I bought the irish setter boots and both boots had holes by big toe...brought em back to the redwing store where i bought them in nyc and they claimed its not a manufacturer defect so im stuck with $300 boots with holes in both of them....redwings guarantee ain't worth the paper its written on and as a union bricklayer i tell all my union brothers about the way red wing don't stand behind their product anymore...I'm with thorogood boots from now on....redwings stink!! read more

I have to say that the customer service I received from Obren was so outstanding that I'm giving him a review here so that his employer knows what an asset Obren is to their company. You just don't find the kind of service I received anywhere, anymore. It was refreshing, and I feel that such customer service should be recognized. I needed work boots, so I finally had an excuse to drop some cash at Red Wing Shoes. Well, that and I like their style. I was helped right away and learned that you could get steel toe or composite boots, which are lighter and just what I needed. He showed me which styles come in women's sizes (too few!). I tried on two pairs and picked the Irish Setter. They do repairs and the boots have a warrantee. Excellent! Easy, friendly, high quality. And they give union members a discount. read more

Great shoes. A strong product lineup. I don't believe that you can argue with that. However, to tell me that I'll be paying the better part of $300 including taxes, for shoes that are now MADE IN CHINA??? Seriously? What are they working on, a seven or eight hundred percent profit margin? Who operates like this, and manages to stay in business? I really wish I had read the reviews on Yelp and Google before going because it looks like they've had service problems for years. The customer service here is some of the worst I've experienced. The man and woman working were completely rude and appeared inconvenienced by our presence. I went into the store ready to buy a pair of $300 boots. I knew the exact pair and size that I wanted because I had ordered them online and just needed a half size down. I asked to try on the boot in a size 10 and was told that the size I had originally ordered (10.5) actually WASN'T too big, I just "needed to purchase the $40 inserts too". Again, I was fully prepared to spend $300 on the boots I wanted. Not only did the manager not listen or respect me when I said that I did not want that size but he immediately tried to up-sell me. He said "I want you to try the 10.5 before you try the 10" and made me try on the same boot I already returned online for being too big. I tried them on and told him again that they were too large and that I would like to try on the 10. He kept saying, "the 10 is going to be too snug, you don't want these boots to fit that way". It was retail gaslighting if I've ever seen it. He was trying to convince me that the 10.5 was the right size even though he wasn't the one trying them on or purchasing them! I was so disconcerted by this I left without purchasing anything. I honestly do not know how they are still in business since it seems this is how they operate. I was completely disrespected by the staff here. The negligence and indifference of the employees is unsettling. I believe in the product and the Red Wing company but I have never felt more uninspired to buy something than I did during this experience. This store is hit or miss with the customer service. In October I went into the store and was greeted with a smile. The salesman was attentive and answered​ numerous questions. I was extremely happy with my experience, so much so that I almost purchased​ a second pair on the spot. On a whim,​​​ I decided​ to go back and purchase the second pair​​ I was contemplating​ three weeks prior. As I enter the store I saw the Assitant manager and another man seat in the showroom. I was greeted by the manager and he promptly​ headed to the back. the man that was seated I presumed was a customer, he was not, he actually works​ at the store. As I looked around he went behind the counter​ and looking​ at his cell phone.​ After signaling him for his attention he gave me a dismissive look. he reluctantly​ walked over to me, and I asked for my specific shoe size. He quick said the shoes I picked was sold out in my size and rushed back behind the counter to continue looking at his cell phone. I wanted to pick another pair and ask about them but he was so focused​ on his cell phone I left annoyed. I will say I have been wearing Red Wings​ since 1997, all my experience were professional​ and courteous​​. I plan to buy the boot I want but never from this store. Redwing Shoes are a favorite among construction workers. I had to order two styles that weren't in stock. When they came in a couple of weeks later, they called me up to notify me. What I did not like was that they were a bit crude with their answers. There was something in the air that I can't pinpoint; it was almost hostile. The guy behind the computer apologized for his rudeness so I wasn't imagining it. I picked up on me of the two styles that fit and left. They do give Union Members a $15.00 discount. read more

Love that there's a local Red Wing location over in Gowanus. I stopped in just to check sizing and to see what they had available. They were about to close (8 on weekdays), but the two guys working there were super accommodating. Of course, they have the Heritage lines in store, as well as their work boots. They said they have limited stock, but they can order any color or sizing combination you want, which is cool. Think of it more as a showroom than a shoe store... a shoeroom? Sorry. read more

But unfortunately this store has some horrible customer service especially one sales man they have who should really look for another job I forget his name but please stay away from him black curly hair a little accent . I went there to see if they could repair my boots he said they no longer sold that boot . So I said what can me done the year is not up yet he pushed on me buying a $385 boot. I told him that wasn't my budget then he said so what hell can I do . Eventually I saw the same boot but only difference was that it was steel toe I asked if I could take that one and he said yea ok what ever give me $15 to pay the difference . I asked to speak to a manger and he denied me . Read the reviews on Yelp and Google so was a bit suspect. Nothing but good things in my experience. Called ahead of time to ask about workboot models and sizes. The guy checked - said they didn't have my size but had other, similar, workboots available. I was still suspect but drove down anyway. Nice sales guy - no hassle, no rush or pushing to buy other stuff. Explained warranty and services. Got in and out in about 5 minutes. I can't understand the negative reviews this Red Wing shoe store has received. The manager is great. We talked about shoes, especially Red Wing shoes, and so many other things. He was extremely helpful and forwarded an idea about a wider shoe for winter use with extra heavy Merino wool socks. He has a great sense of humor. My oldest daughter accompanied me and she had a conversation about teaching, she's a teacher. As it turns out, the manager's wife is a teacher. This is the first Red Wing store I had a great time in. I shopped in Red Wing stores in Westbury and Sunnyside Queens. I've been buying Red Wing products, locally from Red Wing stores, since 1990 when I purchased my first pair of Vasque hiking boots for use in the Colorado Rockies National Forest. I also purchased Red Wing Irish Setter work boots. I'm a union electrician and licensed. I work a lot and need comfortable shoes and this location is a great place to purchase them.
