I'm extremely disappointed and frustrated with how my order was handled. I placed an order for a highly anticipated product, received a confirmation, and was fully expecting delivery. Only to be told later that it was "canceled" due to some so-called inventory mix-up. This is completely unacceptable. Once an order is confirmed, customers should be able to trust that the company will honor it. Canceling after confirmation shows a serious lack of organization and respect for your customers' time and expectations. read more

This outdoor sports shop is amazing! I was helped by Jerod H. I am a large person who is looking for a bike so I could ride with my daughter. He took the time to compare bikes models, until we found the bike that I needed. I had an idea of what I wanted but he did not try to oversell me. He helped me select accessories, was very informative, and the price on my Trek was very decent. While we were checking out, my daughter mentioned that her bike needed work. Jerod told us to bring her bike in and they look at it immediately. Fix anything, she needed work on or make adjustment so she could ride comfortably. We went home, grabbed her bike, brought it in and Jerod knew immediately that her old bike was too small for her. He did NOT pressure us into buying her a new bike. My daughter tried to convince him to raise the seat so she could keep it. Jerod raised it and explained why this was no possible the seat was at the farthest setting and posture was going to be a problem. My daughter is autistic so change can be very hard. Jerod was clear about her new need, and she was actually excited to look at a new bike. My daughter absolutely needed everything from her old Bike moved to the new Bike. Jerod said,"no problem!" This shop does it all! Jerod asked us to bring in anything that we wanted added to the bike and anything we had at home that we wanted to put on our bike. I had a basket for my pup, and we added some other accessories. The shop had my bike Built out of the box and ready with my daughter's bicycle parts changed out in less than two days. I love my new Trek it rides smooth the mechanics of the low step in are fantastic for my rebuilt knees! My daughter is so I love with her new bike, she rode 4 times yesterday after we got them home!! The whole process from shopping, purchase, build, and review before taking our bikes home was smooth. Jerod made feel comfortable and confident in our purchases. I went in looking for one bicycle and ended up buying two. If the store had unfriendly people in it, or if I felt judged I would've left and spent a couple thousand dollars elsewhere. Recommend the store highly. Everyone in the shop was friendly. I didn't feel judged because of my size. My daughter was comfortable with all of the staff members in the building. There is so much more than bikes in this store (they have your outdoor needs) and my daughter loves the outdoors so we will be returning to get our products and purchase things from the store because They are wonderful to work with and they do care if you're getting out and enjoying your life! Everyone there is so nice, patient with questions, they know their products and they are fun. I came into the store with my friends so they could rent a pair or snow shoes. I ended up coming back in the following day to purchase some awesome Patagonia capilene on the sale rack. I got a steal and I am so happy with my products! More importantly I feel safe with my purchases. IMT told me to bring my capilene back in if I wasn't happy with them. I also bought a pair or wool socks and not only does the manufacture guarantee their product for EVER no matter what, IMT said to bring them back in at any time if something ever happens to them. Absolutely satisfied with the welcoming and kind staff and service that Idaho Mountain Touring provides. I'm a beginner Backpacker so asking questions on a new outdoor activity can be a bit much, but I never feel judged when I have questions or need tips when I come here. John and Emma were the two employees who helped me. They were incredibly patient and John was awesome and knowledgeable at showing me the ropes on proper sizing, adjustments, and parts of the Backpack I never thought to ask such as the strapping compartments that I should pay attention to. I came there concerned about being stuck between sizes so I brought in the two different sized backpacks I bought. They were both nice about taking time to help me figure out what would work best for my size, putting in the weight in the backpacks and everything as a test drive, which made me feel more at ease before heading into the outdoors. In the end, I found the proper size that I felt and fit me the best. Definitely head in if you are looking for valuable service and adequate time for each of their customers. read more

I won't go anywhere else for my bike needs. After visiting a rude, now closed, bike shop in the N. End and getting a dose of snobbery from the staff, a friend sent me to IMT. Their service was a welcome change from what I'd previously experienced. I'm an out-of-shape poser on a cute cruiser bike and they have always been helpful whenever I've been in there, despite my ineptness when it comes to anything outdoor-related. My husband also has an abnormally large head due to his dreadlocks and IMT went above and beyond finding him a helmet. Nice people, and a good place to go to get you bike in tip-top shape. read more

