Absolutely terrible place I checked in and they didn't say anything about not having visitors. My uncle came to visit me. They immediately was accosted and felt so uncomfortable. They called my room and everything they made me feel like I was a prostitute. I asked to get a refund the next morning if there are no visitors, you need to say so in the beginning, not after and make everyone uncomfortable if you have visitors here or any family members that want to come by they threatened to call the police if you want anyone to come to your door that is not on the guest list to come to visit you which most people do on vacation do not stay here they call the police you've been warned read more

An old motel but owners clearly take pride in it. Check in was smooth and the (owner?) very friendly. Every fixture and surface in our room was new- looks nothing like most of the pictures posted! New flooring, tub, bedding, even bathroom door. All very simple and clean, Mattress and pillow were firm and comfortable. Mini fridge, microwave, tv. It looks like the closet used to be the one small rack seen next to the bed in the picture, but for this quick trip didn't need any hangers! read more

We came for an overnight visit as a group with 3 rooms booked. As requested they were all next to each other. Owners/staff were very attentive and helpful. The hotel is a bit older but IMO the rates reflect that. They are close to everything and SO friendly. They even blocked out the only place my 15-passenger van would fit in the parking lot so that I could park in their lot. read more

Do you want to stay at this hotel? Pros: Very close to Topaz beach, price is cheap, free parking, dorm fridge. Cons: scratchy pillow cases, the AC likes to make ice crunching noises... maybe just my room, without the AC the room is very stuffy. The shower head is really low so not a problem for shortypants me, but problematic for anyone over 5' 6" Meh: The room was a cave, the paint job made it even darker, and I felt like it was dusty. Annoying: Checkout on the website says 12. It is actually 11, according to a note taped to a window. You fill out all of your information on the website and then again in person. Would I stay again? Maybe? The room wasn't as clean as I had hoped. The shower head was low and would start leaking a few hours after I had turned it off. The carpet felt clammy underfoot so don't plan on being barefoot. I had very little interaction with the owners/staff so that's a positive for me. read more

The Customer service was good, courteous, helpful and pleasant. The hotel was very close to the beach and many food places. Clubs and fine dining not more than 20 minutes away from hotel hood central base for location hopping. Let me tell you the hotel must have been freshly painted still had tape on stair rails, over spray too the rooms showed patching on the walls where holes used to be. The flooring was vinyl, the room walls had a fresh coat of paint and a mini fridge with small freezer. No elevator to the second story, trash receptacle on the second floor for trash was convenient, we had to ask for a do not disturb sign, used it on the door (Do not disturb) when we returned we could tell someone was in the room(used video technology), nothing cleaned nothing stolen seemed like a walk through! Tenants actually live at the hotel. We received two calls to our room to quiet down before 10:00pm- we were playing games and had doors and windows closed. The bedding grossed us out(see photos) the sheets smelled cleaned but seriously gross. Over all I would stay again but I would bring my own blanket and pillow to sleep on! read more

The owner/manager was nice but kinda shady! Our room rate for the Friday night was 89.00 ( good deal) and he let us check in early(11am). When I went to pay he say it will bee 100.00 exactly and he said cash only! I thought that was kinda odd, but no biggie!! As far as the room, it smelled terrible. It was a smoking room. We went to the beach and hoped it would smell better later, but it didnt. Room was very old and you could tell. Cords hanging all over the walls. Bathroom was falling apart. There was a suprise guest of a spider in the shower when we got there! Shower would overflow and water was everywhere! It was about a 15 min walk to the Pier (not 5). I would definitely not stay here again, the redondo beach inn is right next door, around same price and a lot cleaner!! If you don't mind these things, then this place can work for you! Look, it is what it is. This is not the Four Seasons. It is an old, beat-down motel that has never been renovated. As you can see from the photos, there is some strange electrical strip hanging off the wall that connects to the frig and microwave. It didn't look safe, but what do I know. The room was clean enough. It's close to the beach and for $100, it'll do. But don't stay here and then complain that it is not some polished hotel. It's not that, and you are an idiot if you think that is what you were going to get staying here. I will say, however, that the staff are EXTREMELY nice and friendly. I think a family owns and runs the place, and they were all super cool. I would stay here again. read more

Very decent for the price and two blocks from the beach. We paid $130 for two nights. This place is small and sparse, but it's clean and smells good, so if you just need a place to crash and don't mind that it's a little older, than this place will do. El Burrito Jr. is located across the street, which is where we got takeout dinner from. Any local will tell you that it's the best divey mexican place around. The proprietor is friendly and helpful, unlike some places I've been to where the person behind the counter acted like they didn't even want or need our business. Stay Away! The room smelled of mold and mildew immediately upon walking in. When confronting the staff about the mold (which led to headaches, congestion and nausea), the fleas (showing him the bites on ankles and knees), and a *hypodermic needle* found in the room, the live-on-property staff claimed "it wasn't their needle" and refused to offer any solutions and did not even offer to remove the needle! They then lied about the prices of the room and tried to charge us MORE per night to continue our stay - while also telling us the 1 room without mold was already taken. Throughout this entire stay, the staff was rude and inconsiderate, making hand gestures instead of using common courtesy and professionalism. They claimed to have a rule of "No Guests Allowed" - which is insane for a hotel and they made us both show ID, not just the person who rented the room. **There is NO maid service on staff (yet they charge more than enough to cover a professional maid service so there's no reason not to hire any)!** Additionally, there were stains everywhere, especially on the door, the balcony curtain and the mirror. The table inside the room also had something sticky and gross on the underside. The bathroom is incredibly tiny with nowhere to hang your towel and the shower-head is very weak and small. The water in the shower tub doesn't fully drain, so there is always a small little puddle in there as well. Dogs were barking at night and allowed to run around with no leashes (even though they falsely advertise not allowing dogs on the property). The only vending machine on the property is for show - it doesn't work (great metaphor for the hotel in general, all show with no substance). This hotel does NOT seem to meet Health Department Standards and is absurdly overpriced! read more

