Redman Towing never towed or stored my car, yet still filed a lien -- blatantly violating state law that requires notice and actual possession. That's a blatant violation of state law, which requires 7 business days and 15 days' notice, and only applies when a vehicle is actually towed or held. They did neither. Instead of providing a service, their "computer systems made a mistake" with paperwork that threatened me with an unlawful lien. While the lien was eventually removed. It should have never been placed in the first place--if they followed prescribed Virginia Law. They're too blinded by profit to the point they can't ensure proper management controls are in place to prevent "mistakes" from happening in the first place. I would hate to see what would have happened if we were on an extended vacation and didn't find a letter from DMV that said a lien was placed on our vehicle. Just send my personal property to auction? This is predatory, unprofessional, and unlawful. Avoid Red Man Towing at all costs. There are too many better reviewed companies to use. read more

I was riding with my friend to pick up his box truck that the cops had pulled over on 9/2/25. The driver of the truck had a suspended license. A Redman tow truck was heading to the scene as well. The tow truck was behind us. He tailgated us aggressively, crossed a double yellow line and passed us but didn't have room to get over because of the car in front of us. So he ran us off the road. Then he ran the car in front of us into a ditch. We arrived at the scene right behind him and he charged my buddy $1000 to not tow the box truck. Biggest A$$hole in the business. read more

In the middle of a giant move from MA to NC, we had a pretty traumatic highway accident, with my two kids and two dogs now stranded and no vehicle. Redman not only got our car off the highway quickly, they took such good care of ALL of us afterward -- candy for the kids, treats for the dogs, coffee for me. Stay away from them, if the Arlington Police uses them, shame on them for such a rip off. The worst company in the world!!! They are completely, "You will do it our way, or we don't care." They will not help in any way. They charge prices that are criminally high, the worst value one could find. Their service is terrible. When they towed our daughter's car from the accident, they unnecessarily did more damage to the car. When we tried to help our daughter and get the car moved to a location that would not charge $85 per day for storage, they refused to take payment unless we came in person. My guess is that Credit Card companies get too many complaints about them being thieves, so they have to have physical signatures to avoid chargebacks. Aside from the high towing cost ($360) and storage fees ($82/day), our interaction with Redman's staff was professional, pleasant, and helpful. We appreciated the positive interaction we had with Patricia and Victoria. They helped us through an otherwise stressful time even providing us with time-saving tips on using DMV's online service. 5 stars for Patricia, Victoria, and the organization of the Alexandria location. Call redman fleet services and spoke with Patricia about towing a freightliner truck for me from copart auction in DC to lorton Va (about an hour distasnce) and they asked me to send pictures. I emailed them pictures and they quoted me $1000 which is not cheap but still i wanted to go ahead with it. I asked her to fill out their company information as a transporter on the copart app to schedule the pick up and she said she has no time to do that. I said ok i will do it on your behalf if you wouldn't mind giving me a couple of minutes on the phone to take your company information. She was laughing at me in a demeaning way and said that she has a million other things to do. I said ok well clearly you don't have time for me or want my business and hung up. It seems they deal with big fleet companies and don't have time for the a small business but at least it would be important to be respectful and be clear that you don't work with small companies. I wouldn't recommend them for a big or a small company because clearly they have horrible customer service and a lack of respect for people. Car got towed to Redman's lot. The driver left the key in the ignition and in the on position while it was on their lot. When we went to retrieve the car, the battery was totally dead so they put in on the charger. While waiting for it to charge, the lot attendant proceeded to smoke a cigarette in the car that we had just put a brand new headliner into. For starters, the drivers should be more cognizant when dropping off vehicles. Turning off the ignition is kind of a no-brainer. As for smoking in customer vehicles... My work truck and trailer broke down on 495 yesterday. Called Redman to help us out of the bind. They arrived promptly and quickly discovered that to tow our truck, they had to take apart the drive shaft. They did so and got us out of there. Once back in Manassas, they dropped us off and left. They left the Drive Shaft broken apart. The vehicle was no longer drive able or movable. Called Redman to advise them that their driver forgot to put the drive shaft back together and that's where I was informed that I would have to pay a separate fee to have somebody to out it back together......What? I then called Gainsville Towing who I used several times in the past including today for the towing of the same truck to the mechanic. They said that if a drive shaft is taken apart, the drive shaft is out back together by the person that took it apart. Standard practice in the towing market.......I was like, Duh. If wasn't for all the extra money I have to put in to the mechanic to put my driveshaft back together, if give this company a 4 star. But because of this I am screwed with more expenses and inconveniences. Not good . read more

