A person in the restaurant mentioned good service from VIP, and the Yelp reviews looked good, so I called them up. There was some difficulty communicating my location, but the call taker was courteous and asked questions like would I be inside or out (it was raining and hot, so in), whether I wanted a text or call when the cab was within 5 min, (call) and then provided an estimate of 20 min. I did get a call when the cab was on its way and it arrived in less than 20 min. My driver was Deryl S. and he was very polite and knew where my apartment complex was. We had a good conversation how different taxi companies have taken different strategies while merging into larger groups. VIP if I remember what Deryl said correctly was primarily in Chicago, bought several other more national chains and owned and maintained all their vehicles (one reason the cabs look older is because they have been well maintained, are well built and paid for). Other companies have borrowed heavily and their success will depend on them keeping up on their loan payments. We also talked about Uber and some of the other non-traditional "taxies", but both agreed they don't have proper livery insurance or driving credentials, so one is taking on a lot more risk with those companies and will find out at the worst time (after a bad accident). Deryl dropped me off at my apartment and I enjoyed the option of paying by credit card which I know most services offered as well. Highly recommend Deryl S. and VIP as a full service, fully insured taxi option.

Nothing really to complain about, it was a cab ride and the cab was clean. However when my friend went to pay with a $20 he told her he had no change. Really? None at all? Driven to two different *wrong* addresses, then driven *back* to *first* wrong address before the driver *finally* used *my* app to locate the *correct* address. *Then* the driver insisted on calling my cousin to be *guided in*! I was charged the *additional* cost for that wandering ride--plus the *additional* tip percentage I calculated from that--the entirety of which they refused to refund! I was *over* 1/2 an hour late for a 5:00-7:15 PM dinner with my cousin--whom I hadn't seen in *seven* years--before I had to leave for the airport. So I ended up being *charged* $41.65--to *waste* precious time and inflict added *stress*--on what was *supposed* to be a $22.97 fare! On *top* of which, I had to have my cousin's *wife* drive me on my return trip--to catch my plane, which they had already started boarding by the time I *ran* there--because my *return* LYFT driver *never found* the place at all, but charged *me* for that too!
