Note that like many other bizs in Parma, they close for a few hours in the afternoon. Traveling with your meat/cheese? They'll graciously vacuum pack your purchases for save travels! The first attempt I purchased a bottle in one side of the machine and then put it inside the door on the other side of the machine. I inserted the 50 euro for a 1/2 liter and the perfect goodness came pouring out. I extracted the bottle and we drank it right then and there. Oh, the happiness! This is when I knew Italy would truly become home for the next few years. Of course I had to purchase another bottle to take back to our room. There's really nothing like the pure goodness of raw milk! Now I'm on a mission to find other machines like this one in and around our soon to be new home!

Try a 1/2 liter teaser-taste for €0,50 but be prepared should you realize how easy it is to get that goodness in you. There is a plastic or glass bottle vending machine just next to it. We bring our own bottles, so I don't remember how much an empty bottle is - I think €1 for plastic and €2 for glass. The only reason why this has four stars and not five is because you have to bring change for the milk machine (bottle machine takes paper euro also), which sometimes causes a frantic search through the pockets and car seats. While some might disparage Mercato di Rialto as touristy, when my husband and I visited in June 2025, we were surprisingly just amongst a small handful of non-Italians. In fact, most of the shoppers were locals, and it's a great place to practice one's Italian and potentially, a photographer's paradise. If we ever return to the region and have a kitchen at our disposal, I'd love to take advantage of the beautiful heirloom tomatoes, artichokes, chicory, figs, artichokes, and seafood (fresh scallops! cuttlefish ink!)

The Rialto Bridge is located by the Grand Canal and it is now still a part of Venice's daily life. Chefs and locals come here to purchase fresh quality products from the fish market, fruit and vegetable markets, and there's nearby shops for butchers and bakers too. It has been a commercial heart of the city for nearly a millennium. Unfortunately for us... they are closed on Sundays. We came before 9am and were so surprised about how empty the area was. I watched many YouTube videos recommending to come early, so I was surprised not to see many vendors out. There were a few stands for fruits and spices but it was so bare... I didn't know until afterrrrrr that they are closed Sunday. There was no other day where we were available to come over in the morning, but if I knew I would have saved time and avoided making the trek to this area.