My husband and I called for a tow through our insurance company Geico. Since we needed the car to be parked in a specific location we asked for Geico to contact me to tell the driver where to park the vehicle. I waited around for over an hour and not the estimated 45 minutes given for the driver. When they arrived I was not contacted and they instead parked the car in the incorrect spot. At this time I had stepped away from my front door to change a load of clothes so I noticed the car parked out front when I returned upstairs. I immediately ran outside and tried to wave down the driver who proceeded to leave the scene with no regard. While hot and out of breathe for trying to run down a tow truck I immediately called the dispatcher who was extremely rude, defensive, and inconsiderate. The dispatcher had the nerve to tell me I was rude....I'm like no I'm frustrated and hot after running after your tow truck in 90 degree weather.....what do you expect? I even asked her if she could dispatch the driver back since he just pulled off....but no that would require her to go out of her way to assist a customer! So with her lack of empathy and customer service she instructed us to call Geico in order to have them come back to move the car. All I can say is if I ever need a tow again, I will never ever call this company or allow Geico to send them to assist me. I think it is horrible when companies take advantage of consumers who they know need their services....there is never an excuse for poor customer service! The worst customer service I've ever encountered. I find it hard to comprehend that the state of Virginia has approved this organization as a vendor. Representatives were impolite, disrespectful, and made disparaging remarks about me. I asked for an explanation of the total when I arrived to pick up my car. I was told that there is a towing fee and that you will be charged for the first day as soon as the car is on the lot. I inquired of Patricia, the clerk, about the company's definition of a day. "I already told you," she yelled. You did not, ma'am. Do you regard a day as being 24 hours long from the moment of arrival or a calendar day, with the new day beginning at midnight? She started yelling at me and never responded to my query. When I said that I wanted to speak with management, she advised me to contact them. When I dialed the number I'd used to find my car, it went straight to her workplace. "Are you calling me?" Patricia asked sarcastically while laughing. She mentioned she was in charge of each of the four locations. I was irritated by this point since I was being treated so badly for asking a clarifying question. Eventually, David, the manager, who unbeknownst to me, was sitting inside the trailer with her, allowing her to shout and make a mockery of the customer, finally comes to the window and says, "Ma'am, you're yelling like a damn Banshee," David says. I got my receipt and immediately proceeded to my car to submit a complaint with Sgt Christopher Szupinka, the state police First Line Supervisor. People hate tow truck companies. They steal your car in the middle of the night. They often have a stogie in their mouth and carry weapons. Talk about a Yelp-Nightmare. I needed on a Sunday to get my car towed. I gathered a list provided by Allstate Ins. and from a buddy in the towtruck industry who carries a weapon and a stogie in his mouth. Redman's was suggested by both. The only reason Redman's did not get a 5 star is because the lady I called did not volunteer their rates, hey to do that is Nordstrom level customer service. Scott my "wrecker guy," was prompt, stood by their rates when told they were a bit high, and with his knowlege of what he thought was wrong with my car suggested I take my car to a nearer place. In other words no up-sell approach. I even researched the route he took and it was the shortest route. He cared about possibly losing me while I followed him and did not seem impatient even when I made phone calls to my father for advise and such. I have an HRC sticker and rainbow rings in my car and whether he was ignorant or not I was treated well. I suppose it helps I know cars. Towing is never under good circumstances and I try to rise above my own personal problems when reviewing. Redman's is reccomended by my friend in the industry, my uncle, and by me. read more

