I am deeply disappointed with highly unethical and unprofessional treatment my wife and I received from Reed Optical https://www.reedoptical.com/ at both Clermont Office and the Sunapee Office. We first visited the Claremont Office in May, the examination was extremely quick and hasty. It was definitely the least thorough examination we have ever experienced. When we arrived to pickup the glasses (4 pairs in total) they were all wrong - they were definitely worse than our old pairs! We were advised to try them which we did but after a few days it was even more clear that they were all wrong. We requested another visit with the doctor to fix the problem. That time we went to the Sunapee Office. The examination was much longer. We pickup up the glasses two weeks later. My wife's glasses were not perfect but there was an improvement over the previous pairs and my wife decided to keep them. I got two pairs - one was OK but the other one, for driving, was terrible, much worse than the previous one. The prism correction was set incorrectly and I saw double image! They advised me to still try them at home which I hesitantly agreed to, but after a few days, it was clear they did not work at all. They finally agreed to partially (70% rather than 100%) reimburse me for the wrong pair of glasses. I also used my vision and medical insurance allowance, which means that now I am not eligible for insurance coverage for the next two years! Highly unfair, basically cheating I have no driving glasses but they costs me hundreds. read more

After charging Medicare for my eye exam, I had to pay additional charges and when I asked for my pupillary distance I was told I had to pay another fee. They're greedy. the last pair of glasses from Reed cost me $802.00. If I know my pupillary distance I can get the same glasses from Zenni for $125.00. read more

Unreasonable. I went in to get a screw from the temple of my glasses. I asked if could buy a screw for the temple. The man in back said -- to service (install this) they would charge $15 minimum for repair. I asked if I could buy one, and he said there was inventory control. I've never heard of such a thing for the screws for the temple of glasses. read more

I have been with Reed Optical since we moved to Claremont about 15 years ago. I have stayed due to convenience, but finally had enough and found a new provider. The eye exams are not thorough and I usually feel rushed out of my appointment. Last year's exam was less than 10 minutes long. I told the doctor I was not seeing the same, that things were blurrier. He acted like it was no big deal and did not change my prescription or give me a more thorough exam. I had a recent issue with contacts being back ordered (and most likely discontinued) and was not told this was the issue until I was at a desperate point in needing more. I find the staff condescending about our family being private pay, and when I had to cancel an appointment, I was treated rudely and told I would have to pre-pray from now on. This punishing treatment is why I am moving on to a new provider who will provide better treatment of people and better patient care. When I told them that I would not be rescheduling and wanted a refund for the half payment I had already made on my contacts, I was told there was a 20% restocking fee, so I would not be refunded the entire amount - for something that was their fault. I'm done, and I would never recommend Reed Optical to anyone, which is sad that I have to say that after being there for so many years. read more

I am very pleased with the service at Reed Optical. The doctors and staff are very welcoming. I really like that they use e-mail and text messaging to confirm appointments, and that they provide the ability to request an appointment online. read more

I will not use these people again. My exam went so quick. I told the doctor it was blurry, but he rushed me out. Glasses came two weeks later. First time with no-line bifocals. Going home I can't read road signs. Get home and cant read the numbers on alarm clock. Call them. The lady tells me I need to get used to them and to wear them for two weeks. I try to tell her that I cannot see clearly at all. Finally get another appointment for a week later. Doctor asks what is the problem. I said I cannot see clearly. He says, " but you can read it, so you can see it." I say, " but not clearly". He shrugged. Then he did a new exam. Guess what? Prescription was different cause this time I wouldn't tell him a single letter until it was clear. Another two weeks and finally my glasses come. The lady says, " the doctor tweaked the prescription for you." No. It was a new prescription because he got it wrong the first time. They never apologized. read more

The staff are very nice, but the prices are outrageous. I had to pay 650 out of pocket even after my insurance kicked in some. They offer free maintenance and a full refund within a year if you are dissatisfied. read more

People are friendly, but terrible service. Do not waste your time. I paid for an eye exam and new lenses for my glasses, and explained I wanted contacts as well. Was told no problem, we'll add this to your exam and we keep contacts in stk. Came back to pick up new lenses and they damaged them during install, and had to wait another 2 weeks for replacements. Then was told I'd have to pay additional fees for contact fitting, and would have to wait for those as well as they had none in stock. Waited another 2 weeks and never heard anything, so I called them and was told the prescription was messed up and would have to wait another 2 weeks. Round 3 slightly better, but again damaged the lenses. Called insurance company and they authorized a partial refund. When I wasn't refunded after a couple weeks, I called and they pretended like they had no idea what I was talking about. So I again contacted my insurance and finally received a small reimbursement. 2 months later I had a damaged set of glasses and some of my money back. This review is intended for the Reed Optician Clinic in Claremont. I was there on June 27th for an eye appointment, they were all so nice to me. I placed an order for glasses which costs at least $500 and paid half of it at the time of the visit. I went home and an hour later I had to call them to cancel the order for glasses because my partner thinks it is very expensive and we found a cheaper one, then they got so mad at me and said I was rude on the phone. I felt soo bad cancelling that order but I had to take my partner's decision too. I can only understand why they would be mad at me cancelling the entire order - It was a substantial sale for the day, I should have not placed it in the first place - I was probably too excited about the glasses. They finally cancelled the order after two calls and after two attempts of pushing my request back. Now, I have been waiting for my prescription for almost two weeks now. They said they sent it on the 27th of June but until now I have not received it. I called them again on the 5th, they said they will mail it again. Everytime I call them, they always make me feel like I am causing them the hassle, and I don't know why they say I am rude on the phone and keeps hunging up on me. I have been working in the customer service industry and that is not how I treat callers. I paid for my prescription, they shouldn't make me beg for it. I am so disappointed. I deeply apologize for having to cancel the order but I had to. Thank you for cancelling it. I called them again today and asked them to fax it to my office instead. I got it now and I am glad this battle came to an end. It was always a struggle for me trying to get the prescription. I had a co-worker listen to me today with the way I talk to them because I wonder why they tell me I'm rude. It's probably because English is not my first language? But my co-worker said I was fine. It didn't sound rude so I wonder why they would say that to me everytime I call, they would say Im rude and hang up everytime I ask about my prescription. So that's it. I am never going back to them. I hope it didn't happen to other people like me. Now, I'm kind of thinking that, maybe they were like that to me because I am a minority? I hope this is not the case.
