C'est Bon! I was so excited to come to this Cajun grocery…read morestore! This store is located in Breaux Bridge, which is the crawfish capitol of the world, so you know it's gotta be good. Walking in, you can see that they are serious about keeping things cool- this is one of very few grocers that I've seen that sells huge blocks of ice, not little cubes in a bag, but big bricks of the cold stuff. Inside the store, you'll see all kinds of Cajun foods that you can't get in Yankee land. I enjoyed looking through their pre-made foods for their southern style cooking. Be sure to check out their sandwiches. Everything looked delicious! Someone makes them some of their local foods- I got some pepper jelly that was made especially for this location! The store was a bit dated, and not as fancy as some that you may have been in, but it makes up for it in charm. They have lots of the best Cajun brands, as well as some national ones as well. The prices were a bit higher than some other stores, but you're out here in the bayou, so it's hard to get. The clerks were friendly though. There's a small liquor store in the corner of the store. They sell all the national brands, but don't expect anything wild.

This store has been opened ever since I was a child, and it brings so much joy and nostalgia to…read morereturn to it looking the same way it once did, while also being up-kept! The ambiance of the store is very quaint. It's your small town grocery, and has been convenient and reliable for decades! Every time I'm in town, my granny needs me to grab something from Hebert's! I couldn't avoid the place if I tried! The service is always pretty good, and they seem to have always leaned toward younger employees who are still in school or recently graduated. I love that they offer young people job opportunities, as they seem hard for people to come by in Breaux Bridge! I love that the store still offers a customer service window that used to help my gramps and granny with checks. They have an ATM as well. The food and groceries are always good! They pretty much have everything you need as long as you aren't vegan or have any sort of gluten or dairy restrictions! This isn't the store for all that! Lol. But they pretty much are a 1 stop shop, and even have a hot bar for hot foods. I remember lining up for their hot food as a kid. Great memories! And yes, they still have the soda machines outside! This place will always hold a special place in my heart, and I'm glad it's being well taken care of.

Since I was in the area, I decided to drop in for a plate lunch. I ordered the catfish strips,…read moredressing, and white beans. The catfish strips were mostly breading and skin, with very little actual catfish meat. Aany meat found in these strips was like finding a prize. The white beans had no flavor at all. It tasted like they opened a can, dumped it into the tray, and warmed it up. At least they gave a generous amount which I was able to doctor up once I got home. I didn't eat the dressing, but someone else did. She said it was cold at least it had some flavor unlike the beans.I'm not sure if this was a one-day thing or it's now something that's fairly regular. But the food was a lot better when I worked in the area about a decade ago. The food at the Grand Point location is so much better.
