If you really can't wait for a delivery and need some agricultural supplies immediately I recommend coming to this place. Everything is extremely overpriced but it has just about everything you need to grow. Right up front you got to know that the owner Ed is not a fan of the Cannabis industry. He's just like everyone else in the area, looking to rip you off buying their overpriced products and services. Ed is very knowledgeable but he can be extremely rude and arrogant. He lacks any type of customer service skills. Tell him what your problem is, he'll sell you a product to resolve your problem, and that's all you get. If you have an opinion different than his or question his recommendations be prepared for a rude and rash response. He will tell you that he has a degree in agriculture and somehow feels superior to anyone he talks to about the subject so just get what you're going to get and leave. read more

I saw a few bad reviews for this Nursery, and felt compelled to write an honest review. I drive about 70 miles to this Nursery, the owner is personable, helpful and full of knowledge. He really cares about gardening and his customers. He has a vast knowledge of insecticides, fungicides and miticides. His expertise and experience are second to none on the west coast of the United States. Which is why I travel from California to purchase products from him...GLADLY. By the way he always carries the real non watered down products for pest control, and takes the time to do the math required for optimum results. You can call him back over and over, yet never loses his passion for helping you. Your money is well spent here and I wish there were more people in business who actually take their job serious, and like what they do. ...As Redwood Nursery does. If you're looking for somebody to hold your plants for an exuberant amount of time, possibly you need a plant storage facility and not a Nursery, I know of one located in Encinitas, California. But I believe they only store high dollar Orchids. Near Leucadia off ramp. (can see from freeway) So..if you want knowledge and experience shop here,..as you will never find this at a Lowes or Home Depot. I have 30 years experience in the Nursery Trade, as well as a very long standing member of the International Palm Society, South African Cycad Society, So. Thought this place was great when looking for fruit trees and ordered 6 of them. When they arrived they were bare root and I had originally been told they would be half the price of what I ended up spending. We also purchased the recommended fertilizer to assist their growth. We spent nearly $300. So when one tree didn't survive and I was told they were guaranteed I returned the dead tree. Apparently I had to be scolded for returning them by some young girl who has zero customer service skills. She told me that I can wait until next year to get a new one. That is just not acceptable. So after going back and forth and making a big deal about my return I finally got my money back. I was going to get another tree but after that treatment I will never return there for any reason. Being in the service industry my whole life I certainly wouldn't treat any customer like that and expect to have a thriving business. I recommend training your staff on guest service. I really wanted to love this place in fact at first I did. In the beginning they were helpful and courteous and when I went in to say the cabbage plants I had purchased bolted the owner was a little gruff but nice and said sorry and to bring it back and he would give me a new batch. Which he did do. I purchased a mini fruit tree at that time, and a bunch of other stuff, but I couldn't find a good pot for the tree so they said I could leave it there until May 1st. I went in often to purchase many things and asked about the tree to make sure I didn't need to do anything for it. Then as the time drew near the supplies I ordered to make the tree bed were delayed. I went to talk with them, cause we lunch nearby, and asked if I could have a little more time to pick up the tree. The sales clerk, a gentleman, was very accommodating and said I could leave it till fall if need be. I thought wow this is heaven I love this place. Unfortunately on my way home from the store I get this curt, obnoxious call from the sales girl telling me I had to come and pick up the tree right now or they would sell it and not give me my money back. Confused as I had just spoken with them, I called back and the sales girl was really rude and said I had to pick up the tree right now and that she could have "sold that tree 5 times over by now". I usually have the patience of a saint my husband says, but I was pissed. So I went back to pick it up and they had it in a beaten up old pot that had holes in it. The guy is about to pull the tree out of the pot, since I bought it bare root(that was fine), except I had no place to put it while I waited for the bed supplies. I asked him if I could just buy the pot and how much it was. He had to go ask and came back with 60$ which is, btw, almost 2x the price of a new one. Not wanting to deal with them I begrudgingly said fine and they put the tree in my car. Another time I purchased some onions and noticed that they kept dying. I checked them out and they had onion maggots. Now I have some very good friends that are quite knowledgeable about gardening and they told me that it was most likely from the grower since my soil was brand new. Not wanting to be a pain, I nicely told the owner what had happened and that the soil was new. He asked where I had purchased it(Home Depot) and proceeded to give me a lecture on how they are ruining all the plants and that they purposely allow bugs and things to get in the new soil or something, I had kinda tuned out by then. I actually lost over half the onions and the rest are doing ok. I doubt it was their fault about the bugs but I believe in standing behind your products not blaming others. The take away is, for this place if you get them on a good day they can be awesome. If not you may enter customer service hell! Be ware of the vegetables and some of the other plants because sometimes they'll be holdovers from the year before or they have disease or bugs, but most everything else is ok. read more

Redwood Nursery might have good plants but their customer service needing information for example is the WORST I've ever encountered. Bought a tree there which was costly and needed advice. The man in charge was awful and did not want to take even a moment to help me with a phone number to get advice ended in hanging up. Will not be buying their plants and will go elsewhere. read more