The worst. They'll take your car hostage then give you a choice: pay them almost $1000 to get it back or pay them $200 to give them your car as a gift. Apparently this is legal. Then if you sign over the title, they'll fail to even report the transaction to the DMV, meaning you're still on the hook for taxes, etc. When you ask for a simple receipt, then another shakedown ensues, where you have to jump through 18 hoops and pay up again to get it. To add insult to injury, they'll instantly become verbally abusive if you try to ask them any questions or get any information. Avoid this sarlacc pit if you can. read more

I would give this place -50 stars if I could. My car had been towed by Redman one night and I went to Redman to retrieve it. The door was locked so I knocked, however the gentleman in their back area did not so much as turn around to face me. I could see that he was gathering his belongings to leave, so I knocked louder to try to get his attention. He still did not acknowledge my presence, so I ended up banging on the door. After several minutes, another man stumbled up from the sofa where he was watching tv barefoot and opened the door, saying "What the hell do you think you're doing?". I tried to explain that the first gentleman was the only one in sight, and I was trying to get his attention before he left as I thought he was closing the shop. This new gentleman did not want to hear it, and spent the rest of the time CURSING AT ME and CALLING ME STUPID. I have a video of my interactions with this man and it is incredibly unpleasant. Never in my life have I been treated so poorly. I have tried to contact the manager of Redman to report this man but after calling, leaving voicemails, and sending emails, I still have not received an apology. I was informed as soon as I got into the tow truck cab that it was $300 for towing and $3 per mile after we left. Although my car was drivable it had to be removed from the highway so the state trooper went through the tow company that va used which is Redman ... I got to the lot only for them to charge me 375 for transporting my car and holding it for 30min. We have a late model car that you would never expect any problems out of, so the fact that we had to have our car towed AT ALL was sort of a salty experience. But the electrical system went haywire and locked the car up completely. My husband said "call Redman.. they are the best." The guy on the phone said 45 mins but the tow truck driver showed up in 15. The care he took to get our car on the car hauler was so appreciated yet unexpected. I watched as he circled the car numerous times to make sure everything was going perfectly. You could tell he was a real expert. He took care of the drop off at the dealership so we could go home (it was late at night). As a general rule, I dislike towing companies for obvious reasons. I think them and the county both have an unfair relationship. However- Redmans is better than most. My vehicle was towed for parking tickets that I couldn't pay because I got them while I was stuck in Hurricane Maria and it was towed by the time I returned. However, I appreciate that Redmans towing at least knocked off the Admin fee, and seemed understanding. That's still better than most towing companies, so they have my appreciation on that. read more

If I could give 0 stars to this towing company, I would. My car was in an accident where the other driver was at fault. The police officer called Redman Fleet Services to pick up the car and I handed my key over to the driver. The insurance company of the other company used a separate towing company to take the car from Redman's lot to the auto body shop. A day later, I received a call from the auto body shop letting me know that somehow the key to my car was never turned in. After several phone calls and requests for both companies to look for the key to my car (which is their responsibility to keep track of!), it took the second towing service actually going to Redman's place of business for these incompetent individuals to find my car key. All of this took a week. A week. Within this week, the only response I received from Redman's was "The other towing service company must have lost it." No one bothered to look for the key at all until ANOTHER towing service demanded that Redman's look for it. The service I received was extremely unprofessional, unhelpful, and much more concerned with shifting the blame than helping a customer with a problem CAUSED by the company itself. I posted a review on this business and I see that It has been taken down! My motorcycle was towed in on Saturday morning at 6 am and I picked it up Monday at 9pm. I was charged with a processing fee. Their paperwork clearly states that they record the lien once your vehicle is at their location for 72 hrs. My motorcycle was not there for 72 hrs. I was charged a $125 fee. When I was calling to see how much it would cost to pick up my motorcycle I was told it would be $200 plus $50 per day. I should of been charged $300 max not the $425 that I ended up paying. My wife and I picked up multiple nails on I-95 which completely shredded our tire on a Saturday. With only about 2 feet of shoulder, there was no way to change the tire safely on the highway, necessitating a tow truck. Our insurance contacted Redman's who dispatched Joel to our location. From the time we contacted our insurance to the time he was picking us up was less than 30 minutes. He had our car up on a flatbed in under 5 and was a constant professional.
