We were lucky and grabbed the last open table since we were going to order dinner. Our server greeted us promptly, handed us menus and asked for our drink order. I ordered my favorite beer on tap - New Glarus' 'Spotted Cow', opting for their 16 oz. size instead of the 22 oz., and we each ordered their two-piece fish basket with french fries. Our beers were served quickly and we waited, maybe 10 minutes for our fish baskets to arrive. Both the fish and the fries were PIPING HOT! Excellent! Along with the fish and fries, there was a small paper cup of coleslaw that was pretty tasty. The exterior of the ketchup and the tarter sauce condiment bottles on the table were really gross; seems they don't get cleaned much. But the tarter sauce was good with the hunks of perfectly fried fish (which I'll guess was Cod). The fries were the thick slabs of potato and really substantial. The meal was *very* filling. We got our check without any delay (two beers and two 2-piece fish baskets = $35) and left after paying our bill so as to free up the table for someone else.

My overall review, for those with short attention, is that the food was good and the service has room for improvement. I had a four (4) piece chicken dinner. It came with coleslaw and I ordered tator tots as my side dish. The chicken was crispy and had great flavor. The coleslaw was creamy with great taste. The tots were tasty. My dining partners enjoyed their bang bang shrimp and hamburger. They were happy with their side dishes. One dining partner had the perch tacos. While they looked good, she said the taste was bland. Oddly, they came with a plain cup of white rice. The staff, which may have been affected by the shortages (most likely in the kitchen), could have been more attentive. Specifically, our young waiter, seemed distracted by doing things all over the restaurant. Probably not his fault, but did detract from the overall experience. Having ate at the restaurant several times over the years, I would say it is worthy of a visit.

The name is Custers and located in a small town called Chetek Wisconsin. The menu is not extensive but adequate. Ordered foot long chili cheese dog basket with root beer. The car hop brought out my order in a plastic basket and the drink in a plastic glass. I was in my car and was expecting a tray that would sit on the driver's window for easy eating, but that did not happen. I asked the young lady for a tray and she did bring it out. I then examined my order and discovered soggy lukewarm fries, foot long hotdog with skin that was so tough it would not be cut by a plastic knife. In the great state of Wisconsin, known for its cheese, this dog had cheese whiz and nothing that resembled chili. It was a brown liquid with chili flavor but no onions, beans or hamburger. What a disappointment! This stand is only summer seasonal and makes it money on repeat business - which I will not be among that crowd. They had a golden opportunity to bring a new venue to town with very little added cost but a world of new place to enjoy. Sorry Custers but it is my last stand if this is how it will be going forward.
