Jim Duffy Is great. He loves what he does and is more than willing to share what he knows. If you grow peppers, this is the place to go.

For $30 I got a tri tip sandwich and a 2 meat plate with brisket and pulled pork, sides were macaroni salad(generic), bbq baked beans (can) and waffle fries (greasy/soggy and had to put them in the air fryer when I got home). Well nothing has changed, everything is still dry dry dry.... sides definitely aren't fresh/homemade, they're can/packaged/frozen. Lakeside is in need for good down home fresh homemade BBQ. Unfortunately this isn't it. Hopefully they take this review as an opportunity to make some adjustments and make it better.

Sofia got the order all wrong, and to make things worse they charged me double. My wife called and asked to speak to to the owner, not there, no problem. Asked to speak to the manager and waited on the phone for quite a bit. Finally a man came on the phone and said "he's busy" in a very rude manner. We don't expect people to understand how hard it is to spend the day without food or water until sun down. What we DO expect is that employees to be at least professional when dealing with customers. I guess "he's busy" sums up the regard the manager has for the people who put food on his table. I used to be a customer of their store in Chula Vista since 2014, when we moved here in 2021 we continued being customers to the Lakeside store. Even though we have bought several items that were perished (lentils with bugs) we continued being loyal customers and have NEVER once complained. From now on it will be Lulu's (Vine Ripe) where at least I know the food is halal and fresh. The manager insulted me in Spanish thinking I wouldn't understand, he then said to another employee in Spanish "estos Árabes no saben poner a sus mujeres en su lugar como nosotros los mexicanos". If they think so poorly about middle eastern people, why work for one? Maybe they need to change personnel around.

Natalie definitely knows how to make an Old Fashioned--carefully handcrafted and finished with an orange peel. It doesn't get much better than that. This experience was a complete turnaround from my last visit, when I sat for quite a while without a greeting or any service. Other customers who arrived after me were served first, so I eventually walked out. Amanda and Ashley , thank you for addressing my previous review and making things right. Great job by Natalie and the team. I'll be back.

I ended up getting the breakfast burrito without the bacon to make it vegetarian and it was sooooo good. The salsa it came with was a wonderful mild red salsa. I would definitely order this breakfast burrito again. Plus the burrito was only $12.95, that is not bad at all. I also loved that they host a lot of fun themed nights and events. This really seems like a fun place to work and attend regularly, I wish it was closer to me. The day I went all the of the staff were dressed in PJs because they had a PJ party event planned for that evening. They had indoor seating as well as an outdoor back patio. Plenty of seating and plenty of TVs.