Booked this on hotels.com and the description said queen beds. Got to the room and they were double beds and the manager insisted that the beds were queens. Then he lied to hotels.com when we called to cancel for false advertising. Besides this, the room was not worth $129 a night actually not even $50 a night would be right. I just brought a new car and had never been to Redondo Beach before or even knew where the hotel was. It was funny driving through places like Compton and Inglewood and wondering if I just booked a room in the middle of the ghetto. I got in at 4am and the manager lives on site woke up and took care of us right away. Made sure we were good with the room, it wasn't until the next night that a car was parked in the parking lot that the manager didn't recognize and went up to them and ask them to leave. With my new car there I felt totally safe leaving it there and walking the 30 seconds to the beach. Service goes a long way for me. Next time I'm in LA I know I will be staying at the Moonlite Inn again. read more

Stayed here for a couple days in May, 2012. The room had a balcony that over looked the back parking lot and neighboring homes. Not a great view but it allowed me to get some air; could leave the door to the balcony open and let the breeze come in during the day/night. Lots of space to hang clothes and store personal items. Can't remember if there was a mircowave or fridge. Wifi included in price of room. Affordable but nothing showy. Perfect if you need to crash a few nights. Owners were nice and eager to give me extra towels. read more

After readying previous reviews I almost cancelled my reservation at the Moonlite inn because of how scared they got me. I'm glad I didn't because my friends and myself had a great experience. This is not a luxury hotel so I don't know what people were expecting. You get what you pay for and this motel serves it purpose. Me and my friends had such a good time in Redondo beach that we ended up purchasing an extra night at the Moonlite. The owners were amazingly attentive and nice, the room was clean, the bed was EXTRAORDINARILY comfortable, and the price was great for the location. Obviously this is a budget motel of the likes of Motel Six or Super 8, but the customer service was far better than either of those chains, and the room was actually nicer. The only downside was that the website indicated that rooms came with a coffee maker and they did not -- when I mentioned it, the owner told me that they had recently taken them out but if I wanted one he'd get one for me right away. When I come back to southern California (I'm in northern Nevada so...definitely not a local), I'm absolutely coming back to the Moonlite Inn. read more

This was a horrible experience for us. We were supposed to stay there 6 days. We ended up leaving after 2. Would've left after the first night except we couldn't find a room available for the same night. There were 4 of us traveling and we were meeting a local family member. After we got their, they told us that because there were more than 2 people, we'd have to pay $20 for each extra person per night. We were shocked. The person that was there when we checked in said they could call in the morning to see about reducing our rate. The owner?/manager? person that lived on site was shady. Anytime we came or left, he would stare out the front window. (We thought he was counting how many people were there, because our local family member would hang out after the beach). When "manager" called our room, he wouldn't talk to me and insisted none sending "the man" to talk to him. Later on we went down to talk to him and he would only talk to my boyfriend. Really frustrating. Overall, it was awkward, uncomfortable, and no feelings of privacy. Oh yea, the room was stuffy. Small, gross bathroom. No maid service. Really bad room anyway!! What the room lacks in amenities was made up by the owner's great service and friendliness. Large refrigerator in room needed turned off during night to sleep, could be replaced by small quiet one. First let's be clear this place is an INN aka a MOTEL- so I didn't expect it to be the same as a hotel! When I read the reviews I was nervous and scared BUT this place is actually pretty decent and I would stay here again! We didn't get the room to stay in the room the whole time- we got the room to sleep... And it served it's purpose, we stayed here 4th of July- yes it has a small parking lot but if you get a room you get a parking spot. I actually like when you can see your car I feel more comfortable, so I like small parking lots. There's an ice machine in the parking lot- I was pretty close and didn't hear it- it wasn't loud. My bed was comfortable, and clean. I really liked the pillows. The decor is a motel- not taking selfies in there or anything lol. We got a jacuzzi room, jacuzzi is big and it worked- again I wouldn't compare it to the jacuzzi that I got in Vegas in our suite... But it's a jacuzzi and kept hot and bubbly. There's a fridge to keep the drinks cold, AC that makes the room super cold (but perfect for summer nights), hair dryer (I didn't use), table with chairs, nice tv (not HD but like I said I didn't get the room to stay in the room just to sleep). It's a short walking distance to the beach (like a few blocks). Did it smell? It smelled like lavender in-scents it didn't bother me, bc I wasn't expecting it to be a hotel I expected it to be a motel- just like what we paid for.