Don't know who the reviewer listed from BEND is, but he's not a repeat customer of anything here when he lives 200 miles away, and I doubt he's someone that anybody would care about anyway. I have purchased many things from Redwood and in every instance the service was incredible.... fast, knowledgeable, open with great advice, and highly professional! The plants and tree's I've purchased there all flourished. Their selection of unique classy gifts, and collection of Garden Artwork for sale is the best in the Rogue Valley. The owner of the nursery is frequently recommended by other nurseries in the area for consultations about plant maladies and pests and how to remedy them. He's sharp, has a good sense of humor, but he doesn't suffer fools and idiots well, which probably explains that guy from Bend! read more

The place to go for healthy plants and great selections! They are really helpful and totally knowledgeable with planting tips and suggestions. I also bought some large pots and was pleased at the variety - the pricing was a bit higher than I was used to finding at the pottery shops in Sunol CA but acceptable. I'll make the 27 mile ( one way) trip from Cave Junction regularly as I landscape our new home in the woods. read more

My husband bought me a dog wood for Valentines Day. The tree was not cheap. After only a few weeks the tree looked terrible. Now the tree is dead. I called to see what their warranties are and apparently they do not back their plants. This dog wood tree was taken care of the same way that all my other dog woods were taken care of and they have been great. The only difference is, we bought the other dog woods at a different nursery. This one has never thrived. I would not recommend buying from this nursery. I had gone to Redwood Nursery quite a few times, also a nursery that is no longer in Murphy, and a new nursery set up in a bldg. supply. So I decided to head over to Redwood. I read one Yelp review which started out with the F word, and was a little reluctant to go. But whenever anyone writes a review and uses that kind of language, I consider the source. So I went to Redwood, after I had stopped at a newer nursery set up at a bldg. supply store, which didn't have anything and no help available at all. I have to say the young lady at Redwood who helped me was great, friendly, helpful. And they have TONS of plants at decent prices. And this is only 2/6/20. But I want to plant now.She said yes, we have an acre of plants in the back. Not to mention all the great things inside the store for home décor or gifts. I would definitely go to Redwood Nursery before I go to any other nursery. Good stuff, good prices, and friendly service. read more

Don't expect this nursery to stand behind ANYTHING they sell. Bought 5 small containers of a ground cover, 3 days after they were bought, I went to plant them and 2 had died. Mind you they were indeed watered. I returned with the 2 dead plants and the scruffy, short, chunky store manager was loud and rude. Making it 'clear' that he would refund my $$ 'this one time'. After accusing me of not watering the 2 dead plants (and refusing to listen to me) shorted me one dollar per plant! Really???? I'll stay with Sandy's and the Home Depot. I wanted to like this nursery, as they were great in helping me select a tree for a housewarming gift for a cousin who had just moved to Grants Pass. The tree was paid for, but when my cousin came to pick it up a month later, they had sold it and told her she waited too long to pick it up. This is poor customer service, in my opinion, as they could have called me to let me know it hadn't been picked up yet. But to sell a tree that was paid for, and thus, not theirs to sell? Bad business ethic. They did refund the cash to my cousin so she could choose a tree elsewhere. Sorry; I've never written a bad review, but this deal was upsetting. read more

Apparently Yelp thought the following review was inappropriate. Was it the reference to pot? It is legal in Oregon now, and very relevant to our experience. Or is it because the business objected to a truthful review of our experience with its owner? "Twice in the last week my wife and I tried to speak with Ed as he is apparently the only person who is able to deal with customers interested in Dosatrons ($600-700 each). The first time, we were told two people were ahead of us, so we waited patiently for our turn. As we waited, more customers (pot growers) came in the store and when it was our turn, Ed moved on to the next waiting pot grower and blew us off. I was done so we left, but my wife talked me in to going back once again since it was raining today thinking he would have a bit more time for regular gardeners. We got less than a minute of one on one with Ed for as soon as a pot grower walked in the door with a pot leaf in a ziploc bag needing Ed's inspection, he couldn't ditch us fast enough. I overheard him say last week that legalized pot saved his business. Well Ed, with every gold rush, there comes a crash, and those of us customers that are not growing pot will remember how you treated us. We won't be back". read more

Don't believe the glowing reviews written about Redwood Nursery & the owner, Ed, which are probably written by friends or employees. My husband & I have NEVER been treated as badly as we were & were accused of not watering a plant we had purchased from him. We live on the coast where it has been ultra cool & damp this spring & summer & after driving 2 hours to bring him a dead specimen plant in a zip lock bag to compare to another one like it that was thriving we had a photo of on my cell phone. He would not stop long enough to listen to us nor take the time to find out what we wanted & yelled out loud: "NO REFUNDS! YOU DIDN'T WATER IT!" and scoffed off somewhere else. We absolutely did water it like the other plants we purchased from him & they were thriving. Most likely it had a fungus from the grower he purchased it from that caused its demise. It wilted from day one & would not revive with water, it just kept getting worse. Ed tried to bully us with his loud threat to make us go away & not have to deal with the problem. He has a short fuse & is a coward...a VERY unprofessional business owner. Why would anyone want to be subjected to his antics? Now that we know his refund/exchange policy, why would anyone want to shop here at all?! read more
