We found this Seafood Market and went for Shrimp, local shrimp. Got the "Mayport Shrimp" and were not disappointed. Had to peel and devein but worth the effort. Nice selection of other seafood items and the folks working there were helpful and polite. read more

Have been to Reel Deal many times and have never had a bad experience - even with a crazy huge order for New Years Eve. Mitch and his staff are always helpful, patient and downright pleasant to deal with. Our to when available: hogfish, grouper, scallops and of course local shrimp. Our new seafood go to! We have been twice in two days! Today was shrimp we turned into Alfredo and yesterday we got mangrove snapper, grouper, and flounder. There's a not-quite-so-new anymore fish market on the south side of Saint Augustine... and it's magnificent! Well, I should say it is small but it is might. Previously I had sworn my allegiance to an excellent fish market north a spell from Reel Deal, that had amazing local shrimp. When I asked about where the Mahi was from, without hesitation--or remorse or regret--they shared the country in South America where it was caught. That experience made me think local Mahi may have been a vestige of the past. But no! Reel Deal has the real deal! Locally caught mahi and it was just some of the best mahi I've ever had. To be fair, I was on vacation, and it's been proven that food tastes better on vacation. Still. Wow. And the shrimp? Just as good as the other place. The fellow was even happy to devein a pound and a half of them for us on the spot... by hand! Well, he had a tool, but still. Plus there is more. The oysters looked great, and there was a snapper that I snapped a picture of because its eye was just so damn clear. I think this is all to say that the bar for fish markets in St. Augustine is high, and this place may have gone and raised it up a notch. If you are in the area, you owe it to yourself to pop in and grab some shrimp. Again... some of the best shrimp I've had in my life. These are words that I do not use lightly. Locally sourced. Shrimp is neither fresh nor local. Tried this place based on glowing YELP reviews and let me tell you, I am VERY disappointed in my fellow yelpers for leading me astray. **When you post a glowing review as a favor to a friend, and the product is no good, you are only setting up customers for disappointment!** And disappointed we were. Try any of the other fish markets along A1A, but skip this one. read more

Feb & March 25 we frequented the Reel Deal. The seafood was excellent and very fresh. They know their product and prepare a few specially seasoned, just pop it in the oven or on the grill items. The information for preparation was excellent! Highly recommend!!! read more

We used to like this "fresh seafood" place but not anymore. The we got Smoked Salmon and Salmon Chip Dip several times. The last Smoked Salmon tasted different like it was farmed Salmon and was mushy. The Salmon Dip tasted different too. We ate both and didn't finish either of them. That was the things we ate that night. Then the middle of night, I woke up and threw up several times and had severe diarrhea. I didn't feel well the next day. So ... buy "fresh seafood" there at your own risk. read more
