Called reception to say there was no hand soap and she said "use the body wash in the shower". Really?? The sad part is that I tried and found the body wash was out. This room, price, and customer service is the lowest of lows. Avoid this place at all costs. The "king" room is a joke. Absolutely filthy. Smell of bleach hits you in the face but they obviously don't clean because the first thing we see is a glob of dried hair stuck to the shower wall. It does not look as nice as the pictures, however I have to be honest... it's a family run motel and they keep it fairly clean. For location and price it is what it is. I saw no bugs which is a bonus and had no bites. Elevator is kinda scary but it works and it helps a lot so I can't complain. Parking is very convenient but there is a $9 fee you should be aware of. So, I made a reservation on Priceline. And I paid $9 extra for insurance, in case my wife was not up to the trip. So, it turns out that she did feel ill and I tried to exercise the insurance I paid for. (I am sure they pocket most of this "insurance money," since there is no issue, but in this case, I just expected a refund, no questions asked). So, step one, I called the hotel. They said call Priceline. So, I called Priceline, was on hold for 20 minutes plus, eventually a girl with a heavy accent answers and long story, short, she said that she called the hotel and they were willing to give me $80 of the $180 I spent. Maybe it's just me, but that sounds like a bad deal, considering I bought the insurance that implies I should get a 100% refund without issue. So I argued with her and ultimately, after some back and forth, she said TALK TO THE HOTEL, this is the best she could do. So, I called the manager, her name is Misty, by the way, and she was completely unhelpful. Ultimately, she said it wasn't her problem and that I needed to talk to the insurance company. She couldn't help me, though she could take my money quick enough, so it seems like something could have happened, if she wanted to keep my business. Ultimately, if you buy the insurance, it turns out that you have to waste a half an hour or more to plead your case. Now it may just be me, but if I buy the insurance, which typically doesn't matter, and the company just pockets all the money, in the rare 10% where the insurance is activated, the answer is just pay the money, I am sure you come out ahead. Here is the issue. 99% of you would assume I got a full refund and this story over. Unfortunately, I am at a point where I just get the $80 that the girl offered against the $180 I spent for the room. I wasted over an hour of my time debating with morons, and apparently, got nowhere. Big picture, I may have gotten screwed out of $100 today, but if that means that this place loses tens of thousands of dollars, so be it. That is the definition of accountability. The positives: We rented the "romance spa suite". It was $411.00 for 2 nights in which wasn't horrible. What drew me in was the large jacuzzi tub and the impressive glass rain fall shower. It's roughly a 9-minute walk from the beach. you don't have to pay for parking at the beach if you're willing to walk there! It's conveniently located near a cvs, 7-11, and several restaurants. They offer both uncovered and (limited) covered parking Deeper into the complex. The covered spaces gave me peace of mind leaving my car over night because it's not visible from the street. The lighting is controlled by many different outlets and the ones near the bed are dimmable. I appreciated how customizable that made the ambiance Negatives: - The facility is not gated so anyone can come in from the street at any hour. - we found marijuana in our "clean" room. When we brought it to the attention of the girl at the front desk it seemed like she couldn't care less. - our microwave turntable was dirty. - the floor is in poor condition In some areas. - trash was left in the nightstand. - there is spider webs in various corners. The spider disappeared before I could kill it :/. - the flush buttons for the toilet are odd. it feels as though nothing wants to go down with ease. - the tv doesn't offer access to streaming services to log into. It shows options to screen mirror but it seems to not be compatible with iPhone - you can hear all kinds of loud racket from upstairs, the street, and the hall. - the door frame from our room flexes when you open and shut the door. It's tough to close and doesn't seem the most secure. - I killed at least a dozen small black bugs flying and landing in the shower. They look like gnats but I'm not 100% certain. - they don't provide a duvet / comforter. Only top sheets and a fleece blanket. The most disappointing finding was the dirty bathtub. I work in hotel house keeping at a 4 star hotel, so my expectations for cleanliness and sanitation are high. Out of paranoia I filled up the bathtub with hot water and ran the jets for several minutes. To my (not so) surprise a considerable amount of black debris was shot out of the jets. You get what you pay for. Went for a weekend to Redondo Beach. Pros noted on check in : Reservation was online and check in went fine. The room was fairly clean. Has an elevator. The staff were nice. Air conditioning was in existence. Not the best AC I've had in a hotel but it was there and put out air that was cooler than outside. Close to the pier. Has a pool which was the main reason for booking there as it was VERY important to our son. Has WiFi and almost enough parking. Cons: I'm pretty sure that the elevator has starred in every horror movie with an elevator scene. Especially when coming down from the 3rd floor. It seems very unstable. After getting settled our son wanted to go swimming, of course. So we went to the pool. The card