this service is terrible, myself I've tried using VIP as we have used it many times after our vehicle was in the car accident and totaled. when my husband was still alive (only 8 months ago) he used it frequently, there was one guy that drove him around, but took advantage of his dementia and being elderly. my husband.. he came home one day and told me he owed him up to $400! the young man had been keeping a tab for him then I tried, it was of course different drivers after my husband passed away, I went out to dinner and needed to take a cab as I have no one, family here. my cognitive abilities our spot on! however trying to get home was a different story. when the driver showed up he looked at me in the wheelchair, said, "I'm canceling" yes, the driver said that! then he sped off. the waiters and manager of the restaurant called another company service for me. So, I took a vip cab from Tucson airport to my home . The average cost when using uber is $38-45 . I recently took a cab , same route, picked random cab , charge was $40 plus I gave a $10 tip . Today I paid $62.50 with VIP , plus I gave the driver a $10 tip because he did his job and I'm not an ass. So $72.50 for at most should be around $50. I let the driver know how pissed I was . Do not use this service if you need to get somewhere on time. I booked a day ahead of time, called 10 minutes after the time I scheduled and was told nothing was available. I asked for an estimate of how long it would be, and they didn't know. They said when a vehicle was available, only then would they give me an estimate. At the point of 25 minutes late, I had no estimate of when they would even be going toward my location. I called an Uber and that arrived in 6 minutes. 0 stars if possible. read more

The VIP driver did not accept their $5.00 discount card given on long rides saying the card was not valid because his taxi cab number was not on. I called VIP customers line and complained about the driver requesting a $5 refund to honor their own VIP discount card. Never received it. read more

Today was my first ride in a VIP taxi in Tucson. I was very impressed with my driver Troy. He got me to my doctors appointment on time, even though we had to take a detour when an accident shutdown the roadway. Troy was very courteous and professional. I was astounded as the high price for the ride to my book group here in Tucson! Otherwise, the ride was uneventful and pleasant.

I used the app to book a ride ahead. Driver, Tariq, was wonderful. Prompt, pleasant, good driver. I only removed a star because I was double charged. I had prepaid through the app but the driver couldn't see that so I had to pay again at my destination just because I didn't have time to argue with him in a drop off zone. Then he wasn't able to print a receipt for me. I would use them again, but am wary about prepaying for sure. read more

It's common for a person who is doing business with a company as their customer to want and expect a top-notch customer experience or at lest the best the company could possibly provide. But when a situation occurs and something happens to ruin the entire experience which could have all been prevented is where I draw the line. It was September 16, 2020 around 6:45 pm, my boyfriend just got off from a long day at work and I had just got done walking a fair distance from an interview I had to his work. Our original plan was to take the bus all the way home which would of been a total of three buses. We were both extremely tired and wanted to get home as soon as possible. So my boyfriend decided to get an estimation from the VIP Taxi app to see if we had enough money to order one. The VIP Taxi app said it would be approximately $17.09 to get home which we were able to afford. He booked the Taxi non the app and a minute or two later he received a text message stating that we were assigned Taxi #181 and our drivers name was Patti which will be arriving in 18 minutes. The message also asked him to reply with a 1 to confirm or a 9 to cancel, we confirmed it. A good amount of time had past, our taxi should of been there already. We clicked the link in the text message to see where Patti was at and came to find out that she was sitting at a gas station and still sat there for about another five to eight minutes which yes was a bit irritating but it's whatever. Finally, our taxi arrived. She parked on the opposite end of the shopping strip so we walked to her. Once we entered the taxi she asked us where she was taking us too. After she had entered our destination in maps she asked if we were paying with cash or card and continued on informing us that we're paying with cash we will have to pay a cash deposit of $20 and if we re paying with a card we would need to pay a flat rate of $20 before she will drive anywhere. We were both tired, our feet hurt, and even though we never heard of doing this we said screw it and informed her we were paying with a card and told her that I have a key chain to receive $2.00 off. Once she knew that she leaned to the back and clicked flat rate on the payment portal and typed in $18.00 then told me to go ahead and pay. When I tried using my VIP Taxi gift card, it declined for one and for two she I couldn't use it because that would be trying to use two different types of discounts. So I pulled out my bank card instead but it also got declined even though I just used it less than two hours ago and had no issues. At that point, my boyfriend and I looked at one another and without even saying a word got out of the taxi and headed back to the bus stop. Now that you know the back story and the situation, I can explain the problem, if you haven't already figured it out. First things first, I have never once had to pay a deposit before even getting taken anywhere. The only time I had to pay a deposit was when I was doing a round trip and the taxi driver had to wait for me but that's different and understandable. But never have I once had to pay a taxi cab driver before we even drove anywhere. And come to find out this isn't the first time. My boyfriend told me that one day after work she made him pay her $20 in cash before she took him anywhere. I know I had money in my bank account because I checked it before ordering a cab. So for it to decline my card was complete bullshit. Patti made it seem as if my boyfriend and I were poor and made us feel like pieces of shit. If I ever have to order a cab again and I get a message saying cab #181 has been assigned and my cab driver is Patti, I am canceling it. Patti makes people feel horrible and all we wanted to do was go home, it was a long day but because of this cab driver we didn't get home until 9 o'clock at night. I would of more rather give this review zero stars but yelp makes me choose at least one. So there you have it, my review on VIP Taxi and why I was one very unhappy customer that day! read more

