I'm leaving this review to document my experience at Atlas Dental Specialists (Shadyside) for two…read morefront-tooth crowns. While the office is professional on the surface, my experience overall was extremely frustrating and costly. After my permanent crowns were placed, I developed persistent sensitivity in my right front tooth (cold and hot) that did not improve over time. I also felt a noticeable ledge/step on the back side of the crown near the gumline, which made me concerned about the fit/contour. Aesthetically, the crowns also looked longer and bulkier than expected with heavier incisal edges than what I was aiming for. When I tried to address these concerns, I was advised to pay for additional diagnostics (a wax diagnostic). After I paid for it, the office later terminated the patient-provider relationship instead of completing the planned corrections. What made the situation especially difficult was the refund process: the office confirmed in writing the refund amounts, but repeatedly stated the refund would only be processed if I signed a broad "release/indemnification" agreement exactly as written. The agreement was extremely one-sided. It went far beyond acknowledging a refund and included sweeping waivers and protections for the office, along with a "non-disparagement/online statements" section that, in my view, would discourage patients from speaking openly online about their experience. I was not comfortable signing something like that just to receive an agreed refund. Overall, I'm deeply disappointed by how concerns were handled. The communication and resolution process felt dismissive and, at times, misleading - more focused on protecting the office than responsibly addressing the problem. My takeaway is that the approach felt money-driven, and I left feeling I couldn't trust the process. I would encourage anyone considering treatment here to do thorough due diligence and not rely solely on online ratings.

Made an appointment. They called and changed it. It was not a convenient date for me (the one I…read morehad previously scheduled was) but I took it anyway. Arrived early. Appointment was for 10:20. That time came and went. I asked when I'd be seen and they said "we're running late." (At 10:18, I had asked if they were running late and was told that they were not.) At 10:25 I asked the receptionist how long my appointment would take. Was told an hour. Well, I'm already ten minutes into my lunch hour and had expected to be seen at my appointment time. I said "nevermind, I'm leaving; you can keep my money" (had to make a $25 deposit before anything happened at all). They said "have a nice day," and I said "f*ck off." (Yeah -- i know that's wrong, but was so frustrated, and also I'm old and have no filter.) It's a downtown office and downtown workers obviously use them and can't be away from work for hours on end because a dentist doesn't keep appointment times.) This place has zero respect for patients' time, but theirs is SO important that I received NUMEROUS texts in the days leading up to my appointment. "...you have an appointment reserved with Atlas Dental Specialists on Wed, Oct 1st at 10:20 AM." And ".."please respond with C to confirm your appointment with Atlas Dental Specialists for October 1st at 10:20 am. If your appt is missed, or cancelled / rescheduled with less than 48 hours' notice, a fee of $50/hour of appt time will apply." So obviously THEIR time is important. Just not their patients' time. Also, every appointment is "separate." Cleaning is one. Examination is another. It's all about money money money with this place. They did refund my $25 deposit though. Terrible place. And now I have to find a dentist.

This is a lengthy review, so settle in! I honestly cannot say enough good things about this place…read more Let's start with I neglected my teeth for a very long time and was ashamed to even start the process of fixing things with me teeth. This is the first time in 34 years of life that I did not cry at the dentist! I had a dental emergency and needed a tooth extracted ASAP! I looked online for places with good reviews (because I finally got insurance and didn't need to go to cheap questionable places lol) and this places reviews SHINED and were so on point! As a new patient, I was concerned it would be difficult to get in quick. I was greeted on the phone by Cindy who went above and beyond to comfort me on the phone as I was panicking in pain. They couldn't get me same day but got me in the following day. Cindy gave me advice on how to get through the night with minimal pain and told me if they had any cancellation she would call me right away. So Sweet. She was heaven sent to me at my worst time! Warwick Dentistry a literal hidden gem nestled into the bottom on the BNY Mellon Building. Parking is normal downtown parking in BNY's lot off of Ross street. Easy to navigate and also really clean for a downtown lot! I didn't feel unsafe in the parking lot at all actually! Office was clean and inviting! When I came in, I was greeted by the amazing Cindy who helped me the night prior and she was just as delightful in person! The Dental assistants (Brittany and Christine, I believe were their names, I was ridden with anxiety so excuse me if I got the names wrong) they so kind and patient with me as the x-rays were difficult to get because I couldn't really bite down. They were so gentle and took their time with me, it was so appreciated! The first time visit in very thorough; they get x-rays and photos from every angle and make sure they get a good profile of who you are so that they can help you game plan what's next for your mouth and that journey. It was so thorough that I knew I was in good hands and started to be a little less anxious. Then I met Dr. Joyce and Dr. Jack, they were SO SOO NICE. They did not shame me for the current status of my teeth. They were warm, understanding and so genuinely nice and were very informative about what they saw so that I could understand that things weren't as terrible in my mouth as I imagined. I instantly was more set at ease. Dr. Jack was preforming the extraction. He knew I was nervous, offered me a weighted blanket, which was so random but actually was super effective in feeling like "a warm hug" as he described. He even said if I had headphones, he recommended I put them in and listen to my favorite tunes "But not your FAVORITE song, we don't want you to start associating it with teeth extractions!" haha so real and so kind! Those tricks worked surprisingly so well! Along with his gentle approach and just out of this world skills! I put the weighted blanket on, put my headphones in grabbed my stress ball and closed my eyes. When I tell you this is the first time that I actually did not feel pain through out the process, I am not lying! I felt the pressures of course but there was seriously no pain! By the time he was stitching me up, I was like "wait, are you stitching me up? Are you done" He was! I was freaking FLABBERGASTED! Literally in complete awe. I have never in my life thought "That was the best dentist ever, in the history of dentists". I called my mom instantly to say "Ok... I did it and they were AMAZING and I am not scared anymore, as long as they are my dentists!" I raved about them all night! (More than I should have talked with stitches) But I was in no pain! I was so unconcerned about talking because I was literally in no pain just sore. It was crazy! Cindy followed up the next day to make sure I was healing ok and offer advice on food options. Listen, if you are scared of the dentist, haven't been in years or ashamed of the condition of your teeth, I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE ENOUGH!

