I don't rent very often and when I do it is usually a truck for moving. I was in between apartments and had to rent a truck twice, once to move from apartment to storage and another time to move from storage to apartment...You get the idea. My first experience here was really easy, the truck was $39.99 + Tax and suited all my needs. There was some confusion over my method of payment, they authorize a card for $250 for deposit then you get charged after the rental is returned for whatever the cost is plus mileage, gas, etc. The $250 then gets put back on your card, well in my case they accidentally charged my card, luckily they were able to refund it and there was really no harm done. My second experience was just as easy, I asked for the same thing I had a month ago and there was no questions asked. Once I payed I notice the rate is suddenly $49.99 + Tax. There is no price listing I can find on the web site and when I asked about the change I was told they just moved their rates on the 1st of the month. Seemed a little fishy to me especially since it was May 1st and I was specific in asking for the same thing I just had less than 30 days ago. I would think at the time i was filling out paper work before actually renting the truck someone would have mentioned, "Hey, by the way our rates changed starting this month and it is different from your last rental". I didn't really feel valued as a customer who came back twice in a month to rent equipment and was a little upset I wasn't informed about the change in price. I think they must do a heavy of a lot better with tool rental than party stuff. I've rented with them for years, and stick with them even after living from the neighborhood. Skid loaders, compactors, trailers, dumpsters for concrete debris, electric jackhammers. Tools are always top-rate and work well. All the accessories are there. The sales people know of what they speak. Again that's for tools. I've never rented other stuff. Oh, and the delivery.. that is super convenient and they come on time. read more

Here's a few questions: -Why is it necessary to block the entire street when you could easily pull over to one side and let traffic pass? -When someone who lives on that street politely asks if you can please move, why did the Reddy Rent employee think "just go around!" was an appropriate, polite, or rational response? -Since we were on a one-way street and the truck was at the very end of the block, obstructing the entire street, how exactly was I supposed to go around? -When I asked if it was really necessary that the truck block the entire street, why did the Reddy Rent employee think "We're only blocking part of the street" was an appropriate, polite, or rational response? -When I stopped to look closer at the truck, why did another employee, seemingly the owner, think yelling "writing down the license plate won't do you any good!" was the best way to interact with the public and potential customers? -Why would anyone think this is a good way to represent their business? There's only so many rental companies in Minneapolis. If you want to make yours stand out, don't do so in a negative way. If I ever need to rent something, I know I sure as shit won't go to this company, and tell all of my friends to do the same. read more

This is the place you need in your back pocket when you need to rent, well, anything you might need in the way of contracting/home repair/entertainment. Most recently I rented a Penske truck here for a one way move. The truck was ready, cleaned, fully fueled and ready to go just as promised. We rented a truck from Penske with our starting location in Columbus, Ohio. The first issue there was that we paid for a dolly and were never given one. I called and was told we would be given a refund for that item. When we got to Saint Paul, MN, our destination, we unloaded our truck and my father in law called Hiawatha Reddy Rents to see when we could drop off the truck. My husband and his dad went and made sure the tank of the truck was full. $127 and some change to fill the tank (we filled twice so we know that the truck was filled.) Whoever the spoke with at the Reddy Rents told them to just drop the truck off and the keys in a certain location. They would call in the morning when they opened if there were any issues. To my surprise a few days later there was a charge for almost $70 for gas to fill the tank of the truck. We were never called. I called Reddy Rents and got no response. I had to call my credit card company for help. We received a letter through the cc company from this Penske location saying my husband signed off saying he didn't fill the tank. This is false. My husband didn't sign anything since they were closed and we did exactly what we were told to do. They are refusing to give us a refund and are scamming us. I will never use them again and I will make sure everyone I know, knows that Penske and this location try to scam people any way they can. read more

