I recently had my engagement party at SW Beach Hotel and LOVED everything about it! My fiance's family bought out the entire hotel for the weekend which gave us privacy and accommodated us perfectly. Everything from touring the hotel to enjoying the penthouse suite, everything was perfect. The hotel is in a prime location right next to the pier and a ton of food and entertainment options. I don't know if it was because my girlfriend and I were senior citizens, but we were on the first floor and I had trouble from the start. I drove my car and had asked about parking right before we arrived. I had called and talked to the front desk manager and asked about a vase for flowers which he didn't have. I asked him if he had this a regular glass there and he said yes. The day before I arrived and because this was booked by my girlfriend's son, I didn't know the sleeping arrangements saying we needed it two beds. I called and got voicemail the day before and someone called me back about a couple hours later. I asked if there were two beds in the room and he said no there's a bed and then there is a fold out sofa. I said oh great I will take the fold out sofa and let my girlfriend take the bed. When I arrived at the hotel with my car, I didn't know where I was parking and it wasn't. The hotel is on the beach, but it's also in a very crowded area. I went in and spoke with the front desk guy. He said his name was Chris. He hurriedly explained how I could get to the parking spot and that was CF because of the instructions he gave me. After finding the parking garage, we did receive help from Chris to unload our luggage. My girlfriend is much older and I didn't allow her to carry anything so it was just me and him. We proceeded into the hotel and after we were in there... Yes, the room seemed nice and a little standard for a boutique. I immediately heard people on the floor right above us walking back-and-forth and there was no way that that was going to work out because she had traveled all the way from Denver for this and we had traveled from North Hollywood down to Hermosa Beach and.just a lot of travel, which made us weary When I asked about getting another room, which I knew it was full because it's pretty small Hotel he said he had put us on the first floor because he thought that we would not be able to climb the stairs to get to the second floor. I told him we're both able, and even though my girlfriend is older she is limber enough to climb stairs. I think he saw the concern on my face that we might leave because we hadn't unpacked anything so he did ask the people who had moved in to the top floor to switch with us. It was nice of them and they said yes we will switch. As we were getting ready for eating our food which we ordered in, I noticed there was only one wine glass and one fork. One spoon. So we managed through it for eating. As we got ready for bed, I unfolded the sofa bed and there was a huge urine stain on the mattress and now I had to find sheets. I could not find them anywhere and called the number to get help. Chris then texted me and said "I've I received many calls from you today. If it is not urgent, you could just text me and ask me. There's no need for you to call me repeatedly" Now he was inferring that I could not call him so to speak. he texted me to let me know where the sheets were. I had called him the day before and talked with him that I would be using that fold out bet. I think it was his job to point out where the sheets were when we moved into the room. I feel that because we were senior citizens we were disregarded! I asked him on text "is this how you treat senior citizens "? And I told him that I am a customer here that has paid for the room already. The next morning, the Keurig coffee maker did not work and there were only two coffee pods for both of us. Not enough I ended up at the market trying to get coffee for both of us. I didn't bother calling him about the coffee maker. I was already just too disgusted with his attitude towards. when we checked out, he was nowhere to be found. read more

Looks nice online, however our room was dirty. Bathroom floor was dirty with tiny pieces of something black. There were toenail clippings around the bed! You can tell nobody swept for sure. The rooftop area would have been nice if it wasn't in total disarray & NONE of the fire pits had propane. Yes, we tried every single one of them! Beds were also uncomfortable. This hotel was clean & quiet, so no complaints here. It was serviceable & I was able to get a quiet night of sleep. Rooms were small, although the suites seemed to be a nice size. I didn't really find that I wanted to spend time at the hotel or in my room because it was dark. There is no one at the front desk, but you can always get someone on the phone easily. I should note that the location is great. Easy walking distance to all of Hermosa's restaurants and activities. read more

What a nice little hotel full of beautiful suites. We loved the location, just steps from all the shops and restaurants. Not to mention steps from the ocean. We stayed in the Penthouse suite. This room was made to party. Full blown wet bar, beautiful shower, plenty of seating, storage and don't get me started on all the LED lights and party lights throughout the room. Honestly, I feel like it was a little dusty and wish there would have been a better wipe down before we got there. Aside from that, it was a great place to stay. The man working the desk was super helpful and friendly. The rooftop area was so nice and very large with seating and firepits all the way around. You could see the ocean and feel the breeze. There was light music playing until 10pm when they close it off. It looks like you could really host a party or event up there. Now the one huge downfall was the parking. We parked right outside of the front door. We paid for several hours and planned for it to expire about the time we went to bed so we could add more time just before we went to sleep and we did. But no matter... We woke up to two citations, one for "no parking from 5am-6am and the other for no front license plate. Our truck didn't even come with a front license plate when we bought it. What a scam, the city makes tons of money off of people just trying to have a nice vacation. The hotel should provide their guests with parking details to save them the hassle of this. read more

