Three hangers in the "King" room
    Jordan S.

Called reception to say there was no hand soap and she said "use the body wash in the shower". Really?? The sad part is that I tried and found the body wash was out. This room, price, and customer service is the lowest of lows. Avoid this place at all costs. The "king" room is a joke. I paid $190 for one night in a room where there is NO body wash, NO hand soap, NO cups with the ice bucket (or anywhere in the kitchen for that matter), NO ironing board, NO hair dryer, NO coffee?? Hangers are missing, too. Do yourself a favor and pay a little more for a better place to stay.

Dirty shower with old hair dried to the wall

Absolutely filthy. Smell of bleach hits you in the face but they obviously don't clean because the first thing we see is a glob of dried hair stuck to the shower wall. That's not even the worst part... sat on the bed for maybe 3 min while we decide what to do after seeing that and suddenly my leg is itchy... a bite. We got out of there so fast. Thank god we didn't open our luggage. Who knows what gross pest souvenirs I'd have brought home

So disgusting! I came in and there is literally poop on the floor! No weather stripping on the door, place under construction so hammering and banging heard all morning, dirty towels folded up as if they are clean. Manager was no help! Refused to refund. It seems to be a family owned business, they are foreign, so of course I was blamed for the dirtiness.

The positives: We rented the "romance spa suite". It was $411.00 for 2 nights in which wasn't horrible. What drew me in was the large jacuzzi tub and the impressive glass rain fall shower. It's roughly a 9-minute walk from the beach. you don't have to pay for parking at the beach if you're willing to walk there! It's conveniently located near a cvs, 7-11, and several restaurants. They offer both uncovered and (limited) covered parking Deeper into the complex. The covered spaces gave me peace of mind leaving my car over night because it's not visible from the street. The lighting is controlled by many different outlets and the ones near the bed are dimmable. I appreciated how customizable that made the ambiance Negatives: - The facility is not gated so anyone can come in from the street at any hour. - we found marijuana in our "clean" room. When we brought it to the attention of the girl at the front desk it seemed like she couldn't care less. - our microwave turntable was dirty. - the floor is in poor condition In some areas. - trash was left in the nightstand. - there is spider webs in various corners. The spider disappeared before I could kill it :/. - the flush buttons for the toilet are odd. it feels as though nothing wants to go down with ease. - the tv doesn't offer access to streaming services to log into. It shows options to screen mirror but it seems to not be compatible with iPhone - you can hear all kinds of loud racket from upstairs, the street, and the hall. - the door frame from our room flexes when you open and shut the door. It's tough to close and doesn't seem the most secure. - I killed at least a dozen small black bugs flying and landing in the shower. They look like gnats but I'm not 100% certain. - they don't provide a duvet / comforter. Only top sheets and a fleece blanket. The most disappointing finding was the dirty bathtub. I work in hotel house keeping at a 4 star hotel, so my expectations for cleanliness and sanitation are high. Out of paranoia I filled up the bathtub with hot water and ran the jets for several minutes. To my (not so) surprise a considerable amount of black debris was shot out of the jets. I drained the tub and repeated this process until it felt clean enough to bathe in.

This is a bug that was in the room I checked in I told the front desk people which were Indian husband and wife. They denied it and were very rude as I travel for work thought this was a great location. I will never stay here they are cheap because they're infested.

Terrible. We were given an ADA accessible room, it was late, we were tired and just went to sleep. In the morning we noticed many things wrong with this room. The faux wood floor was uneven in places, looked like it hadn't been swept and had weird stains; the curtains needed to be replaced; the closet had no door, had spackle above the shelf and a hair dryer and an iron were just thrown up there randomly. How would a disabled person reach them? I saw a roach on the nightstand and a dead spider on the floor. There was no box of tissues and no extra roll of toilet paper. The phone in the room looked like it had been dropped. There was no art on the walls, nothing. It wouldn't take a whole lot to make this room better.

This is the handy man fixing our broken door in his slides. The room smelled awful, like bleach and vomit.

If I could give this place negative stars I would. Not only is this location filthy but the customer service is equivalent to a Hostel you find at the end of a dark alley in a third world country. The elevator is broken and smells of old dry urine. The rooms smell of rotten beer and day old vomit. The family that works here is so unprofessional and disorganized. They lack the ability to understand or clearly communicate which makes being a guest here EXTREMELY frustrating. They are constantly being berated with complaints because of their inability to keep up with the needs of their guests. The doors to the rooms are broken, they ran out of hot water before 9am, and you have to hunt down the cleaners for clean towels and amenities. our refrigerator was broken and needed to be defrosted. My dad walked around picking up garbage off the stairs and around the doors of our neighboring rooms because it was attracting flies and the smell was disgusting. It was like staying in a Roadhouse Inn off Broadway in South Central. You'll feel uncomfortable sitting on the chairs and sleeping in the beds. We booked this hotel 5 years ago and had a great time. Unfortunately, under new management it is nothing more than a dirty drug/party hotel. If you don't plan on sleeping and want to stay up to drinking and snorting cocaine; this is your place! If you are looking for a place to have a good time with your family, it is will worth the extra money to find another place to stay.