I booked a ride with VIP when NO medical transport companies in Tucson would get back to me about non-emergency transport to a surgical center for a procedure. I made it very clear to VIP I needed the taxi at 6 a.m., and that this concerned actual surgery, so time really was vital. VIP confirmed the time. Two-minutes before the scheduled pickup, VIP texted to say my taxi would arrive in 10-15 minutes, and they'd send me a tracking link. They sent no tracking link. I asked for it. They ignored me. The taxi was almost 20 minutes late collecting me for SURGERY, which affects the entire surgical staff as well as my surgeon. Needless to say, I will not be using this "small, family-owned business" again. Unprofessional, unreliable, and probably don't give a rat's patootie that they're receiving a poor review. We ordered a van/taxi for 6 via the online portal and had to call multiple times after the requested pick up. 30 mins after the requested time, not only did they send a sedan for 6 people (which technically only seats 3) but when I called to verify what the mix up was, the dispatch took no accountability for their mess up. I used to think VIP was the best cab company in Tucson (which is why I'm still willing to give them 2 stars, though I'm thoroughly disgusted, lately). But their customer service has dropped off BIG in the past couple of years. I gave them all kinds of benefit of the doubt during the height of COVID, thinking maybe people didn't want to drive because of the pandemic. Now, however, the average wait time on a cab at NON-PEAK hours can be HOURS (currently waiting on a cab home from the grocery with PERISHABLES... Have been waiting for a cab for the past TWO HOURS!), and their dispatch people refuse to give estimates on how long it'll be, just tossing out "we don't have any cabs in that area." When I BOOKED the cab, it showed there were several cabs on the streets all around the area. Suddenly, there's nothing? For HOURS? Come on, VIP, get it together. If I had any other options (I'm reliant on cabs because I can no longer drive due to medical issues, and there are no bus stops near enough to get to my home inside of the distance I'm allowed to walk) than taking a cab, I would be doing it. I used to be so impressed by your reliability. These days, I'm just disgusted by your lack thereof, and your lack of any attempt at adequate customer service. read more

My car is broken down and I needed to get a ride to a couple of different places to run important errands. All the other taxi services seemed too difficult to engage. The lady at VIP explained everything very well, and quoted a price (not including the wait fee by the driver, while I was conducting my business.) And she was spot on with that pricing. The driver they sent, was an extremely pleasant and kind driver...named TROY. He was such a gentleman (had to help me click my seatbelt into place)...and a great conversationalist. I inadvertently left my cell phone in his car...and, although he could have just returned it to the office lost and found...he responded to the calls my cousin made to dispatch,on my behalf...and he returned it to me personally. As a result of this experience, I shall always call VIP Taxi in the future...and I will see if they will let me request TROY as my driver. Excellent company and exemplary service! He went "above and beyond" in every way to make sure I got to my destinations -- and was totally reliable while picking me up and dropping me back at my hotel. They called us five minutes before the pick-up time to say they don't have any vehicles with baby seats available and they will not send anyone! We almost lost our flight! Recently I had to wait forever for another cab company to show up and ended up having to cancel because I missed my appointment. So, when I discovered myself suddenly without transport to an important meeting yesterday I looked up cab reviews on yelp and noticed that overall VIP had reasonable reviews. The problem was I only had a recently purchased cell phone on me. I was startled and dismayed to receive this automated answer: "We are sorry, but due to a high number of cancellations or no-shows, this profile is unable to book with VIP Taxi. If you'd like to request a review. . . call during business hours. . ." They did provide a number to call, but when you are needing a cab NOW, you don't have time to play games with an unknown profile. Doesn't this business realize that phone numbers change, especially in the age of cell phones??? At least let me talk to a person and let the person ask for my name and address before assuming this phone number isn't a good bet. On any given day I do not have time to waste time on a company's website begging to update a profile that never had anything to do with me, but a recycled phone number. Needless to say, I quickly called another cab service and got to my destination in time and gave a good tip to the driver. VIP lost a good-tipping customer. read more