reader would only light red and not let us in. We went to the front desk and we were told that the pool would be available the next day. Boy oh boy was telling my child no pool today fun. Went back down the next morning to get him entertained in the pool with the same results. Card reader turned red. This time front desk said she would get someone to open it. About 10 minutes later housekeeper came by and stuck her broom over the gate to push the handle down. Ok. Whatever, we got in and he got to use the pool. But I don't care for being lied to. Also the toilet handle was on backwards, so every time it was flushed, it popped up lid and slammed it back down. At one point Saturday afternoon housekeeper and front desk both left. I was in the smoking area when they left and waited for them to come back as I had a request for the desk person. I gave up after about 30 minutes and was back down there a hour and half later when they came back. Didn't see bugs as others have said but there seems to be a lack of upkeep and/or maintenance standards. Overall, I wouldn't say that we'll never be back, but I will say that we will look pretty much anywhere else before here again. read more

I'm usually not one to leave negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share my honest thoughts about this establishment. First and foremost, cleanliness was a major issue. The moment I stepped into my room, I was greeted by an unpleasant, musty odor that never seemed to dissipate. The carpets were stained and dirty, and the bathroom left much to be desired. It was evident that the cleaning staff had not paid attention to detail, and the lack of hygiene made me question the overall cleanliness of the entire hotel. The condition of the room itself was far from satisfactory. The furniture appeared outdated and worn, with visible signs of wear and tear. The bed linens and towels were far from fresh, and I found hairs on both the sheets and in the bathroom - a clear indication that the room hadn't been properly cleaned before my arrival. Another significant issue was noise. The thin walls offered little sound insulation, and I was constantly disturbed by loud conversations from neighboring rooms and hallway traffic. A good night's sleep was nearly impossible to come by during my stay. Moreover, the customer service left much to be desired. The staff at the front desk seemed disinterested and lacked the warmth and professionalism one would expect from a hotel in this price range. My attempts to address my concerns were met with indifference, leaving me feeling like my concerns were unimportant. Terrible. We were given an ADA accessible room, it was late, we were tired and just went to sleep. In the morning we noticed many things wrong with this room. The faux wood floor was uneven in places, looked like it hadn't been swept and had weird stains; the curtains needed to be replaced; the closet had no door, had spackle above the shelf and a hair dryer and an iron were just thrown up there randomly. How would a disabled person reach them? I saw a roach on the nightstand and a dead spider on the floor. There was no box of tissues and no extra roll of toilet paper. The phone in the room looked like it had been dropped. There was no art on the walls, nothing. It wouldn't take a whole lot to make this room better. read more

Cleanliness? What cleanliness! Yiiiiiikes! Dirtiest hotel I have EVER stayed in! To start, we called to confirm check-in time so we knew when to arrive. We were told we could check-in starting at 12:00 PM. One would assume if that was the earliest check-in time, the room would be ready right at 12:00 PM, right? We got there at 1:40 PM. The front desk seemed surprised that we wanted the room and said the room we paid for wasn't ready yet. We were told we could either wait 20 minutes for the room to be ready or they could check us in immediately to a downgraded room. We asked if we would be given the room at the same price, and they said yes. Despite the room that they offered being CHEAPER than what we paid for. They only offered us the room and not to reimburse us the difference in cost. We decided to wait. An entire HOUR passed until we were told our room was ready because the housekeeping team took their break when we tried to check-in. After they FINALLY notice that we've been sitting there for an hour, the front desk called the housekeeping team and kept asking them why the room hadnt been cleaned yet. They finally tell us that we can go to our room. And guess what? IT STILL WASN'T READY!!!! When we headed to our room, the housekeeper had the room door wide open and was RUSHING through cleaning the room. We wait outside the room for another 10 minutes and the housekeeper then comes out of the room and seriously asks us if WE want the floors to be mopped or if we're fine with the room the way it is. OF COURSE WE WANT THE ROOM MOPPED. And the room was still a mess. Here's a list of everything else that went wrong: 1. The nightstand drawers were filled with trash left behind from the previous guest. 2. The microwave was filled with trash left behind from the previous guest. 3. The white curtain to the balcony door was covered in black mold. 4. The shower curtain was covered in pink mold. 5. There were dried boogers on the bed sheets. 