Schreffler Custom Wood Flooring

Schreffler Custom Wood Flooring

Short version: These guys were very knowledgeable, very helpful, and quick to respond. We had a…read moretough situation and they were up for the challenge. We love the way our hardwood floors look. They are worth the wait (booked 2-3 months out) Long version: We had water damage in our kitchen. We needed the damaged floor replaced and the rest of the first floor sanded and stained to match. No easy task since our floor was 17 years old. After they sanded, stained, and sealed the floor, we realized that the original builder (17 years ago) put a 2 foot by 10 foot strip of pink looking red oak in the middle of the white oak floorboards in the living room. This was imposible to see because of the tinted stain that was put on the floor to cover up the fact that the wood didn't match. Jon, our sales guy, came out on a Saturday to talk it over with us. They worked with us to squeeze us into their schedule despite being booked 3 months out. He even came and tore out the red oak himself since all of the other workers were tied up. They took out the red oak and put new white oak back in and now you can't tell at all. Honestly, I thought we were screwed. We did have to pay for them to come back to do it since it wasn't their screw up.

It looks beautiful, the perfect shade of brown and the satin finish is just what we wanted. The workmen were extremely personable and skilled at what they do. Communication with both them and the company was very good. I would highly recommend them.

A selfish company…read more I attempted to work with H&R as part of the Costco flooring program - they're the only participating installer in the Madison area. After not receiving any communication after numerous attempts to reach my initial rep I escalated to Costco. My original rep let me know they were quitting the job and turned me over to Amanda at H&R. My first conversation with Amanda I expected would be some form of apology for the misses on her employees behalf. Quite the contrary - I was told she was only reaching out to me as a courtesy. She clearly disliked the Costco program and had no concerns with how her employee had treated me. She really just continued the mistreatment and made it known she disliked having to even work with me at all. I was then told that the owner, Brent, wanted to make things right. I was asked to regather information they had not documented over the weeks I had worked with them. After getting it rounded up I was told H&R no longer wanted to work with me. 2 days after being told the owner wanted to make it right. After spending hours of my time trying to work with H&R and losing weeks of time they bailed. I spoke with the owner and he admitted he was doing it selfishly. The bit of extra time it would take them to try to make it right was not worth it to him. The time of mine they effectively wasted was inconsequential to them. This was a nearly $40,000 project that I had invested hours and hours of my time into and weeks of elapsed time waiting for communication back from them on. But because they didn't want to try they threw it, and my time, away. Scary to see a business admit to being selfish, by the owner no less. Beware.

On the day of the installation, we had paid an extra $25 for an extra helper to move the furniture. He was not available. When he did come to deliver the carpet, he dropped it on the bedroom floor causing a light fixture to break in the basement. The installer spoke to his boss and they gave us back the extra $25 for a reimbursment of the moving of furniture fee after I spoke to him. He did offer to pay for the light fixture that was broken but we were fine with the $25 being taken off. We more just wanted them to know that the carpet delivered was not handled well! Four months later, we received a voicemail from the owner laced with legal action and some heavy handed collection threats if we did not pay a balance that we owed. I called her back immediately and she said that she had left me many emails and messages in the past few months with no response. I told her I had not received them. I told her that I thought I had paid the bill in full after the installation and the 3/4 I had paid before the installation. She insisted that I had avoided her calls and emails. I asked if she had sent a hard copy to our home and she did not. She told me she had my credit card on file and would use it to pay the final balance with my permission. Since we were on vacation, I had no access to my check book or records. I told her to charge it out and apologized to her. We returned home the next day and I was able to bring up our cancelled checks from February. I had paid the bill so I scanned and sent the copy by email to her. I tried to call her but she was gone for the day. I sent her an email asking for an apology and a refund of the balance that was charged to my credit card. She sent me an email saying it was her accountants fault and she didn't mean to hurt my feelings and she would send out a check the next day for the overpayment they had charged. We got the overpayment by mail with no apology or concession of her error that started this whole fiasco. This could have been handled so much better, but it wasn't and they have lost any future business with us. They had wonderful workmanship but because of the unprofessional nasty experience with her, we can't recommend them.

We also had a separate dishwasher issue that required months of follow-up before ultimately failing and needing faulty parts replaced. Communication throughout the process was slow, inconsistent, and often required repeated effort from us just to receive basic updates. Although repairs were eventually completed and a partial credit was issued, Nonn's declined to provide any further accommodation despite the prolonged disruption and clear service breakdowns. The response from leadership made it clear that customer experience was not a priority once problems occurred. We made multiple good-faith attempts to resolve this privately. Based on how these issues were handled, we would not choose to work with Nonn's again and would encourage others to carefully consider their options before committing to a significant project.

They did not tell me they did this all they did was move a calendar we had put up with a magnet over the dent. it took getting a hold of the Waukesha Mgr. to try to get this situation fixed. After three weeks they brought a new refrigerator replacement but it had a bigger dent in it than the original. I finally made a deal with them to make a credit on my credit card and am just keeping the dented original refrigerator. I guess the worst part is that they damaged the fridge and tried to cover it up without telling me. My question is can you trust a company after they do something like this?