I got too much work done here, some of which has been causing me pain for the last year. I went…read moreback to Dr. Hart repeatedly to try and address the pain, but when it became apparent to me that Smiles by Hart was more interested in making money off me rather than fixing their mistakes, I decided to leave their care. After some time, I discovered that the crown Dr. Hart had placed on one of my molars was loose when it eventually fell off. The whole time I had been repeatedly told that all I needed was a few more bite adjustments to make it fit right. Naturally they would say this when they were making money off me for these bite adjustments. Seeking the aid of another dentist, we recemented the crown in place, but my mouth still doesn't feel right. My bite has been permanently and, in my opinion, unnecessarily altered causing me daily discomfort and pain which I did not experience before. I feel like a shell of my former self living with the damage done to my mouth and my bank account. Therefore, I'd recommend seeking out another more affordable and, most importantly, less invasive dentist.

Going to Smiles by Hart for dental care (starting in 2023) was probably the poorest heath care…read moredecision I ever made. I believe I had A LOT of unnecessary work done on my teeth. So far, two of my capped teeth Dr. John Hart worked on fractured, resulting in extractions and EXPENSIVE dental implants (from other practices, of course). The Smiles by Hart office is clean and high-tech. The staff is very friendly. Every examination room has a big screen TV. The staff will take brightly lite, high-resolution photographs of your teeth to show you all of "your problems" on the big screen TV. Dr. John Hart's sales skills are excellent. Dr. Hart believes he can do a root canal on any tooth; no need for an endodontist (root canal specialist). Dr. Hart believes he can make your dental cap in the office, while you wait; no need for an outside lab for crown fabrication. The first signs of trouble were that my Smiles by Hart crowns started coming off. This happened multiple times. I got my very first crown in 2016 from a different dentist and it never came off. Now I am left wondering how many other teeth that Dr. Hart worked will fail, resulting in more dental implants.

She did an…read moreinitial review of my teeth and said that she can fix the tooth in question as well as fix a couple of other teeth that looked like they might cause problems down the road. She told me that I had to make an appointment the following week and I did. The following week I go to her, and she says she has to do a deep clean and filling as well as take x-rays of my teeth, which she does while I am there. Next thing I know she's filling my teeth with this stuff that she has to use UV light on. She then goes to show me my teeth after she's done with the filling stuff. Doesn't look bad and the toothing question wasn't hurting anymore. She then goes on to say that I have to schedule an appointment for the following week for another deep cleaning. At this point, I'm starting to get curious cause I don't know any Dentist that would actually do this, but she is the Dentist so I believed her at that point. Three days later, though the fillings that she just put in all fell out taking parts of my teeth with it. Now I have three broken teeth that's causing me a great deal of pain and find out that I have an infection, possibly an abscess in my teeth. Fast forward to today I'm an excruciating amount of pain. I'm on antibiotics and now I have to go to an oral surgeon to have the teeth extracted shortly after there shortly after I went to see her last time I get a text message from her saying hey you owe us over $5000. $5000 for mistake that you made as well as trying to push her sleep apnea machines on me. Like I already know, I already have sleep apnea, but she wanted me to do a sleep study which of course I declined. She still wanted to do a sleep study on me and really was pushing for me to do that which has nothing to do with my broken teeth that she did. Don't get me wrong she's a nice sweet little lady, but she knows how to sweet talk people because she's an old lady I've seen several reviews on her here. It was just figuring that people just had some bad experiences with her, but in all honesty there is over you are completely truthful. I've seen some of the tools that she's used. I've seen the rooms that she uses, and none of it is good. There was one guy there that I saw had no idea who he was just walked into the place. Apparently he's a relative of the Dentist. Completely unprofessional If I knew then would I know now I would've never went to her because of her now I have to deal with pain until this upcoming Tuesday so I can have these teeth extracted which is affected my sleep has affected my work has affected my social life so if you have a chance to go someplace else, I would definitely go someplace else. DEFINITELY DO NOT GO HERE!!!
