I knew what to expect because I had attended a gong bath many years ago. That experience had me falling asleep, experiencing synaesthesia, seeing explosions of light, color and sound, as well as feeling very peaceful and relaxed. This immersion was held in the yoga studio and was at capacity. You set down a mat, and other blankets, with feet in the direction of the gong. (This event had five sound healers and gongs). We started with some stretches and yoga. Then you lie down, palms up, legs uncrossed and listen. It's hard to describe the sound. It's deep, almost like a rumble, kinda like the cymbals, but more than just hearing, I also felt it in my pulse. With five gongs it's almost like a symphony with sounds and vibrations building on top of each other but you don't just hear it coming from the direction of your feet, it seems to be coming from every direction, immersing you in vibration. At this point I went in and out of sleep and certain sounds made my limbs twitch. One certain sound seemed to jolt me awake and I saw yellow or green pops of color (my eyes were closed). After that, I started to get restless and could not stay still and needed to stretch. I think at that point I had enough and it was maybe 10 minutes more (the total gong portion was 75 min?). I felt very tired (perhaps extremely relaxed?) and calm, my eyes were tearing (???), and we then had a short deep breathing and meditation. The gong practitioners were lovely, beautiful souls who promoted peace and healing. I felt at peace and in a more refreshed state of mind than when I started. I would attend another of these events but next time I would bring more blankets.

Exercise Coach provides a unique type of exercise focused on muscle strengthening through slow concentrated motions. For me, it's perfect since my knees are quite terrible. Running is not an option. The trainers are patient and motivate you to achieve the maximum your body allows you to. There's absolutely no pressure through their training and after your 20 minute workout, your body feels like you've been at the gym for an hour. I'm still debating if I'll continue with the program after my Groupon runs out but there's nothing but price that would stop me.

My hesitation is with the staff. I'm not sure the trainers are all actually certified. I've worked the past few sessions with one trainer who truly does not know the answers to basic questions. My sister who is also a trainer was appalled to hear some of the responses I received to my questions. As a Groupon, it's definitely worth it, but I would never pay their normal prices. It is REALLY expensive and again, I'm concerned by the quality of the trainers. Fortunately, since the machines do most of the work, I don't feel I'm putting myself in harm with the uneducated trainer.

She is very focused on her job which is to give the client the best training session possible based on their needs and abilities that particular day. Jenny is always on time, and gently coaxes my mom to do more and work harder while being very cognizant of my mom's limitations (which can change from session to session) and making sure my mom does not get injured. Jenny is also very open to suggestions on modifying the training sessions based on updated goals. She is a great communicator and very kind to my mother as well. Jenny has trained my mom's caregivers to do specific exercises on the other four days of the week so that my mom can continue to increase her strength, balance and ability to walk for longer and longer stretches on her own without assistance. My mom's physical abilities and strength have improved since having Jenny as her trainer. We had another trainer for several years however Jenny has been much better at achieving positive results for my mom. We highly recommend Jenny as a personal fitness trainer!

Not only is she great at her job, she is also one of the kindest, most generous people you'll ever meet. Jenny genuinely cares about you and will do everything she can to help you accomplish your fitness goals. I can't imagine going on this journey with anyone other than Jenny. I recommend her 100%. One session with her and you'll be hooked---I guarantee it!

The hours are extremely flexible being open from 4am-12am most days of the week and I really love that they have a big kids club for parents to be able to have childcare during their workouts. All the staff I've interacted with have always been very polite. Now for the not so good. Most hours of the day, this place is crowded. Certain machines that are extremely popular are very hard to get access to which requires me to wait around for the machine I need. I also get approached numerous times by people asking me how many sets I have left or if they can work in with me. There are a lot of people in their late teens/very early 20s that use this gym as a social club. They will utilize the machines together and stay on for over 30 minutes not allowing other members to have a turn. A lot of people do not wipe their equipment and there seems to be no signage or enforcement to encourage people to do so. I have also noticed that weights don't get put back in the correct spaces or at all in some cases with a few wobbly weight benches and divots in the floors next to the weight racks that you can easily trip in. I love the recovery room and red light therapy but I really wish that yoga was a part of the regular membership instead of requiring an upgrade. The locker room doesn't provide hair dryers, towels or any hygienic items as other gyms do. I'm continuing to use Vasa as of now, but I'm keeping my options open for other gyms in the area that would be less crowded.