6. We found empty toiletry bottles hidden throughout the room. 7. You can hear the pipes 24/7 and they are LOUD. 8. If I could give this place negative stars I would. Not only is this location filthy but the customer service is equivalent to a Hostel you find at the end of a dark alley in a third world country. The elevator is broken and smells of old dry urine. The rooms smell of rotten beer and day old vomit. The family that works here is so unprofessional and disorganized. They lack the ability to understand or clearly communicate which makes being a guest here EXTREMELY frustrating. They are constantly being berated with complaints because of their inability to keep up with the needs of their guests. The doors to the rooms are broken, they ran out of hot water before 9am, and you have to hunt down the cleaners for clean towels and amenities. our refrigerator was broken and needed to be defrosted. My dad walked around picking up garbage off the stairs and around the doors of our neighboring rooms because it was attracting flies and the smell was disgusting. It was like staying in a Roadhouse Inn off Broadway in South Central. You'll feel uncomfortable sitting on the chairs and sleeping in the beds. We booked this hotel 5 years ago and had a great time. Unfortunately, under new management it is nothing more than a dirty drug/party hotel. If you don't plan on sleeping and want to stay up to drinking and snorting cocaine; this is your place! The sofa bed was broken (it sagged to the ground as my daughter laid in it), there was no carpet in the entire room, no shower curtain, and no covering on the closet door. Upon checking our friend's room, who had the same room as us, we discovered that she had given us an accessible room. We asked why she had not disclosed this, and she did not give an answer. She said it was the last room with a sofa bed. My husband asked for a discounted rate and she told us no because we were using the room. We told her we could not use the sofa bed, and she told us she would need to send maintenance to check since no one else has reported it broken. We told her to go ahead. She said she could give us a different room but no sofa bed, which was not comparable to what we needed. We told her we would not stay since she was not listening to any of our concerns, could not give us another comparable room, and then accusing us of breaking the sofa bed. She told us, "You shouldn't have touched anything. How do I know you didn't break it. I'm still charging you a fee of $20." We had not even been in the room 30 minutes. When we went back, we discovered that the hot water was not working, as my mother had turned on the shower, and it was ice cold for over 15 minutes. As we were telling them to pack up, we were leaving, the front desk lady brought a man to the room, looked in, did not come look at the bed or shower and walked out. I now have two pending changes overcharging me. I will be disputing this with my credit card. Do not stay here. For $150 a night, it's junk. read more

I booked this place through Hotel Tonight and was assured despite the poor Yelp reviews that the hotel did not have bed bugs. Even when I checked in I asked if they were aware of their reviews and the clerk said, "This place has changed a lot." Unfortunately, it hasn't changed since the last report of bed bugs (~1 month ago) because my family and I left at 4 am due to me being bitten all over my core and legs and I even caught a bed bug and brought it to the front desk at 2:30 am. And to add to that, I was waiting with 3 other people needing access to their rooms since their room keys didn't work. They apparently had been waiting for over an hour. The clerk was asleep in his car directly outside of the front office. Once I checked out it still took my husband and I another hour and a half to dispose of our luggage, buy trash bags to seal our belongings in (the hotel didn't have any to provide us) quickly shower and get our 2 and 4 year old awake and pack everything safely in our car. Having been exposed to bed bugs living in NYC for years it was one of the most traumatic times for us. I write this to warn all considering staying here since bed bugs are super resilient and unless they close the entire hotel and fumigate they will not get rid of the problem doing it one room at a time. I think I saw a post of room 219 being affected and we stayed in room 203. I regret not heeding the warnings of those before me. And also for not being stronger with Hotel Tonight to give my credit back before we checked in because this is a health issue. In the end we got our full refund but wasn't worth the trauma (no sleep, crying babies, shortened trip, etc.) we've experienced as well as the disposed luggage and ruined clothing (heat is the only way to kill bed bugs but takes a toll on your clothing). read more

BED BUGS & ROACHES!!!!!! Do NOT STAY HERE. You will get bed bugs!!!!! I would have liked to give this place ZERO stars but Yelp will not allow for that, so this nasty place gets a star by default. My husband and I booked a 3 night stay and left after the first night. They put us in a room with carpet when I had requested hardwood floor. That was an easy fix but the room (Rm. 219) was disgusting and in absolute disrepair. There was a hole in the wall underneath the TV with wires and insulation exposed, a dead roach behind the toilet, the room reeked of smoke (supposed to be 100% smoke free) and the door that encases the refrigerator was off its hinges (please see all the pictures I have attached. But what's worse is that I got bitten alive by bed bugs and subsequently had to seek medical attention twice (urgent care because I became allergic). I sent management several emails with the pictures attached and left messages for the management to call me and no one has ever replied. So get this!! I paid for this place for Christmas weekend Thursday through Monday. Our flight was delayed from Dallas to LA due to a cold front freezing up the planes. We arrive at the hotel at 3 am and I speak with the girl on duty, explaining how the flights and how I'm now out here with my wife and 2 month old baby. "Come back at 9-10" was all I get essentially. The bath towels were also