Stayed here for a night in December in the Ocean Pearl Suite. I would've given this hotel 5 stars if not for the fact that a dumpster lid fell on a loose fence and scratched the bumper of my car. I had to park in the garage even though I was told that I would be provided a parking permit, and I thought everything would be good considering that the options for overnight parking in the area are limited, but ultimately that wasn't the case. I told the front desk about it and while they were sympathetic, nothing was done to rectify the situation. I simply moved the trash lid and fence on my own and carried on with a scratched car. Otherwise, the stay was pleasant enough. The rooftop closes at 10pm. Our room didn't have a window but there was a kitchenette sink and mini fridge available. Basic toiletries were provided including toothbrushes and toothpaste. There is free wifi and there are bikes you can rent. You don't get a key card but rather you are given a code for the room lock. read more

Just checked out and I'm even more impressed with everything this hotel had to offer this time around. We stayed in room 106 which included a kitchenette, fridge, microwave, living space and a balcony! Basically a cute apartment with the ocean less than a minute away. I took advantage of their cooler and took it out for a beach day along with some fruit and snacks. The proximity to everything you want makes this hotel a true gem. The 24-hour fitness is a few blocks away, some amazing eats by the pier and some cute shopping spots are so convenient. We enjoyed the rooftop after a long day and got the fire pit going. Such a pretty view! If you're out here and need to get some work done, take your laptop to the rooftop for the best "office" out here. Tip: Skip the pricey bike rentals and use the provided hotel bikes or grab a ball for some beach volleyball! read more

Let start with parking they have 3 offsite city lots and will give you a permit valid for overnight parking. Entry to hotel is by electronic codes. The drapery closed electronically our room included a kitchenette a/c. The room has great lighting and also had a ceiling fan. Please note the parking permit is given with instructions on which days you can park in the lots ABC. We used the structure because it was valid for all days of our stay. Cars must be moved every 72 hours and the pass should be facing the back of the space. So it's visible when they check. The room is not large but does work for two people. Bath is standup shower. We always bring a night light to plug in so we do not have to blast our eyes with light in the middle of the night. No real space in sink for toiletries but you can place under the sink.. They supplied soap shampoo conditioner a shower cap and a toothbrush with paste. What we did not find was a box of tissues or body wash. The bedroom had a queen bed and was comfortable a good size dresser and a small closet. They supplied plenty of good quality towels including two beach towels and a volleyball on request. You can rent beach chairs bikes etc. Ice is available from both a machine and in our room a large bag in the freezer. Want to cook microwave pots and pans a two burner stove and a kitchen sink. But at this location you will find no shortage of restaurants, coffee spots, ice cream,bars, and if that's not enough drive or walk 1.7 miles to ManhattanBeach where you will find even more places including two with Michelin Awards (Sugarfish and MB post). Your at the beach near Pier so walk or Bike the Strand,play in the sand or play volleyball (you can wash of that sand at the public washroom/shower at Pier. If you just want to relax take in the view and a fire pit/table on the roof top. Plenty of seating and area to relax. They do rent the rooftop out as well. The bottom line Great staff Great location A/C Near PublicParking Very very Clean Quiet WiFi Tv with many channels If your room is on the second floor you will need to be able to climb stairs (Also to access the Roof ) No elevator! Front door has one step and the threshold to get in. The lobby is one step down. Back door is level with the Lobby There are some side doors but I do not know access We stayed on the second floor. Communication from your side was the opposite of timely, factual and professional. Citywide does not equate to blockwide and does not equate to "next door too." When we finally got someone to pick up the phone, they also indicated this had never happened before. One would think, in this situation, that management would make an exception to their existing policy. This is our first time staying at this place. I wanted a place close to the beach, and this is one is definitely one of them. We had the serenity suite, which is a good size for 2 people. It felt very cozy and was really cute and comfortable. You should prepare yourself to hear some outside noise, though, since the room faces the street. This place is epic especially when you relate it to Hermosa Beach, a small quaint coastal town. We booked the rooftop deck for a company party and they provided support staff that we didn't expect who were helpful the whole night I treated two company team members to a room as a prize and they were thrilled to be able to get ready for the event at the hotel and have a place to retire to when it was over. The rooms are super, not huge but perfect for our expectations. We catered our event from outside staff and there was plenty of room for the food staff and guests. We stayed here while visiting friends and we're so pleasantly surprised. This hotel is in the perfect location, right off The Strand. The rooms were so nice, clean and comfortable. The staff went out of their way to ensure that we had everything we needed. The rooftop patio has a view of the beach and was so elegantly decorated with fire pits and light up panels on the floor. What a small nest egg! I decided to book randomly for the holiday and I am happy I did. This small hotel is in a great location. Walking distance from the beach and restaurants. I love that there are only a handful of rooms so it's not super busy with traffic like the other hotels. We stayed during Fiesta Hermosa- no noise in the room at all. These rooms are not huge, more like collage dorm-meets Ikea adult modern. A platform bed (megan knees check!!) ,closet bathroom tv. I had a wine cooler and coffeemaker in mine (loved it) The decor was nice and clean, perhaps some hanging fixures so you can hang up your towel after you shower should be added. You can tell the owners take pride in the place the day before check in they texted asked I needed anything and helped accommodate parking since we had no idea the streets would be closed for the festival. I found this hotel by an accident. It is very private, exellent location with an amazing roof top. The owners Sandy and Walter are there to help you get settled and Jennifer is making sure everyone has everything including a very heart to heart conversation. Their place has a very homey feeling. Hermosa has the best restaurants and cute shops and SW hotel allows you to do it all without looking for parking. Everything is a walking distance. I'd def be back. Thank you guys. read more

