Chris is really good at sending updates at a timely manner as well as giving options to what can be done when problems occur. It's hard to find a place who can work on special custom projects let alone a place you can trust to do it right the first time. They worked on my 72 Dodge Demon installing a full aftermarket front suspension even though they've never worked on this specific car and/or the vendor for the parts. We hit a few bumps into getting it installed for which raised the approximate finish time as well as the estimated price of install. Neither would be their fault as the aftermarket vendor sent wrong parts, etc. But after the install, the car felt completely like a different car and handled much better. Thank you!

The owner, Tim, here is awesome - professional, straightforward, honest and tells you exactly what you need or don't need done. My ford has been in a couple more times now for an odd smell coming from the engine and basic maintenance. Always gets the work done and a very fair rate. He mentioned they work on European cars after I mentioned I had a Mini and since then now have an Audi... after the estimate at Audi for a brake job, I said thanks but no thanks to Audi and came here. At around half the price, Tim apologized for the expensive parts as apparently my Audi has the most expensive ones.. no problem, I will take that price any day. Tim also reviewed other items on the list of "things to do" from Audi and noted when things may actually need to be done or if I can wait longer. Super personable, love supporting our local shop and trust him with all of my vehicles!

I saw all the great reviews and I was referred here by a trusted friend when my car started having oil in the coolant reservoir. Tim told me his next availability was 2 weeks away so I waited and towed my car in the night before my appointment. I never received a call about my car so I called and checked in 2 days later and he tells me he didnt look at my car yet because he didnt write down my info and forgot about my appointment. He calls me later to tell me that theres definitely a bad headgasket and it was too expensive to make sense to repair and my car was basically toast. I paid around $300 and took my car home. I drove on the car a good 300 miles and it ran smoothly so I decided to get a second opinion. I looked up subaru specialty and took it to ackermans in berkeley and without even looking at it yet, he immediately said " you have a bad pcv valve" and it's a common issue because there wasn't evidence of the coolant in the oil reservoir so the leak was one directional. He replaced the valve for $280 and its been a year and half- it fixed the problem! I didnt want to write a bad review but after all this time Im so grateful I found Bruce at ackermans so if youre a subaru owner looking for help, reconsider this place. If I would've trusted his diagnosis I would've retired a car for a silly valve part...

Most of us like to poke our heads under the hood and pretend we know what's going on, but we usually don't. The next logical step is a repair shop, and many people default to the dealership because they think they can trust them more. In my experience, that's a mistake--dealerships often touch ten things, fix one, and charge you for everything. Luckily, I found Rich and his team. I recently bought a newer car with all the bells and whistles, and I was braced for a huge bill. Rich was incredibly professional, polite, and straightforward. I was actually in shock; he takes the time to educate you on the repair rather than just grabbing your keys and telling you he'll text you later. The estimate was a pleasant surprise, and better yet, there were no hidden fees at the end. The amount he quoted was exactly what I paid. They were on time, efficient, and had me back on the road in no time. It is such a relief to find this kind of service these days. It's nice to know you don't have to pull out a platinum card for a simple repair or an oil change. All the 5-star reviews you see here are 100% true. One quick tip: the shop can be a little tricky to find the first time, but trust your GPS! It will get you there, even if the turn looks a bit hidden. You cannot go wrong with this team!

According to my previous, trusted mechanic who has since retired, and according to a more recent…read moreestablishment that performed a minor job for my Jaguar F-Type, I guess it was time to get new rear brakes. So I shopped around for places with excellent reviews and then compared prices. Performance Autowerk was a top contender, even though it was more of a drive than I wanted to make. As I researched, I appreciated that Rich always answered any questions I had in a timely fashion. Nothing was too small to answer. Once I decided upon his business, when I got there I was expecting him to just usher me in and get started. However, he took the time to check all four of the brakes with some sort of instrument, and then carefully asked me how I knew that I needed brakes. What?! I told him that prior to my mechanic retiring in 2023, he told me that I should expect to replace the rear brakes within a couple years or so. Then a few months ago, another mechanic who performed an oil change but also checked out the health of my vehicle, told me with some urgency that I should get my rear brakes replaced before I would have to do the rotors as well--and that they could take care of it for me for X amount of dollars. When I told Rich this information, he seemed skeptical. He actually didn't think that my brakes needed to be replaced at that time. What?! He asked me if any sensor in the car had alerted me to the brakes needing to be replaced. I told him no. He went on to explain how that sensor would work in my car. He actually did a LOT of explaining to me in general. I really appreciated it. Bottom line: He told me that my brakes would need to be replaced at some point in the near future, but they did not need to be replaced today. He said it was up to me if I wanted to do it today (since they would have to be done eventually), or if I just wanted to keep driving until the sensor came on. Honestly, I was shocked. Usually you expect someone to just take your money and not try to dissuade you. Truly, truly, shocked. Anywho, since I was there, I had him replace the rear brakes, and he had it completed in a couple of hours. He showed me my old brakes and explained exactly what he did and how worn down they were--though again, I still had time to drive with them. To say I was impressed with him and his integrity is an understatement. I would love to keep going to him, but he says he might be done working on Jaguars, because the dealers seem to be a li'l shady with pricing and other areas. : ( Well, if he continues to work on Jaguars, I will continue to be a customer!

They were able to identify the screw in my tire when another place, which I will leave unnamed, couldn't. They were also able to deal with my tire lock without the key (my family has two of the same type of cars and the key was with the other car). They worked around the lock at one visit, and broke it off (with my permission) on another in order to get me back in the road in a timely fashion. The time when they worked around the lock was in 2024, and I paid about $45. The time when they had to break the lock was a year later and I paid about $75. I especially appreciate their professionalism and ability to not talk down to female customers, which sadly a lot of auto shops still do, even in 2025. Definitely recommend!
