Once in a blue moon lunar eclipse you come across a business run so well it raises your bar of expectations high and deep inside you know you will be coming back. Practically unheard of for an autobody shop! California Collision is one of those unicorns. My only regret is not hearing of them sooner. Reflecting back on my involuntary experience of being the receiving end of a rear-end collision on the freeway, California Collision was the clear stand out. Not only did they get my BMW back on the road like it never happened, they handled it like a concierge would. Take that from a regular business traveler that works in the private equity world. George and Team handled everything in my best interests. They are an honest to goodness family business; the real deal- they all share the same last name. The first thing George did during the drop-off process was insist on giving me a walk-thru tour of the *entire* shop and work area. Other shops hesitate and deflect with these requests but George volunteers it first thing without even being asked. After using the restroom on the way out, there was not a corner I didn't see. Communication and customer service is first class- my calls, messages, and emails were always returned in a timely manner. They dealt with insurance and the car rental. I didn't have to do anything besides provide approvals. The job was done exactly how I wanted and even exceeded expectations. My BMW is older now and I expected aftermarket parts but I ended up coming out with all OEM parts at 0 expense to me. Even my optional factory/ OEM+ M-division performance parts were handled. Color match and fit were factory perfect. George is a perfectionist and personally inspects your vehicle after work is done and only releases back to you after it passes his high expectations. The driver of the other vehicle instantly admitted fault but it didn't make dealing with the insurance companies any easier. We went through our insurance company thinking they would advocate for us and that they would make the process easier. They actually did the opposite. George and Angelina were our contacts at California Collision. They were AMAZING; super responsive, professional yet very personable!! I can't say enough about how great they were while we navigated a stressful repair through our insurance company. They used new Ford OEM parts for the repair vs used or cheap aftermarket parts that didn't fit properly. I never thought our insurance company would try to use the latter but they did. George and Angelina amended a supplement list with them 6 times to fix the truck with the correct/best parts instead of the cheapest. The truck came out beautiful; my husband and I were thrilled with how it looks and handles! The truck looks amazing but it also was mechanically repaired perfectly as well! We are VERY pleased we used California Collision for the repair! They totally go the extra mile for their customers. They even dropped the vehicle off at our house when the repair was complete. BLUF: I highly recommend California Collision I can't speak to whether or not these guys are a deal because I'm not constantly getting cars fixed and don't really have any context for what pricing should be, so let's get that out of the way. Speaking ignorantly, I felt like the price was fair for the oem replacement and painting of a skirt panel on my car. George and team were responsive and detailed in communication, they were clear about timelines and what you would be charged and they answered all my questions without making me feel like I was a nuisance or an idiot. George was always friendly, patient and even cheerful. My particular repair was done very quickly and they explained in detail what was going to be done. They finished a little bit ahead of the proposed schedule and a quick walk through the shop leaves no mystery about why. The shop is very organized and clean. There's a lot of room for maneuvering whatever number of cars they're working on to different stations. The repair crew looked neat as well. I think George takes pride in his shop and has a high bar for his team (which, from my experience, they live up to). Thanks guys! read more

With all previous positive reviews from Yelp, I wanted to drop by this Auto Body shop. The experience of getting the initial estimate started positive, taking a few pictures, checking vehicle detailed damages, even giving a tour of the shop, around 20mins total, it seems to OK. Then the adviser proposed an option to drop off to drop off the vehicle for 3-4 hours that day to get a complete damage estimate. but it would cost you up front for few hours spent by the shop and be deducted from the total repair cost if the client decides to use the shop. He seemed to insist for this option, I felt he was quite pushy as typical salesman tactic. I declined and chose the typical Initial estimate of the front-end damage. Here is the issue: 1) The estimate misses 1 big obvious item like headlight complete module. He response didn't know the reason it was left out. Then the estimate was re-vised, and update, it was still wrong with generic item, with lower estimate. 2) No reply call even the message was left through the front office lady. He claimed didn't get the message. It seems there is a disconnect within this Auto Body shop. 3) After a few days, there is a 0 call or email following up the initial estimate. Either the management has been changed from previous years claimed as family owned, or it seems the company operation is complete different reflecting from all previous feedback. With that I gave other shop the opportunity that they would care the relationship with clients instead of 1 time big transaction business. read more

George provided an initial estimate that was impressively accurate just based on photos -- some other body shops even missed damage that needed to be repaired. More importantly, his willingness to explore lower-cost options (without compromising quality) literally saved me thousands. Other shops insisted on "like new" repairs with expensive paint options, but George listened when I explained I was hoping to pay out of pocket and asked if there were any ways to lower the cost. He suggested a way to get the paint "90% matching" for half the price and even offered to show me a sample before moving forward. Honestly, the paint match came out so close that I can't even tell the difference between the new door and the rest of the car. I have an BMW X7 and my wife backed into a 2016 Honda Civic. I sent picture below to 3 different body shops and prices came out to be $800,$1200, $1600 (B&S Hascienda) and $2200 (California Collision). Vendor 1 provided 2 quotes $800 and $1200. Since the owner used California Collision on a previous vehicle, I was forced to use this vendor for repairs. I declined to use my Insurance company to pay what I thought was a simple repair. Note their price was 37 % more than B&S auto body. I was able to work with Giovanni to lower the price of repair on initial estimate from $2200 to $1844. Btw... don't bother trying to have Giovanni call you back. He never called me back once . Had to call him three times over 3 days just to talk about this claim. Additional issues were discovered once the bumper was removed. A clip from the headlight assembly was broken + a slight ding to the impact bar . This resulted in a supplemental quote of $1700. California collision refused to lower the price knowing I'm paying out of pocket. This is a family owned business and Giovanni's family owns the business. Lessons learned 1. You have no control over the initial estimates, especially if the collision center didn't open up the inside for initial inspection. Think twice about paying out of pocket. You are at their mercy with their pricing. $3,400 for a bumper repair. 2. Get multiple quotes..,,collision center has no incentive with saving you money. They used a higher per hour rate than other vendors. 3.they don't call you back on your claim. You need to follow up repeatedly.....especially with Giovanni. Don't try to get a discount from Giovanni. It's family run. They want to make their 40-60 percent margins. 4. Try B&S auto body. Way better customer service . read more