Roy was the best! He drove out to the Desert Museum and took us to the airport. He was early, gave us interesting facts about Tucson, more about the beautiful Saguaros, and had some nuggets about the local Air Force base and the aviation boneyard. I needed a ride from midtown to Casas Adobes and needed it within 15-20 minutes. I tried calling Discount Cab (I like that they use a lot of Priuses), but they couldn't meet the time requirements. A person in the restaurant mentioned good service from VIP, and the Yelp reviews looked good, so I called them up. There was some difficulty communicating my location, but the call taker was courteous and asked questions like would I be inside or out (it was raining and hot, so in), whether I wanted a text or call when the cab was within 5 min, (call) and then provided an estimate of 20 min. I did get a call when the cab was on its way and it arrived in less than 20 min. My driver was Deryl S. and he was very polite and knew where my apartment complex was. We had a good conversation how different taxi companies have taken different strategies while merging into larger groups. VIP if I remember what Deryl said correctly was primarily in Chicago, bought several other more national chains and owned and maintained all their vehicles (one reason the cabs look older is because they have been well maintained, are well built and paid for). Other companies have borrowed heavily and their success will depend on them keeping up on their loan payments. We also talked about Uber and some of the other non-traditional "taxies", but both agreed they don't have proper livery insurance or driving credentials, so one is taking on a lot more risk with those companies and will find out at the worst time (after a bad accident). Deryl dropped me off at my apartment and I enjoyed the option of paying by credit card which I know most services offered as well. Highly recommend Deryl S. and VIP as a full service, fully insured taxi option. read more

Do NOT use this company if you want to be somewhere at a certain time or if you are in a hurry. I booked a taxi 24 hours in advance to get me to the Phoenix airport shuttle so I didn't have to park my car there for 6 days, and it didn't show up. I called at the time they were supposed to be there and was told I would "get a text message." Ten minutes later, I called again and was told that they "were still waiting on a driver." Now I'm late, so I had to jump in my car and drive over to the shuttle lot anyway and almost missed the shuttle to Phoenix. Spend the extra money and use an Uber or Lyft. read more

NO Stars. 100% FAIL, and that is after giving them a second chance. Someone has to do something amazingly wonderful or completely so godawful that I am livid, before I will even come here, so... Here you go... LIVID. First off, I had been using Lyft, when a friend got a great job, that started prior to buses running in the city, but had experienced a couple of times that they had not showed up, so I decided to try V.I.P. so that there would be no stress. BIG MISTAKE. The first time, the app somehow didn't charge my credit card (I know, NOW, that is because there is a $30 minimum, if app is used) And my friend had no cash. I climbed over that hurdle, even though the company was really at fault, here, after a few hours of discussion with a very condescending and unapologetic young lady, by lending my friend some cash, directly from the BofA atm, for any future wrinkle. 1. App wants access to ALL MY phone's contacts. 2. Minimum $30 charge when paying via app and credit card. 3. Rude drivers who will call and scream at credit card holder, and lock passenger in car, if they don't have cash. (When this happened, they would not take another credit card over the phone, and did not know, themselves, that the charge had to exceed $30.) 4. When angered that they would be paid in cash, but not tipped because of the fiasco, ACCUSED PASSENGER OF USING FAKE MONEY, then claimed that dispatch was calling the credit card user, told credit card user that they were taking $40 from passenger, and told their own company that they got only $28, which was the fare. 5. When I called, the supervisor claimed that driver was "veteran driver" and knew fake money when he saw it, that the bill had no face and ink splotches and that they should have called the police on my friend. They should have, because any blow back on my friend's job, would have then been the reason for me to hire an attorney. I was told that there was video footage, which would be reviewed at 9 a.m. and that all calls were recorded. I was told management would call me asap. 6. I've been ignored, since. I've actually not even spoken to my friend about this, yet, as i think that they have already been through enough on this subject, and they are the kind of person who just moves on. I could hear them in the background, during the screaming, trying to make sense of the horrendous situation and being super polite and patient. I don't know if they ended up paying $28 or $40 for the freak show, but the driver told me that it was $40... just prior to hanging up on me, so... It really is moot. He's a liar, didn't know the company's ridiculous minimum $30 fare rule, (which, again, could have been over-ridden by adding a $2 tip) and unstable, AND this company backed him all the way. I have now been berated and verbally abused by a bullying stranger, and a "family owned company". I was shaken, and I wasn't even the one in the car, or the direct object of the uncontrolled and misplaced rage of the person who would then, I suspect, turn right around and drive someone else somewhere. I asked the supervisor on duty when I CALLED HIM, how he would feel if someone he loved had been treated this way. It was the first time he didn't answer flippantly. I sincerely wish I had read some of the other reviews, prior to using this company. But, usually, this is, sadly, a last resort, though I will be calling the better business bureau, just to let them know how unprofessional, insulting and potentially dangerous, the support of such a driver, is, and how the customer was treated, in regards to being charged for such abuse. I also read the copy and paste responses, whether reviews were good or bad, so I don't expect any change. Avoid this company. Let cabs die, as I guess they should. Use another option. If i started out wanting to pay to be screamed at and humiliated, ripped off and lied to and about, and have someone send a friend into a new, stressful job, all a jumble, then i would give V.I.P. five stars from driver to dispatch to supervisor to management. read more