They were careful in serving each guest as they navigated the room with appetizers. Dinner service was well organized. They were continually clearing tables, picking up dropped napkins and refilling drinks. The bar was the busiest where bartenders were impressively fast in fulfilling every request for drinks and cocktails. Thank you to the Portofino team! The area has several boating clubs, a few seafood restaurants, hotels and event venues, and some small bars. It is definitely a quiet area that closes up early in the evenings. The hotel itself is really very lovely, though I wouldn't call it fancy. I will start by mentioning a few things that I didn't like. First, it is really too expensive. Likely it was more expensive than usual, as we booked late and they only had suites left. Also, I didn't like that the hotel restaurant and room service stop serving food at 10. Even after the wedding, when several people tried to go to the bar, around 10:30 on a Saturday, they stopped serving drinks. Further, we arrived to check into the hotel around 10PM on Friday night and were informed that all of the restaurants in the area were closing, so we had to drive to the next town over for dinner. I guess the area this hotel is located in is a bit too quiet for my taste. I also didn't like the $49 per night valet parking, with zero self-parking. Now, on a positive note, I enjoyed the welcome drinks, which were two mini strawberry daqueries... they were actually not too sweet and quite stiff. The staff was super friendly. They were always available and tried to be helpful. Whenever we went to the lobby they would give us bottled water. In the restaurant bar, they gave us free coffee and Diet Coke to take to our room. Our room wasn't overly impressive for a suite, but it was still very pretty. I loved having a view right on the harbor walkway. It was nice to walk out of the hotel and be right on the harbor. The balcony was a lovely place to sit with coffee. They also have an outdoor bathtub right on the patio. I love when beach hotels have outdoor tubs and showers. The room was comfortable with plenty of outlets and digital color-changing lighting. It was very clean and modern. All in all, I think the hotel was more expensive than we would choose had it not been for a wedding. However, I really did enjoy my stay. It was a friendly hotel with nice views and a bit of a resort vibe.

I drove my car and had asked about parking right before we arrived. I had called and talked to the front desk manager and asked about a vase for flowers which he didn't have. I asked him if he had this a regular glass there and he said yes. The day before I arrived and because this was booked by my girlfriend's son, I didn't know the sleeping arrangements saying we needed it two beds. I called and got voicemail the day before and someone called me back about a couple hours later. I asked if there were two beds in the room and he said no there's a bed and then there is a fold out sofa. I said oh great I will take the fold out sofa and let my girlfriend take the bed. When I arrived at the hotel with my car, I didn't know where I was parking and it wasn't. The hotel is on the beach, but it's also in a very crowded area. I went in and spoke with the front desk guy. He said his name was Chris. He hurriedly explained how I could get to the parking spot and that was CF because of the instructions he gave me. After finding the parking garage, we did receive help from Chris to unload our luggage. My girlfriend is much older and I didn't allow her to carry anything so it was just me and him. We proceeded into the hotel and after we were in there... Yes, the room seemed nice and a little standard for a boutique. I immediately heard people on the floor right above us walking back-and-forth and there was no way that that was going to work out because she had traveled all the way from Denver for this and we had traveled from North Hollywood down to Hermosa Beach and.just a lot of travel, which made us weary When I asked about getting another room, which I knew it was full because it's pretty small Hotel he said he had put us on the first floor because he thought that we would not be able to climb the stairs to get to the second floor. I told him we're both able, and even though my girlfriend is older she is limber enough to climb stairs. I think he saw the concern on my face that we might leave because we hadn't unpacked anything so he did ask the people who had moved in to the top floor to switch with us. It was nice of them and they said yes we will switch. As we were getting ready for eating our food which we ordered in, I noticed there was only one wine glass and one fork. One spoon. So we managed through it for eating. As we got ready for bed, I unfolded the sofa bed and there was a huge urine stain on the mattress and now I had to find sheets. I could not find them anywhere and called the number to get help. Chris then texted me and said "I've I received many calls from you today. If it is not urgent, you could just text me and ask me. There's no need for you to call me repeatedly" Now he was inferring that I could not call him so to speak. he texted me to let me know where the sheets were. I had called him the day before and talked with him that I would be using that fold out bet. I think it was his job to point out where the sheets were when we moved into the room. I feel that because we were senior citizens we were disregarded! I asked him on text "is this how you treat senior citizens "? And I told him that I am a customer here that has paid for the room already. The next morning, the Keurig coffee maker did not work and there were only two coffee pods for both of us. Not enough I ended up at the market trying to get coffee for both of us. I didn't bother calling him about the coffee maker. I was already just too disgusted with his attitude towards. when we checked out, he was nowhere to be found.
