First, the technician knew what he was doing and gave me a new working car fob within about 15 minutes of the time he arrived. Now, to explain the low score. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was late in the evening, I couldn't find my key and I had an appointment I had to arrive at Noon the next day, so I went to Yelp to see if I could find an automotive locksmith to come out in time for me to make it to my appointment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Several responded, but I took the first one, Rafael 24/7, because it had 5 stars[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. After corresponding- and I've checked my text history - I asked what the rate would be and at 10:23pm was told 'between $150 and $250 depending' on the issues. I felt that was reasonable so instead of contacting any of the others that responded [[HIGHLIGHT]]I made arrangements for a technician from Rafael 24/7 to come to my home between 9:30 and 10am the next morning[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I got up, showered and the looked at my emails. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I saw there were a few messages from the tech around 8:37 - 8:43 saying he had tried to call me - that I was not answering so he was going to another customer[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I guess I was in the shower. In the morning, 45 minutes before the window for the appointment was supposed to start. I think that's reasonable. I immediately called the company but it was too late. When I complained to the company the response was that every business calls before they come. I know that, but generally they call 15 minutes before they come to let you know they are on their way. Not 45 minutes before. The tech didn't arrive until 11:30 but he did complete the work. However, he charged me $350! I said I was quoted $150-$250 and I asked to speak to the owner. The owner said the price I was quoted didn't include an $80 service fee. I have the texts and I re- read them. Besides, he charged me $100 more than the highest price he quoted. [[HIGHLIGHT]]He started to say he's would lower the service fee to $37. But I couldn't hear the whole sentence because the technician grabbed the phone out of my hands and said he was an independent contractor (so he wasn't from Refael 24/7) and his work was 'security' and he wasn't lowering his price[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. As I was paying, because I was really stuck, I told them that I would recount to Yelp exactly what just happened. This was a very upsetting experience and I certainly would not recommend using this company. I have kept a record of all the correspondence. read more