stained. The tub felt like it was going to fall thru to the bottom neighbor and there was also no body wash so lovely to get in the shower only to find out the body wash dispenser is completely empty. I booked a reservation online. The employees at the front desk were polite enough. The place had a pool, elevator, wifi, and free parking and a clean bed. A 15 minute walk to the pier and beach. Location was great. My spouse went back down within 10 minutes to let them know we had our service dogs with us. We realized we forgot to mention that when checking in, so we went back down. But they charged us a dog deposit, without even confirming with us first if they were pets or service animals. We explained and even showed them the paperwork, but they were very, very unclear with the deposit and when we would get that back. I understand completely it is our responsibility to tell them that, but I feel they shouldn't have charged us right away without even asking. We went down as soon as we could. Where to begin. If you like filth, this is your place. The alarm bells started to ring when they insisted on payment in full at check in, and it turns out the alarm bells were well justified. It's difficult to overstate just how bad this place is. The entire property smells of urine and cigarettes (they say it's a no smoking property bizarrely) and hasn't got a clean surface anywhere that we saw in 3 rooms and in reception. We booked a 2 queen bed room with sleeper sofa. Hector at the desk told us that they indeed have a sleeper sofa in the room, but they don't provide linen for it. What? Seriously Hector? In any event, the couch turned out to be something they had pulled out of a dumpster, complete with mysterious body fluid stains. See picture. Completely unacceptable unless you are keen to subject your body to an assault from what looks like a lab petri dish of bacteria. Whoever took the pictures of the place for advertising purposes on booking websites is a photographic genius, and that's a fact. The pictures, whilst obviously of the place in happier times, have NOTHING in common with reality. Every single thing is broken down, worn out, dirty, stained, slimy, smelly, moldy and frightening to look at.  We checked in, paid up front (a mistake we will NEVER make again!!) and went to our room. You are greeted with odd organic smells, tatty everything, exposed wiring, broken down furniture, a coating of mysterious grease on everything, filthy carpet, moldy fridge and trimmings, torn curtains, you name it, if it's bad this place has got it.  We were travelling with another party who had a similar room and who demanded to be moved from their room before we even got meeting up with them to tell them about our room. All total, we had 3 rooms perpetrated upon us, one worse than the next, so it wasn't a case of just getting one bad room. We went back to the lobby and demanded a refund from Hector (remember Hector? I'll never forget him!!) who told us that as we had made the booking through a booking website, he wasn't able to refund the money, and in any event wasn't empowered to do so. Only the manager, a mysterious individual who is never onsite as far as we could see, is authorized to refund. Needless to say he wasn't contactable and Hector didn't really try as they clearly had an opportunity to keep our money and not have to use the rooms we had booked. Apparently we had booked in too late to get a refund. Think about that for a second. "WE have these awful rooms, you booked them, and because you didn't have the manners to show up at lunchtime to check in, it's your own fault. Never mind our responsibility to keep you safe on our property." We handed back our keys in protest and hung around the car park awaiting the manager's response to our emails which never came. We eventually went elsewhere, at our own cost, as the place was a hazard to human health and never did get a call from the manager, a mysterious character who goes by the handle Gee. Reading other reviews, there seems to be a Dee onsite somewhere too, so make up your own mind there about transparency. Eventually we got a telephone number for this Gee by sneaky means, and he blubbered about how he was on the road and would check the facts and call back. He didn't. We chased him by phone for the next couple of days and eventually he returned our call but only after I had given him a deadline before I released the negative reviews which were surely inevitable. He made it clear that the hotel has a strict policy on refunding and would only refund 50% of our money. I Do NOT recommend this hotel. We reserved a room w two beds. upon arrival the hotel DID NOT have a room w two beds available. The hotel put a cot in our room for the second bed and charged us extra for the cot! We had to plead for an extra pillow to go along w the cot! In addition, upon our arrival they gave us a key to the wrong room! We entered the wrong room which was occupied ( probably was supposed to be the room we originally reserved) and saw it had two beds! Very unprofessional and unfriendly staff! read more

Stay away! These people are crocks. If you decide to stay - have someone from the staff check in to the room with you and make sure there is nothing broken. Otherwise they will put you in a room with a broken TV and steal from your credit card for it days after you leave without any explanation. You will need to investigate yourself why was your card charged 200$. Outrages behavior! The staff is clueless and unprofessional. Its not worth your time, money and nerves with this place! My only fault is that I did not read other reviews before I booked this dump. Its so obvious that they need to steal in order to stay in business and all the 5stars reviews are fake! read more
