Popcorn is one of my favorite snacks. So when I can find it in Cheddar Cheese, Caramel and Kettle I must buy some. I had forgotten about this location in the mall. When I worked at Parkway Plaza in the past I would always come here to pick up popcorn. It's a small shop with standing room only and plenty of popcorn choices. The guy helping me today was attentive and funny. You order your fresh Caramel, Cheese, and Kettle popcorn by a number which represents a certain size and price, one being the smallest box and the less expensive and 5 being the best bang for your buck and of course the plain butter popcorn comes in various sizes and price points. Today I ordered the number four it cost $7.89(I was trying to be good and watch my calories), you can mix any combination of the popcorn, I did cheese and kettle today. They also sell popcorn in the tin buckets, popcorn balls, Candy and Caramel apples, Icees and some other tasty treats. Oh my gosh! My mouth is screaming!! I got the Dark Chocolate Oreo w/ Caramel apple and it was one of the most delicious apples ive ever had in my 33 years of life!!! The apple itself wasn't sour and not too sweet so it balance out the additional toppings. The lady cut the apple for me, i let her know I wanted to eat it now. I bit into one of the slices and the caramel was sooo soft and easy to bite into and the chocolate was not too sweet and it wasn't bitter. The combined flavor of the apple, caramel, dark chocolate and the taste of oreo was definitely one of the best explosions of flavors. I give them 5 stars hands down! Like plastic containers, huge tins and smalle tins. But really, I am not buying popcorn to give to anyone but myself when I stop by here.. They have caramel, cheese and butter. I am a fan of plain popcorn and cheese popcorn. I buy both. The cheesey popcorn can be overwhelming in flavor. Mix it with butter popcorn. Or I even mix it with plain white popcorn. The sizes are a bit confusing on the board. They do not say small, medium or large. So you have to tell them the which bag it is on the wall. One time when I ordered my popcorn the man behind the counter got cranky at me because I told him the medium bag. And he corrected me and said do you mean the bag in the middle? Umm. Yes please. To the female worker working on Memorial Day around 3:00pm at the register you need to be fired! You're so rude it was almost embarrassing. We had two small popcorns after almost walking away after such a rude response to basic questions in regards to their items. The kettle corn is so tacky and dry it has an old taste. The cheese popcorn was still wet as it had just been made and was smearing everywhere. Gross mess. She poured way too much and ended up putting our small bags into bigger trash bags to hold the overflow. You might as well have given us bigger size bags or a bucket. If you know about the "Chicago Mix" this place is for you! Unless you make a trip to Vegas or Chicago to "Garrett's", you won't find better popcorn. It would seem like it's hard to screw up popcorn but they did. Went in with my elderly mother because she had been craving popcorn. She went to pay with the card and was told she had to pay a $0.25 service fee on a $7.50 check. She questioned the kid several times and he said, "Yes because it costs so much to process credit cards." She said that seemed silly and he just told her,"No we charge everyone." My mother who is very sharp pointed to a large sign on the register stating, "A service fee of $0.25 will be charged on all orders under $5.00" Now I'm no math genius, but I'm pretty sure 7 is larger than 5. That being said, my mom really wanted popcorn. I didn't have any cash so she dug around in her purse to pay while the kid still stared at us. Annoyed she took the popcorn and began munching. Rude Remarks by employee made my 9 year old niece lose her appetite. Took my niece shopping today, I haven't been to Parkway in many years and after our shopping I was excited to take her over to carmelcorn to get her a treat. The employee comes up to us the second we walked up and he had an annoyed demenor. I told him that we needed a few moments to decide what she wanted to get. He then let out a big sigh. While she was looking around at all of her choices I told the employee that I was excited to bring my niece to the place that I used to go to as a kid. He then goes on to say in a sarcastic tone "we've only been here for 21 years" Im in my early thirties and even if I was older that was a rude comment implying that I was old. My niece then told me she didn't want anything. As we walked away she asked me if he was being mean. Even a child recognized his rude behavior. Since I was a wee little lad I have gone to Carmelcorn back I think in the late 60's when college grove was just a simple outdoor mall way before all the others with a newburrys, walker scott, woolworths, and longs drugs which is the only one still there i think. Anyway Carmelcorn was right next to orange julius so you could go into one and without going outside you could go into the other business. Back then we had a down stairs with kson 1240 and later 97.3fm and the business office and a community room and that was it. I would go there and get cheesecorn as even though carmelcorn is ok the cheesecorn was something you could not get anywhere else back then. They left and moved maybe 20 years ago or more, not sure, but I was sure glad to see Mary and her daughter Brianna who was just a little kid then and would always kick me in the shin. She is very pretty now but kind of young like maybe in her late 30's now i think. Ok so for a rating, you can't get it any better especially with the big fad of kettle corn which is kind of a light form of carmelcorn but not as slurpee, like. If you want the best of either, this is the place and if you buy a tin of some kind as I have a Padre one which I refilled at only 10 bucks so i'd say I've saved at least 10 bucks since the tin probably costs that much but its worth it. I only have a problem with all her Coke stuff being an avid Dr Pepper fan but outside of that its a great place to go. Its just down the row from j c penny on the east side of parkway plaza. These guys were amazing when the people from my son's 4th birthday party flaked on me. I had a movie night planned, with a popcorn machine, and when nobody showed with it (or the bouncer/chair and tables/AND movie screen) these employees hooked me up with insane amount of DELICIOUS popcorn for a great price in a jiffy. The popcorn couldn't have tasted better, and it still tastes good almost 3 weeks later. This place has the best cheese corn and carmel corn that I've ever had. I remember this same store from way way back when they were located in College Grove Shopping Center. One of my fondest memories was being treated as a child to a bag of cheese pop corn. I also remember the delicious pralines they once had.
