Came in today 6/29/23 with my aunt. We needed beef chunks and ox tail. Upon walking in it was a cold feel. There was an older woman behind the counter which I believe said hello, but nothing else. No "how may I help you," etc. We walked around to the meat counter, asked the man (older man) if he had oxtail he said only on the weekends. We were conversing in Spanish, and well got an eye like it was a crime I looked around a bit and then ordered 2lbs of beef chunks and two pieces of meat that looked similar to a a small sirloin. My total came out to $79!!!' I could not believe what I was hearing! If he didn't already pack it I would have left it. Customer service was very bad. I will not be back.

Owners information. Mr. Nel does not respond to texts. They are a couple from South Africa.

This location was an ABC liquor back in the day, now a butcher shop. Meat was excellent!!!!!!!!!! Service good. Parking a plenty. Nice and clean displays, etc. Prepped to-cook food, huh, no. See photos.

Look how pretty that steak is

They moved into the old Diane's next to the dojo on A1A. Biltong aka South African beef jerky. You want the beef jerky. It's amazing and nothing like you've ever had before. And nothing you can easily find in the US. Super fresh grass fed beef -- and the one meat cut that I cannot find at Publix -- SKIRT STEAK. This is essential for your carne asada / taco adventures. Thin cut and perfect amount of fat. Absolutely beautiful.

Dry wors & biltong..

Overpriced meats. 82.00 for three ribeyes. A little tough for expensive steak. Disappointed

Really really good options in terms of prepared foods: lasagne, salmon, steak, bread pudding, breads. Excellent quality.

I've searched high and low for good biltong in my 22 years in the US and now have a great source right around the corner.

Perhaps it has something to do with the halo effect of being on vacation, but I loved Fisherman's…read moreDock. Could I have really come here three times in five days? I think I did. The first time was shrimp and mahi. The second time was shrimp, mahi, conch fritter batter, and oysters. The third time was for even more shrimp. Are you picking up on a trend? When shopping anywhere, it's clutch to go for the local options, and here it was the shrimp. The largest, local shrimp were just $10 a pound, and they were fabulous. I could eat them every day. Um... I think I pretty much did eat them every day. In part, that is thanks to the flippin' amazing cocktail sauce. Which isn't local. But that doesn't make it any less kickass amazeballs. Kelchner. Remember the name. Delightful, delightful stuff. Even if it happens to be made in Allentown, PA. They have been making it since 1938, when folks weren't fooling around with subpar ingredients. Of course, in St. Augustine we had some datil pepper hot sauce too. The staff was great. All of our questions were answered about where the fish came from. Oysters from Canada. Mahi from Central America (I forget where, maybe Honduras). I appreciated how you could order whole fish, and they would prepare them for you. That way you can inspect the gills and the eyes to pick the best one. We never called ahead to have shrimp peeled and deveined, but the fee per pound to do so felt like a pittance. Most of my shrimp consumption came in the form of boil, peel, and eat, which is good because it slows me down a bit. I shudder to think how many shrimp I would have consumed if they were all ready to shove into my shrimp hole. Without a doubt I'll be back the next time I am in town, which hopefully won't be too long.

I will say the only thing I don't like about Winn-Dixie is that Although they put all their BOGOS…read more in one area, which is great, they tend to intermingle them with items that are the same, but are not part of the Bogo's, so beware when you're doing BogoS. For instance, this week, the Voortman crackers were on sale, and there were peanut butter, chocolate and vanilla all in the same huge table, but the small print said that only the peanut butter's were the ones that were Bogo. Same for the bag salads. All in the same area, but it was only one type of bag salad that was a Bogo and this was very small print. AND they don't have baggers like the supermarket get down the street with the green logo. But their prices are pretty good, and the aisles are free of impediments.

There are more cashiers and employees to deal with the increased shoppers and the store is better stocked. Even when Publix was open we came here for the fried chicken, which is always good and better than other grocery stores. They recently added a large selection of paperback books, probably for summer reading by tourists. It's off to the far left when you enter the store, near the section of items for beachgoers.
