I contacted this company through Yelp to remove a single palm tree from my front yard. The owner, Ezra, messaged me quickly with a quote that seemed reasonable. I asked for a copy of his WC insurance informantion and he provided that promptly. He wanted my address which I sent to him and said that the soonest he would be able to come by would be the following day. He went on to say that I would hear from another individual to schedule the job. After my text messages with him I discussed with my wife as we had previously agreed to remove the tree. When I told her that we were on for having it removed, she decided that she wanted to wait. Ok, I said. I figured I would hear from the scheduler and tell them the job was off. We live in a gated community and the next morning, around 9am, I receive a notification that a contractor had entered the community for our house. We were supposed to have another contractor there that day so I thought it was them. I was in my garage and my wife comes out to and says there's a big truck pulling into the driveway. The other contractor doesn't have a big truck, so something was not right. I opened the garage and parked in the driveway is the crew from Red Gator! I was pretty suprised to see them since I never actually scheduled with them. The main guy greets meet and says they are here to do the job. My response was that we had changed our mind and that I had never scheduled with them. The first thing he asks is "why?". I tell him my wife wanted to wait on the job even though I shouldn't have to provide a response to that question. His next statement is, "well, that's going to be problem. We better call Ezra". I have to be honest, at that point I'm feeling pretty wierd about the whole thing. The driver of the truck is shooting me nasty looks and the guy I'm speaking with, although very polite, seems pretty intent on cutting down the tree. I caved and said "ok, go ahead and cut it down". I asked them NOT to stump grind it so they adjusted the price accordingly. To be fair, the person I was speaking with was also the guy who did the actual cutting. He was efficient and there weren't any issues with the job, per se. When they were done, he rang my doorbell and we inspected the job. I paid them through Zelle and they left. I contacted the owner, Ezra, and conveyed the information to him above. He issued an apology for the scheduler not reaching out to me and said that they had arrived at my doorstep by mistake. I'm not sure how truthful that is but he did offer to cut the bill in half. I did not accept the offer. To be honest, the issue here isn't the money or the tree. It's the interactions between his crew and myself. I would not recommend them. read more

Needed my mesquite tree trimmed so I called a arborist to take a look. Owner arrived, took pictures and did a voice recording of what he wanted cut for his worker to do the following week. When the worker showed up he asked me what I wanted cut. I said the owner took pics and should have given you voice instructions on what his recommendations were. Work said he could understand/hear the recordins so again asked me what branches needed to be cut. Since the arborist & worker have horrible communication skills & I'm not an expert at tree trimming I dont trust that I received the proper tree trimming? I received several quotes to replace an overgrown tree in my front yard and refresh the rock bed, and while they weren't the cheapest, I chose them because they have an arborist on staff and were consistently responsive. So full disclosure: I have not actually had Ezra or RedGator do actual work for me. BUT: I still am offering up this five-star review based on my interaction with him and his company. I had some tree issues that needed to be addressed (tldr, a dead pine needed to go.) I solicited bids from maybe a half-dozen companies. I ended up not using RedGator for various reasons (having more to do with the company I chose vs anything negative about RedGator.) But here's the thing: Even though I didn't use Ezra, he actually said great things about the company I chose, and offered a whole bunch of other advice about my tree situation and trees in general. He not only knows his stuff, but he has respect for his peers and colleagues in the business vs. trying to trash talk or undercut them. Decided to call to confirm appt and provide my cell phone as there is not a doorbell on our gate yet (under construction). Ended up speaking with Ezra who was incredibly RUDE. Decided to go with Red Gator as they have good reviews and have a licensed Arborist. Arborist arrived reasonably on time and communicated his arrival time. He took a look at my Palo Verde tree in my courtyard. I told him what I needed and he also made some recommendations which is what I was hoping for. He went to work and about 30 minutes later he was done. It isn't that big, yet. I was very happy with his work and will follow up with him as this tree grows fast. The neighbor across the street had two palm trees removed by a three man crew today, Thursday 4/17/25. I can't comment on that part of the job, but the mess that the removal of the trees left was picked up by the crew only in front of the homeowners property, leaving debris blowing up the street. I walked over to one of the crew and pointed out the mess they were leaving behind, plainly visible in the street, next door, and across the street. The guy said "don't worry, the wind will carry it away". It would have taken one of them two minutes to gather up the debris in the area adjacent to the job. When I noted the neighbor returning after the job, she saw the mess left by the crew and went out and picked up herself! Very unprofessional. read more