Surreal. This was my experience…read more We came into the showroom and were descended upon by a "designer." "Can I help you find anything?" Me: "I'm looking for a tile, 1" or 2" square with some color variation through it. It's for a shower we're remodeling." Designer: "Well, we have this marble that's nice. You could do a listello..." She shows us a sample board that's got all sorts of sculpted shapes and borders. Me: "I don't think we want stone. Just need tile. 1" or 2" square with some color variation through it." Designer: Gesturing to another board of fancy scmancy design elements "You could do something like this, with a listello..." Me: thinking "WTF is listello and why can't she just show us tile?" saying, "Really all we want is some kind of tile in a 1" or 2" square that might have some subtle color variation in it." Designer: (exasperated) "I don't know if I can help you if you can't tell me what you want." (I kid you not, she said this after I'd told her EXACTLY what I wanted multiple times.) Somehow we shook this thing off--I don't know how many times she said "listello" but to this day I twitch when I hear the word--and went into the next room and selected the floor tile by ourselves. In the end we went to another place where the staff were awesome and we literally found the tile we wanted within minutes of walking in the door. Bottom line: if you want to be verbally masturbated all over by a "designer" go to Nonn's. If you want tile, go anywhere else.

After extensive research and meetings with other builders, we selected Classic to build our home in…read more2012. We were not disappointed! Here are some comments about Classic's results/performance in several key areas: Quality: This may be where Classic made the greatest impression with us. Brian and the entire team set very high standards for quality, and it shows in their results. This includes high quality materials and craftsmanship, and valuable consultation with decisions. On numerous occasions, they helped steer us towards great style and other decisions that will ensure our long term satisfaction. We regularly receive compliments from friends and family about our home, and Classic deserves a lot of the credit. Communication: We had a true sense of partnership with Classic, and they did a great job keeping us updated along the way. Like many people in our situation, we were nervous and had lots of questions. Classic was responsive and consistently put our minds at ease. Cost/Budget: The process of putting together bids and cost estimates was very easy, and Classic provided accuracy and transparency throughout. The final cost was exactly what we expected, and it was less than the initial bids we had received from other builders. Schedule: Classic did a great job adhering to the planned schedule (which they shared with us along the way), and our home was completed in less than 4 months. Not only that, but we needed a place to live during construction (our previous house sold quicker than expected), and Classic provided us with a flexible arrangement at one of their rental properties. Standing Behind Their Work: In any construction project project, there will be things that didn't quite go as planned or that need follow-up work. A good measure of a service provider is how they handle these occurrences. We had a couple minor things (quality of work from a couple of the sub-contractors) that needed attention and Brian took care of everything quickly and at no extra cost. All in all, we were (and still are) extremely satisfied with our decision to have Classic build our home. We would definitely build with them again, and recommend them to anyone we know who is thinking about building a new home.

We built a Classic Custom Homes (CCH) house in the Lake Wisconsin area that was started in the fall…read moreof 2016 and finished in early 2017. We actually live in Maryland, and went back-and-forth to Wisconsin during the design and building of our home. We selected CCH after due diligence involving the opinions of local real estate agents, looking at an in-progress CCH home and asking questions of the future owners, attending the Madison area Parade of Homes, and checking out a completed spec home with Jennie (the builder's wife) in the Kilkenny Farms development just outside of Waunakee. Jennie really helped us decide on CCH, as she just seemed confident, knowledgeable, and above all, credible. The design process went well, as Brandon was both talented and easy to work with. Building a home is never stress-free, and this house was no exception. 2016 was the wettest year in Wisconsin history, and so the job site was extremely muddy. This made everything more difficult, starting with the ground and driveway being too soft for a cement truck to drive on. With the cement truck having to stay on the main road, cement for the foundation was delivered via "pump" system, which delivers cement via a series of long pipes. The "pump" system was a cost overrun, but given the operating environment, it was unavoidable. When the home was completed, it was not difficult to have the few "punch list" items corrected. Our completed house is everything we had hoped for: beautiful, well-made, and energy-efficient. We still live in Maryland, but plan to move to Wisconsin soon. We were away this past winter, and when we got to our CCH house this summer for the first time in about 8-9 months, we had a wet basement. Thus was likely due to a particularly brutal winter, with heavy snow and then a sudden thaw, and compounded by our not being here to keep snow away from the house. With our insurance company ruling that this was caused by "ground water", our claim was dismissed. However, Bryan of CCH has helped out a lot, first sending out a crew to remove wet carpeting, drywall, and trim, and then scheduling a crew for final remediation. Since our house was completed over two years ago, and we were absent for the entire winter, we are more than grateful for the assistance of CCH. Bryan can be blunt, it is true, but in my view he is also honest and helpful. We are at an age where we may never build another house, but if we do, it will be with Classic Custom Homes. Without reservation, I recommend this builder to anyone.