Just don't. It's not worth your trouble, even if you save a bit of money and in our case, a few miles of driving to Apres Party Rental. I tried corresponding via email with Reddy Rents using their "contact us" form. That was useless- I received no reply. After 3 days I emailed the contact address and did get a reply but it was like pulling teeth to get an actual estimate. So, I called to get an estimate. I decided to make the reservation- I called back around 3 weeks ahead of our event and reserved 3 tables and 24 folding chairs. Fast forward to today, the day ahead of our event. I called to ask if we could pick our reservation up a day early (as I'd been advised by the rep that I could since it was a weekend rental). The rep was the same person I'd spoken with when making my reservation. He completely lacked self-awareness and had no customer service skills. He tried to tell me that picking up my reservation a day early would increase my rental cost and I pointed out that it was a weekend rental (straight price) and that he had told me when I made the reservation that I could choose to pick it up Friday instead of Saturday if I called first. When my husband went to pick everything up, they claimed to not have any record of the reservation. My husband insisted we had made a reservation but regardless, they had the items available. Why even give us a hard time about a reservation if you had rentals available? Isn't the point of operating a business to make money? The customer service is enough to keep me from going back there again and I hope this review saves you the trouble too! Update: On Saturday, the day of our event, they called to ask if we were still planning to pick up our reservation. Yeah, the reservation they told us they had no record of the day before. I explained we had already picked it up on Friday and in fact had also already RETURNED it. He laughed and said there must have been a mix up. I make mistakes all the time, but I apologize. I'm neither amused nor impressed and I won't be back. read more

If you need rental equipment really bad, we have a really bad rental company. I have never had an issue with renting equipment at Mendards, Home Depot or my local hardware store but this place is ridiculous. I rented a 100 foot snake. When I rented it I paid for a damage waiver, which is a joke. When I returned the snake it was cleaned and on time but, I told them the bit that was originally attached came out when I retrieved it and remained in my drain. They said if I had returned the bit damaged I would not have to pay a fee but since it was not retrieved my waiver insurance would not apply and I had to pay for the part. I asked him how I go about doing this when I could not do so with their equipment. It is 100 foot cable! He asked me why I was "b--ing" when the part is only $17. I asked him the same. He did this all while talking to me the entire time with a face mask placed just below his nose. read more

These guys are my GO TO rental company in town. Brian and Dot are the best... their sons work there too. Always so friendly, they always hustle to get me what I need when I need it. I've rented mostly trucks, but they're good for the occasional mower, drain snake, or floor sander too. Their prices are fair and their service is top notch. There's always someone to help remove or load your car/truck if what you're renting is a little heavy. I'm about to move out of the neighborhood, but I know I'll make a special trip back just to give my business to these guys. read more

Rented a moving truck from them. They argued about it being full of gas or not. Then when we tried to get a picture of the gauge they had all ready filled it way past full. Charged us for the overfill. Yelling at the customer is Never good for busniess! A con job if i ever seen one. Be very careful with them if you rent anything from them. read more

I have rented trucks from many locations and I have never had an experience remotely as good. I rented a truck from Penske and they handled the exchange perfectly. Great service, however on my most recent move I was the last to pick up a truck in the size I ordered and ended up with one that was substantially worse than the others... to be expected, I guess? I rented a carpet dryer and a wet/dry vac. I didn't realize I couldn't use the wet/dry vac to get water out of a wet carpet, and when I told them it didn't work for me, they took the charge off my bill. They take care to ensure I know how equipment works before I leave their shop and are quick to share tips to make the job easier. I've used them for years and would recommend them to anyone. I rented a 15 foot truck for 1 day. I put 11 miles on it and returned it after hours, leaving the key and gas receipt for 2 gallons of gas in the drop through slot after hours. I then noticed 2 weeks later that my credit card was charged an additional $30 over an above the rental amount. I called and they said they charged me $30 because they said they had to put in 5 gallons of gas in the truck to fill it up. I said NO WAY, I filled it up and dropped off the receipt with the key. They checked the contract and said they couldn't find my gas receipt, but since I did only put 11 miles on the truck they would credit back the $30 to my card. JEEZ, this is no way to do business. read more

I rented a 3KW generator for 3 days. When I picked the unit up, they informed me, the engine would shut off if the oil level was too low. They were supposed to provide a quart of oil just in case it ran out. They didn't have any oil and were ok with sending me without any, but a worker found a dirty left over bottle with a couple of ounces left. When I returned the generator, I forgot the oil bottle. The owner/manager's wife was going to charge me for a full quart. When I protested, she told me she wouldn't take abuse from me. Huh?! Ok then. She won't take feedback and I don't appreciate rudeness and being overcharged. If you're okay with rudeness and paying more than you should, you might be ok with this place.