This place is AMAZING and went way beyond our expectations. First of all the location is perfect. Right next to the Strand and the beach so worth every penny to have the beach steps away and numerous restaurants, bars and shops with a great VIBE steps away! We went for a wedding in Palos Verdes and decided to stay in Hermosa and happened upon this GEM!!! This place is a like a cross between a cool, modern, boutique hotel and an Air Bnb. Sandy is one of the owners and is so welcoming and amazing with customer service. She answers the phone if you need anything and will go above and beyond to make sure you have what you need. She made us feel so welcome when we arrived and remembered that we were there for a wedding. She helped us figure out parking and was such an amazing host. Jessica is another manager who is equally amazing. When we asked about housekeeping, she and one of the housekeepers - Iliana (spelling) came up immediately with garbage pails, bags, toilet paper and whatever we needed. I asked Jessica if she knew where there a mailbox close by so I could mail my mom a postcard and she offered to drop it off herself on her way home from work, AND followed up to tell me she did it the following morning! The housekeeper Iliana is also wonderful and you can tell and feel that everyone here is committed to providing excellent customer service! Mark is the Managing Director (I think that is his title) and also went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with our room and knew about the best spots to eat or listen to live music. He also opened up the rooftop to us and some other guests after we got back from a wedding one evening. He asked us what we liked to drink and went out and got my husband's favorite beer and brought an ice cold bucket of them up for him! He gave us a great history of some of the legacy restaurants in town and we ended up going to the Lighthouse two nights in a row because of his recommendation. We stayed in the Playa Hermosa room and It looked exactly like the photos. A small deck with 2 chairs, A modern vibe in the decor. The bed was comfortable and low to the ground. The kitchenette had everything you needed - full fridge, microwave, cups, dishes, cleaning supplies, ice bucket and machine nearby. The bathroom is small but fine. The shower had good pressure and hot water and there was a decent sized closet and extra hooks for our clothes. They provide a lot of great amenities including a toothbrush with a tiny amount of toothpaste, soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioner and vanity kit. Under the sink were cotton balls, q- tips and hair ties and a hairdryer.They give you plenty of towels and you can rent beach chairs, umbrellas and bikes from them. Plenty of outlets to plug in your phone or curling iron. There is a smart TV with Netflix, Amazon prime, Hulu and Youtube TV as well as regular channels and music. The remote worked and there were plenty of options. Basically they provide everything you need to be comfortable so you can hit the ground running and head to the beach or out to eat, or find nightlife. But if you need anything they are ridiculously accomodating! Old fashioned customer service is still alive here and so appreciated. We will definitely stay here again next time we are in the area. read more

I stayed here last month for the AVP Beach Volleyball Tournament. I'm about 30 minutes but from Hermosa Beach so this is the perfect staycation. I highly recommend if you like a luxury beach setting, with options to experience different resturants, activities, listen to music, or just chill at the beach. It's literally across the street from the comedy club. This is my 2nd time staying here and plan to book another weekend in the fall. The hotel is beautiful and the staff is friendly. i love the access to so many different places. We were at the beach all day, rested up, then rented their bikes and took a ride down to Fishsherman's Wharf for some fresh seafood and a couple of beers at Naja's. Rode back and ended the night at Tower 12. read more