I consider Idaho Mountain Touring the local experts in back country skiing. My Dynafit bindings were found to be defective by their tune up shop. Luckily they noticed this before I became defective in the back country. It is certainly wise to take your gear for a checkup every year or two. It's cheaper than tearing an ACL. Due to my unfortunate binding defect, they were nice enough to set me up with a discount binding and free mounting. They also sold me a discount ski pole half to fix my broken one. Even ordered a buckle for my ski boots. What more could I ask for!! Certainly a knowledgeable crew that will treat you right. My wife and I went with my son and his children to buy bikes for two of them. We were greeted promptly and an hour later left with two very nice bikes for the kids and I was so impressed that I went back later in the day and got a bike for me. I had quit riding many years ago due to carpal tunnels, but have been meaning to get back on since I had the carpal tunnel surgery a couple of years ago. Julia took great care of me and helped me find a comfortable seat for my tired old rear end that does NOT like skinny seats. Visited Boise and loved the opportunity to ride one of their mountain bike trails. IMT was a great choice for bike rentals, information, service, and skilled suggestions. As it related to the rentals, they asked all the right questions: height, weight, skill level, preferences, comfort, etc. Their knowledge of the local trails was also evident and they were extremely happy to provide suggestions and advice. This is the best bike shop! We needed a small part for one or our ebikes. After six disappointing calls to other ebike stores in various western states, we were impressed by the response we received from Idaho Mountain Touring. The tech guy said,"send me a photo and I'll call you back within an hour." And, he followed through by returning our call, locating and ordering the part. We were so impressed after having waiting over 90 days for this same part from another dealer, we drove 700 miles to get our two bikes tuned up. My husband and I rented two demo mountain bikes (Ibis and Liv) for an afternoon ride on Around the Mountain. The staff was super-friendly, found our reservation and set up the bikes quickly, and made sure we knew all the bells and whistles on the demo bikes before sending us on our way. Just meh.. I went in to check out the clothing and get a bathing suit (it's now officially summer)... The bathing suit selection was pretty scant. I found a Patagonia bathing suit top I liked but they only had one in a medium and one in a large- I need a small... For $55 I'd like to get a top that fits. Disappointed by the experience. The saving grace is that the store had a nook with kids toys to keep them busy. Oh well, maybe next time. read more

We had only a few hours in Boise but really wanted to ride the green belt with our 7-yr-old. The Green Bikes (city rental bikes) were fine for us but they don't work for kids. We called multiple places before we found IMT - at the time, the only place to rent a kid bike(!). The bike was fit to his body, helmet included in the rental, and our son was very happy with the ride. They were very helpful in planning our time and accommodating our schedule. Next time we come to town, we will rent the adult bikes from them too. read more

The wife & I decided on our last day in Boise, the best way to take full advantage of the greenbelt was to bike it. We Yelped & found Idaho Mountain Touring. It was a short walk from The Grove (where we were staying) & upon entering the premisis, we noted that it was nicely layed out & greeted with enthusiasm. The girl behind the main counter pointed us in the right direction for the bike counter & Dax came out to help us out with rentals. Dax & his crew were very helpful in fitting us with a couple of rental bikes. All they had this day were a couple of road bikes which I didn't mind, but the wife was a bit hesitant as she's much more a cruiser or mtb rider. While throwing on peds on the road bikes, a couple of automatic 3-speed cruisers made their way back to the shop. Before my wife could open up her soup-cooler, a crew member asked if we'd be more comfortable with these bikes! The wifey swiftly jumped on the opportunity. They adjusted the seats for us, adjusted the price & deposit, filled out some paperwork & we were out of there in about 15 minutes. FYI: one of many greenbelt entrances to the bike path is just a few short blocks just south of Idaho Mountain Tours (straight down 13th) and a 4 hour bike rental is more than enough time to see a good percentage of the greenbelt. Dex, one of the salesman lied to me and said there were Grizzly bears in the Sawtooth Wilderness. I knew that black bears roam the Sawtooth Wilderness, but was not inclined to buy bear mace to protect our group from black bears, whom have relatively calm demeanors. Thus, I bought a $50 can of bear mace by relying on Dex's aforementioned false information. I went back to get a refund and the person in charge was not understanding of the situation at all. Worst customer service ever. read more

Then a week after I ordered it and it is paid in full, he leaves me a voicemail end of business day to tell me the color will not be in until October!
