If you're looking for old school craftmanship at a super reasonable price, Red's is the shop to go to. High quality Automotive PPG primer and paint were used and the newest PPG Clear coat which offers extra protection against UV rays was also applied as the finish coat. If you're looking to repaint you bike frame, you'll be able to get it done locally and with a relatively quick turnaround. I can't believe there aren't more reviews on this place. It's always hard for a girl like me to go into a body shop, because you never know if the guys are going to take advantage of your low knowledge of cars, and charge you much higher than they should. Last year I took my car to Quality Auto Craft in Pleasanton, recommended by Geico, and I was very disappointed with the low-quality work and the awful customer service. This time I decided to find my own body shop, and I'm sure glad I did. A neighbor of mine who is a mechanic at Eurotech recommended Red's Livermore Body Shop, saying Kurt was a great guy and he's never seen anything come out of that shop that didn't look perfect. He was absolutely right. Working with Kurt and Kim was an absolute pleasure. They went out of their way to make the experience as quick and painless as possible. She was sweet and accomodating on the phone, and I could tell he was dependable and honest from the minute I met him. I went in for an estimate to get the front fender replaced and the door repaired (effects of the accident). My car looked like hell when I dropped it off. When I went to pick it up, I was absolutely blown away. Not only did the fender and door look perfect, but he buffed and repainted my peeling sideview mirrors and fixed a broken piece of my trunk, free of charge. The fact that my car was sparkling clean when I picked it up was just the cherry on top. It's funny - it looks way better than it did even before I got hit. It's the little things that set this body shop far above others in the area. I don't think I'll ever go to another shop for my car, even though it's about a 30 minute drive from where I live. I took my beloved Honda S2000 in for an estimate on some irritating paint issues. The estimate was quite reasonable. When I picked up the car I was floored. Beautiful, I thought, and I am kinda particular about this car. They had also addressed some small problems not mentioned in the estimate as a courtesy, like a scape on a mirror and chips on the edge of the door. They even spent time getting at many tiny rock chips around the car. These guys are GOOD!! read more

First let me say, I'm a repeat customer of Curt Allred's, Red's Livermore Auto Body. At least I tried to be. A repeat customer does not repeat based on a prior bad experience. Ten years ago, I needed a paint gouge repaired on a classic car, and Red's was professional and accommodating. The paint matched perfectly. I brought a recent purchase to Red's in November 2015. A 1987 pickup truck in need of a possible frame repair and paint. Curt was reluctant to take it on, but he told me to drop it off at his shop December 7. I called a few days before to confirm, and Curt moved the date out to December 14 because the shop was running behind. I dropped the truck off on December 14. I expected the 2015 holiday season to delay the repair. Sometime later Curt mentioned he was shorthanded due to an injury suffered by one of his employees. On my part, I would visit the shop at least once per week to check progress, and express my interest in seeing the work completed. There was never progress. Like clockwork, every week Curt would discuss what he was going to do, and say he'll get to it "next week". At 8 weeks, I told Curt of an impending appointment on February 15 at another shop. He said the work would be completed the next week because he had time available. I called the shop February 11. I understood Kim, the office manager (and wife) to say the truck was ready. I arranged to stop by the next afternoon. No surprise I suppose, but no work had been completed. Curt did say he sort of straightened the front bed panel which I suspect could have been done pulling on it with two hands. In retrospect, I don't believe he ever intended to do the work. This is evidenced by the fact they never produced the work order I asked for. I'd rate this experience a zero star if I could, and it's not a heat of the moment rating. This shop wasted 9 weeks of my time. If your insurance company approached Red's about a collision repair, I suppose Curt would accommodate you. The verbiage on their website "All makes and models of vehicles are welcomed" doesn't seem to hold true. Another snippet from their website is "Some families have been customers of Red's Livermore Body Shop for four generations...". I honestly tried to be a repeat customer, but I won't be back. read more

The owner is honest and very helpful. The trunk latch on my older model car permanently jammed in the closed position and I had to tie my trunk to keep it closed. I got quotes from several other body shops in Pleasanton and Livermore. They all told me a new latch would cost over $350 and their labor to install it would be about $150 for a total of about $500. The owner at Red's Livermore Body Shop suggested a different approach that SAVED ME ABOUT $350. He told me about a company in Brentwood that sells used auto parts to consumers. I was able to by the latch there for less than $100. Red' Livermore Body Shop installed the latch in about half an hour and charged me only about $50. I got my trunk fixed for about $150 when every other body shop I visited quoted almost $500. They were pleasant to deal with and professional. I highly recommend this auto body shop. read more

I just had my 2005 Tacoma repaired at Reds. If you want a true craftsman with honesty and integrity, this is the place. Prices are more than fair. I've never experienced customer service any better than this. It was so good I brought my daughter's SUV in for some minor work that he did while I waited. OK, after reading the Yelp reviews as well as from a family member who works for the City of Livermore who heard good things about Reds, I decided to take my vintage car there for some estimates on painting the car. The owner was pleasant enough when looking over my car, asked me pertinent questions about the car, so I thought OK, this guy knows cars and seems interested. Knowing this would be an expensive job (10K plus) I also asked for an estimate on just painting the hood for now while I saved for the entire job, which would be within a few months. . All I wanted right now was an estimate. After looking over the car, he told me he would email me the estimates. I thought OK, I should have this within the week. Well, after a week with no email, I called and talked to the owner. Right away he started back peddling saying he was busy and he couldnt give me an estimate because he didnt know what the body would be like when he stripped the old paint off. I thought, OK, thats strange but fair, can you just give me an estimate on painting the hood for now. Again, he started back peddling and ended up telling me he would email me an estimate. After another week, no email. Really? If the owner did not want to do the job, all he had to do was tell me,, he wouldnt hurt my feelings. Here I am, trying to support a local and independent business in town and it was obvious this guy didnt want to do the job and was somewhat rude about it over the phone. I was very dissappointed how I was treated.Heck, if this guy did a good job I would have certainly added that information when I displayed my car at shows. Maybe this guy just relies on insurance work or easy stuff. I am at a loss why someone would turn down work. read more
