monday and I forgot about this until Sunday. Being one of the very few thrift stores open on Sunday, Thrift City as on the agenda. It's incredibly disorganized. I haven't found a thrift store in NOLA to organize by size (irritating) but at least most of them sort by color... this place doesn't have any sort of organization system that I've been able to see. This place is horrible! You walk through the front door and it smells of must, urine, and cigarettes. Everything is extremely overpriced for a THRIFT store.... that receives everything thru donation. The customer service is appalling. They literally treat you like trash and and will give you nothing but attitude if you dare ask for help or assistance. I made the mistake of going back in a second time for something I really wanted to purchase but couldn't bring myself to give them any of my hard earned money after the disrespect I received. Thrift shops are where to go when you have to buy new jeans, but don't want to shell out big bucks for "new" jeans. I don't know how much a new pair of Levi's costs, but I know you can't buy 'em for six dollars. On my last two trips to Thrift City USA, I ended up with four slightly-used pairs of Levi's and probably spent a total of $25. No rips, tears, frays, or holes in any of 'em. Sometimes the waist size on the handwritten sales tag doesn't match the size on the jeans, but that's what dressing rooms are for. The best thrift shop finds are the ones you weren't looking for. On my most recent visit I grabbed two(!) Mexican wedding shirts, and an ECKO Unlimited button-down Speed Racer shirt that was priced at $5(!!). On the previous visit I found a two-disc DVD of "Grave of the Fireflies" with no price tag. It rang up for $2(!!!). Clean store, friendly staff, lots to look through, and pretty easy to get to. The store is large. LOTS of clothes and shoes. Large barrels of Mardi Gras beads and pre-bagged stuffed toys (about 12 - 15 per bag for $5.99). The toys weren't new, but most were in good to very good condition. The store could be a little cleaner. The clothes were well organized, but other sections of the store weren't. This thrift store used to be the bomb and because they are open on Sunday you can shop at your convenience however imagine walking in the door and being treated like a thief just because o use a backpack as a purse ( I have one good arm) I was immediately accosted and told I have to leave my backpack with a cashier that idk. I asked why and if she were bonded is there a secure area that has a key like a locker? I said how can I guarantee you won't steal something from my bag? She stated I just work here and even though it's not posted that's what they tell me to do. She called for a manager and I asked him the same questions. This place use to be the place. Now i see its a fraud. If you go there in the morning you will see the employees taking all the suppose to be 75% off stuff off the rack putting it in a basket. Why advertise 75%off tags and all you do is take them and bring them to the back. Keep your eyes open it never fail. They dont speak to you when they make eye contact. One time i spoke to heavy set guy hes the main one that takes the 75% tags to the back and he rolled his eyes. Most of the stuff is over priced as well. I say stay away. read more

I shop here a lot and have a horrible taste in my mouth after my first return attempt. First off, I bought a blender that said 'works' on the box. I happen to shop here quite a bit and trusted that the blender worked. Well, less than a week later I try to go use it and it totally doesnt work. I went in the store to return the item and they would not accept the return because I didnt have my receipt. I understand not giving cash back when theres no receipt but the issue is that the price is written on the item, I offered I would take store credit even half credit (any other store wouldve done this). They refused and were honestly pretty rude when I said its not like I decided I don't like it.. it was broken! After making a donation of two leather blue chairs one rug one child's coat and an umbrella I was disgusted by the way I was treated at checkout. I had several items I was purchasing for my nieces when I was told a gap girls jacket size XXL didn't have the tag attached so it couldn't be sold. The chasier explained that she was unable to sell me the gap jacket due to the pink tag (50%) today making it about 3.50. I was appauld, knowing the tag was attached to the jacket upon checkout. I still purchased the other items and tried to negotiate some kind of option so I wouldn't miss out on such a great deal. Unfortunately the cashier stated it was policy, she could not hold the jacket, or figure something out on the spot to accommodate me ( the customer). I feel the cashier didn't want to sale me the jacket for whatever reason for that price and instead ripped the tag off . Well, I found a gorgeous silk top by Eileen Fisher, with the tags still on it. The MSRP was $218.00. Thrift City's price was $7.99, BUT, because it was one of their sale days, it was 50% off!!!! Yep, I got it for $4.00. WooHoo!!! The cashier, who was very nice, told me that they have a 50% off sale on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month. I will definitely be going back!!!! read more