This 1-star review should actually be 0 stars... One word: ick... falls short on hospitality, poor ownership, and delivering on expectations... We're just baffled over the lack of integrity. What should have been a peaceful getaway was tarnished by our decision to book a room at the SW hotel. We were met with constant room inconveniences that were paired with empty promises from hotel management. The place seemed desolate from a staffing perspective... we were charged additionally for a parking pass and instructed to park in the wrong lot... this resulted in us receiving a parking ticket! We were told that our room had been recently "remodeled" but they enclosed the patio and removed all windows in the room. Having no windows felt like we were sleeping inside a closet. Needless to say, this was not the beach vibe we were looking for. We also had issues with the shower not producing hot water and no one informed us they scheduled work, and we're surprised to find a random worker exiting our room when we returned from breakfast. I let the hotel manager know that we were not happy with our experience and we'd be checking out a day early and he told us that he was in contact with the owner to refund us for the last two nights of our stay for our inconvenience but did not follow through on his commitments. He also mentioned he was "confident it will get done before you guys checkout." The hotel manager clearly did not have sway with these decisions and should not be making promises to guests that he can't keep. When we tried contacting the owner, she shifted all the blame on us, and stated that she will not be offering any form of refund. Appalled be her lack of hospitality and customer service - when I told her about our poor experience, she said, "I don't care." And that was telling. Our fun weekend trip was robbed by the lack of care, poor oversight, and refusal to commit to their promises. The SW hotel from ownership down - completely lost our trust and we'll never stay there again! We thought we were getting a deal, but sometimes even the best "deals" can turn into nightmares. read more

The worst stay in America. I've stayed in 3rd world countries and never have been so mistreated in my life. The air conditioner was broken, and they knew it because of multiple fans in the room. When I called (saturday evening) to ask if some could come up and take a look, they said their people deserve a night off. They followed that by telling me to open the windows and turn on a fan. I thought I was being pranked. First of all, the bathroom window screen had so much junk in it that barely any air came in. The other window had the hotel vending machines and microwave/kitchen, which would not have given us any privacy. It was my birthday and I had a romantic lovemaking night planned for me, which was ruined by this hotel. The only contact I had was with Sandra Franco, one of the rudest people I've ever encountered at hotel ever. To pay 300 night for that you would have to be crazy. read more

SW Beach Hotel is our NEW go to Hermosa Beach home away from home! Not only is it walking distance to the beach, pier, restaurants and shops BUT you literally are treated just like FAMILY! From the second we booked all the way to the second we checked out, JESSICA made us feel so well taken care of! Long story short, I needed to find a hotel that could accommodate my son and my husband's needs which were walking distance to the following: beach, pier and restaurants! My needs on the other hand were quite unusual since I had a zoom class on Saturday from 10am - 5pm and Sunday from 10am - 1pm. I called nearly every beachfront hotel in Hermosa Beach. I asked simple questions such as: do you have ethernet connections in the guest rooms, how good is the WiFi connection and can we request a late check out in advance. All of them said the same thing, I don't know you'll have to ask the manager. I asked to speak with the manager on duty and I would either be connected to a voice mail or the manager on duty couldn't give me a definitive answer. I was so frustrated thinking, it's a given that we are going to be spending quite a few bucks to have the luxury of being that close to the beach that customer service should at least match if not go above and beyond! Come on people, it just makes sense! Anyways, I then called SW Beach Hotel's number because I wanted to ask the same questions. That's when I had the pleasure of speaking with Jessica! Not only did she sound like the girl next door (aka best friend), but she really sold me on how down-to-earth and HONEST she is! At that point I wasn't worried anymore because I had this gut feeling after speaking with her that everything was going to work out just fine AND it did!!!!! It worked out better than I could have imagined! I spent my time mainly in the room because of my class BUT it didn't feel like I missed out on anything cause it just felt like I was at HOME! I was hospitalized on the night before my stay but was able to call and cancel my room for the next night. This unsympathetic property charged my 100% of my expected room rate. I explained to the manager the siaution I was in and they stated it did not matter because daily income is the most important thing to them. I again pleaded my case but they once again refused to even lower the charge to maybe 50% of the rate. Avoid this property when making your choices in the Hermosa area. read more

We stood the weekend here dor my birthday and it is such a nice and convenient hotel. Everything is right ok outside the hotel, beach and bars. The rooms are beautiful with modern touches to them and extremely clean. I would absolutely stay here again. Also the host is extememly communicative via text which is super convenient as it's a really hands off approach to this hotel, which is perfect because it has an Airbnb feel to it as far as privacy goes. They are really relaxed and we ended up staying an extra day because of how great this place is. Would highly recommend. read more
